Chapter 932: Chapter 613 Face Blindness Is Also a Choice (Part 1)
Feeling the pairs of eyes filled with surprise and mockery, Xi’er gritted her teeth and then continued, her gaze directed towards Mu Lin and his group, or more precisely, at Mu Lin.
"I apologize to you for what I have done. I take back the insults I hurled at you, at all the language, and that gesture. I provoked this incident on purpose and I now offer my sincere apologies here, I’m sorry." After saying this, she bowed deeply towards Mu Lin’s direction.
Without explaining the main reason, her apology was just like that. However, everyone could probably guess that, most likely, she was forced into it.
Nobody could see that, as her eyes were cast down, they were already brimming with icy humiliation.
To apologize in front of all the Special Forces soldiers from various countries to the people she despised the most was for Xi’er the utmost humiliation.
Curling his lips, Mu Lin turned to Jing Youlan and his group, his voice cool and detached, "How about it, are you satisfied?" If not satisfied, we can continue.
"Quite satisfied," Jing Youlan remarked quietly. "However," "it seems he did not apologize individually to Sanqiu."
Sanqiu: "Sister-in-law, it’s enough; I’m very satisfied." They had already taken back what they needed to, and anything else was not important; if this continued, he feared he might cause trouble for Mu Lin because of him.
In fact, Sanqiu did not know that the trouble had already long been provoked, so now it wasn’t a matter of how much anymore.
It all started when Mu Lin demanded an apology in front of everyone from all the countries.
Hearing the exchange between the two, Mu Lin gave Ling Qi a slight nod, and Ling Qi understood, looking at Walker and giving a faint nod as well, signaling that Mu Lin was satisfied.
Walker involuntarily breathed a sigh of relief, and the stiffness on his face relaxed.
Thankfully, Mu Lin was still someone who kept his promises.
Until Mu Lin nodded, Walker’s heart was still hanging by a thread, dreading that Mu Lin would be unsatisfied, especially since Xi’er’s performance was not that good.
Moreover, because this female soldier really... made it completely impossible to guess her thoughts.
Despite often having a simple, pure smile on her face, it still seemed to hold a chill that touched one’s heart.
Subsequently, Walker nodded at Xi’er on the stage, signaling that Mu Lin was satisfied; after Xi’er returned the microphone and thanked everyone with a military salute, she went back to her original spot.
Following that, the seven-day competition came to an end, and people from various countries returned to their own rooms to pack up and leave, while Mu Lin and his group followed the few people to the Military Doctor’s place.
"Military Doctor Mu, you’re here!" As soon as Mu Lin stepped inside, he saw a middle-aged man... staring and smiling at him like a blooming flower. Subconsciously, he took a step back, increasing the distance between them.
With a cough, it seemed the other man sensed Mu Lin’s subconscious rejection. He awkwardly stepped back as well, but still kept a smile on his face, "Military Doctor Mu, we meet again." The aides around him, or perhaps interns, had never seen their master so enthusiastic towards anyone, smiling like a blooming flower.
Puzzled looks unconsciously turned towards Mu Lin.
However.
"You are?" Mu Lin looked at the man, her brow slightly furrowed, a trace of doubt and unfamiliarity crossing her face.
She did not remember him at all.
"..." Well, the Military Doctor was deeply struck, "Military Doctor Mu, you don’t remember me?" The man’s expression seemed almost like a pitiable young deer.
Ling Qi stepped forward, smiling apologetically at the man, "I’m really sorry, Mu Lin has a bit of—face blindness (yes, it seems she does), she can’t retain memories of people she’s only met once or twice." Especially foreigners, she was even more face blind.
Hearing this, some people exchanged glances, not believing it.
If she couldn’t remember, Mu Lin had only met Xi’er once before, but she had remembered her.
In fact, Mu Lin could not do anything about it—she could forget others, but those with a grudge, that was another story.
If she couldn’t remember a face, isn’t there still a scent! The catch is whether Mu Lin actually wants to remember or not.
Mu Lin nodded, smiling slightly, "Sorry." And thus, acknowledging Ling Qi’s words.
"No problem, no problem." The other man waved it off, not minding at all, such matters were trivial and not worth worrying over.
Although it was just one glance (the last time Mu Lin truly had forgotten), Mu Lin’s impression of this Military Doctor was not bad.
Those with childlike innocence are the simplest, and towards such people, Mu Lin would feel a sense of favor, not distinguishing whether it was excessive.
"Who would have thought they would actually invite you." It meant that he actually thought Mu Lin might not come back; he had seen them in such a difficult position previously.
Observing him, Mu Lin’s smile was slight, "They showed a lot of ’sincerity.’" The word "sincerity" seemed like it had more to it, as Ying Sun and others exchanged smiles. That man stiffened his expression for a moment, and as for Xi’er, a ferocious look flashed across his face, his fists clenched tight with veins popping.
Unfortunately, no one would notice him at that moment.
"Is that so, that’s good then." The person wasn’t aware, nor could they feel the stiff atmosphere nearby. They simply continued enthusiastically speaking to Mu Lin, "Military Doctor Mu, this way, please." They led Mu Lin to where Walker had been, who had already woken up. Seeing Mu Lin, the expression on Walker’s face didn’t change much, but there was also no hostility.
This made Mu Lin slightly surprised.
Mu Lin looked at him indifferently, "You don’t seem to hate me." Although his gaze was detached and he asked such a question, the answer wasn’t really that important to Mu Lin.
"Why should I hate you?" The other person countered, their gaze toward Mu Lin very calm, "There is no issue of hatred in this matter, blame only my bad luck." No one else.
He seemed to take the matter quite philosophically.
The people from Ying Sun didn’t expect that this person was actually an optimist.
"You sure have a sensible way of thinking," Jing Youlan stepped forward, his face wearing a trace of mischief. Jing Youlan felt that he hadn’t noticed it before, that this person didn’t look that annoying. At least among these Special Forces Soldiers, he was the most pleasing to the eye.
At least, "You look much more pleasing than him," Young Master Jing spoke the blunt truth. However, it was indeed bad luck; he shouldn’t have entered the field at that time. If someone else had been there, he wouldn’t have had to suffer like this.
If that someone didn’t apologize.
Tsk, tsk, tsk...he would have felt sorry for him.
He had to admit that.
Hearing Jing Youlan’s words, the person just chuckled, never having gotten involved in certain matters from the beginning. Perhaps God couldn’t stand by idly, thinking he needed some tribulations.
His eyes were fixed on his own leg; he seemed to understand the whole situation.
As for the "him" Jing Chen was talking about, there was a faint snort from the side, but no words.
Walker turned to glance at him before looking back at Mu Lin, saying, "Military Doctor Mu." A reminder.
Mu Lin’s response was indifferent, "Since I’m here, you might as well set aside other thoughts." Since she had promised to come, she wouldn’t go back on her word. If she were to renege, she wouldn’t have come at all.
Mu Lin implied she didn’t have as many thoughts as some people, too tiresome.
Hearing Mu Lin’s words, Walker said no more.
Mu Lin took a small step forward, her eyes lightly resting on the chest strap that was fixed firmly across the other’s chest. The Military Doctor stepped forward, explaining, "This is to prevent his condition from worsening during breathing and movement, to prevent displacement." After all, two ribs inside were broken. If they weren’t careful with the treatment, the consequences could be unimaginable.
And this, in fact, was their form of treatment.
"Take it off," the voice was as cool as ever.
"Alright." Without hesitation, and without asking for a reason, he commanded the two apprentices standing by idly to remove the device that had been so painstakingly fixed across Ai Lu’s chest.
Previously, Mu Lin had demonstrated a skill in his presence that he had not seen clearly. Now was a good opportunity to witness it again... uh, not sure if this is considered setting bones; it’s bone setting.
Watching him quietly, Mu Lin’s gaze made something strange flicker across the other’s resolute face, his body unconsciously wanting to sit up straighter.
Ai Lu hadn’t forgotten that the young woman in front of him was the one who had beaten him without a chance to fight back. Yet now, she was devoid of that aggressiveness, composed, her face showing no emotion at all.
Truly a strange woman, but very special, so special that one could not bring oneself to dislike her.
Even though she was the one who had injured him so, possibly even costing him his beloved Special Forces.
"If you don’t want to die, then lean back and stay still," her voice remained cold. Mu Lin frowned slightly, and Ai Lu immediately stiffened before carefully leaning back into his original position with the help of the two apprentices.
Heh, heh...still a bit fierce.
However, the next moment.
"Kid, don’t look at my sister-in-law with those eyes." Jing Youlan’s voice suddenly rang out, drawing Ai Lu’s gaze to himself. His expression was condescending as he snorted coldly, "Although I know my sister-in-law is extraordinarily beautiful, loved by all, the envy of women (shamefully), I have some bad but necessary news for you: she’s already married, and to my brother at that." So, if you’re harbouring any thoughts, it’s better to give up early.
Jing Youlan continued, "As for you, whether it’s hand-to-hand combat, shooting skills, appearance, abilities, or status! You can’t even compare to a single hair on my brother’s body. So, brother, I advise you not to entertain any notions, otherwise, you won’t even know how you died." His eyes were full of disdain, and pride when talking about Jing Chen.
Finally, he added, "My brother is a super jealous man." A single extra glance at his sister-in-law and he’d down a whole jar of vinegar, suffocating us unnecessary single dogs.
Yet, upon hearing Jing Youlan’s cautionary words, Ai Lu just gave him a silent glance without saying anything; probably too lazy to waste words with him.
