Chapter 970: Chapter 643: An Insult That Can Never Be Allowed (Part One)
"Sister, you’ve been inside; surely you didn’t encounter any ’dangerous’ situations, did you?" The worry on her face intensified, and on that pitiful little face... Gong Yu felt like vomiting.
This woman is really f***ing fake!
With a light snort, Gong Yu’s eyes turned to a certain pretentious face, "I’m sorry, but I would like to ask, where did Miss Ye hear about these things? I didn’t realize your military unit could be so dangerous."
"Or is it..." A malicious smile suddenly appeared on her face, "Oh no, it’s an ’experience.’" The word "experience" was enunciated especially clearly, her eyes mocking and icy cold.
"I heard it too," Ye Xirou’s face showed grievance, "Sis, I’m just worried about you."
However.
Ye Xiwen’s face was indifferent, "There’s no need." Her tone was reserved, and her gaze at Ye Xirou carried a strong warning, "Moreover, I’ll tell you, you can slander me, and I might not mind, since you’re ’supposedly’ my ’sister.’" The word "sister" was said with biting irony, "But if you dare slander my military camp, my comrades, I will let you personally experience the discipline there, and see how I’ve changed from before."
"Of course, I wouldn’t mind letting you witness the so-called ’danger’ you’ve been talking about."
Her eyes blazed with a deadly aura, and those sharp eyes made Ye Xirou tremble involuntarily; insulting her was one thing, but she would never tolerate anyone disrespecting the place she considered home, the people she considered family!
Otherwise, she would not be polite!
Seeing Ye Xiwen, Gong Yu’s eyes carried a smile—this was her Sister Ye Zi. And Bai Xiajun, witnessing the fierce Ye Xiwen, was shocked and in disbelief. Was this the same Little Ye Zi from before? As for Ye Xirou...
Why did she feel this way? That person who would let her bully without any rebuttal, her ’sister,’ could actually possess such a presence.
How dare she!
She was actually afraid of her, which was absolutely impossible, and should not be happening.
Her fists clenched, her body shaking almost uncontrollably.
It was unclear whether it was fear, anger, or... resentment.
"Where are you getting this from, Sis? I was just...just guessing," Ye Xirou said, taking a deep breath and regaining her composure, giving Ye Xiwen a gentle, smiling look, "After all, many people who come out of the military talk like that."
Who would have thought Ye Xiwen would care so much about this.
Ye Xirou snorted inwardly.
To her, the military and those men inside weren’t worth her esteem.
But looking at her sister’s behavior, it seemed like she treasured those people, those places, like gems! How ironic that after leaving the Ye Family, she fell into such a state.
In Ye Xirou’s heart, what good people could come out of a place like the military camp? Just a bunch of muscle-brained idiots, paupers.
Someone’s sense of superiority was at play.
Looking at Ye Xirou, Gong Yu felt like she was about to throw up her breakfast from that morning.
How could there be such a disgusting person in the world, even three times more hateful than her once fake sister?
She really wanted to tear off that phony face right in front of her and see if her brain was filled with nothing but paste.
Gong Yu looked at Ye Xirou coldly, "You just said that many people from the military say these things. Where are they? Let them come out and have a confrontation with us, I’m quite curious to hear what they have to say." It’s only fair to listen to the ’opinions’ of the ’seniors,’ after all.
"I don’t think that’s necessary," she said, just speaking off the cuff—where could she find such people?
How could someone like Ye Xirou, who would never ’stoop so low’ as to mingle with people she despised, possibly be telling the truth? She had either made it up on the spot or heard it from some unreliable friends and then embellished it a bit.
However.
"How could it not be necessary?" Gong Yu’s face showed displeasure, certainly not intending to let her off the hook, "My sister, brother-in-law, and friends are all from the military, and I’ve never heard them mention any of this. Or is it that the military you speak of exists on a different planet than the one I see and hear about?" The sarcasm in her voice was thick.
"It’s probably just Rourou listening to nonsense from outsiders. Miss Yuyu, please don’t take it to heart." Seeing the signs of Gong Yu getting angry, Bai Xiajun, who had been watching Ye Xiwen, quickly tried to diffuse the situation.
Gong Yu snorted, "I think Mr. Bai and I aren’t that familiar. You might as well call me Miss Gong." The name Yuyu was not his to use.
"I’m sorry," Bai Xiajun apologized, his previous unawareness that he hadn’t introduced himself and yet Gong Yu knew his surname now clearly evident.
Gong Yu paid him no more attention, turning to Ye Xiwen instead, "Sister Ye Zi, this place is really much worse than our area, whether it’s the people or anything else. Why bother coming back?"
"Don’t you know that even if you don’t come back, there are people who lack the qualifications and the ability to bring you back from there? As long as you’re unwilling, no one can force you," she said, her voice dripping with disdain and provocation, the double meaning so clear it nearly drove Ye Xirou to lash out and tear apart that annoyingly pretty face she so despised.
Ye Xirou’s feeble façade slipped, "Is Miss Gong mocking our Ye Family?" she spat back, dismissing Gong Yu’s words as though flinging a pot in her direction.
"I thought I was being quite obvious," Gong Yu retorted, having initially planned to fake civility but now couldn’t even be bothered to pretend.
Gong Yu, straightforward and blunt, despised those fake, lotus-like people the most.
Thus, she had a particular fondness for soldiers’ direct and no-nonsense ways.
More so since both Mu Lin and Jing Chen were soldiers; to insult soldiers was to insult her sister and brother-in-law, Gong Yu—an unforgivable offense.
This woman before her was breaching Gong Yu’s ultimate taboo.
"You!" It was probably the first time Ye Xirou encountered someone as blunt as Gong Yu, and she was at a loss, her accusing gaze turning to Ye Xiwen, "Sister, look at the kind of friends you make. I spoke kindly and welcomed her into our Ye Family, and this is how she speaks to me?"
"Yuyu’s been more than polite," Ye Xiwen responded with a smile to Gong Yu and then turned to Ye Xirou, "As for what kind of person my friend is, she’s definitely better than you in every way."
Ye Xirou couldn’t even begin to compare to any of Ye Xiwen’s friends, let alone have the standing to be mentioned alongside them.
"...you..." Someone’s face went through an impressive range of hues out of rage, rendering her speechless, and Bai Xiajun, despite wanting to ease the tension, had no idea how to intervene.
He never expected that in such a brief period, the three of them would already be at loggerheads, leaving him utterly unprepared.
"Have we visitors at home?" Just then, a male voice came from behind them, causing everyone to instinctively turn around; upon seeing who it was, Bai Xiajun couldn’t help but worry.
"Sir, Madam."
It was Ye Jianfeng and Gao Hongqin who had returned.
Ye Xiwen’s face remained impassive; what an interesting day it was shaping up to be, with everyone just coming and going.
In fact, Ye Jianfeng and Gao Hongqin had merely come back to grab a few things, intending to leave right after, but the ostentatious, limited-edition sports car parked right at the entrance had caught their eye.
Of course, it was the car’s license plate, symbolizing immense affluence, that drew their attention the most.
That car belonged to that notoriously uncompromising figure from S City, Nan Minhao, known for his exceptional standing and demeanor.
Gong Yu probably hadn’t considered that, by randomly choosing a car, she’d end up with one that couldn’t have been more perfectly timed.
Seeing the exclusive sports car at their home’s entrance, Ye Jianfeng was quite elated; after all, Nan Minhao wasn’t someone just anyone could approach.
Young but already outperforming them in business to a degree that left them feeling inferior, his unpredictable temper made his visit to their Ye home something quite unexpected.
Unfortunately, it seems someone is about to be disappointed, as not only is the visitor not Nan Minhao, but someone who apparently came to pick a fight.
Now, entering the hall and not seeing Nan Minhao, Ye Jianfeng was somewhat disappointed, but upon seeing Gong Yu, he figured the car outside had something to do with her.
Perhaps it’s even better not to be Nan Minhao himself.
The woman sitting not far away must have a close relationship with Nan Minhao.
Gong Yu thought it was quite the misunderstanding; she had no association with that flashy man whatsoever.
The first one to recover was Ye Xirou.
"Dad." Her almond eyes were misted with a thin layer of tears, her lips slightly pouted as she stepped towards Ye Jianfeng.
"What happened?" On seeing her precious daughter appear so aggrieved, Gao Hongqin was immediately concerned, stepping forward quickly, "Has someone bullied you?" As she spoke the word "bullied," her gaze was on Ye Xiwen, and her voice was clear and loud.
