Chapter 896: Chapter 589: Caught in Mu Lin’s Way (First Update)

Ebel nodded, his exquisite little face also beaming with excitement.

At the amusement park on the weekend, it was nothing but a sea of people, with screams and noise merging together—mostly adults accompanied by children; of course, there were also many couples.

"How about it, Ebel, isn’t this the first time you’ve been to such a place?" Gong Yu’s face was unstoppable with sheer excitement.

Despite asking, she could tell from his expression that it must be his first time; of course, there was another reason—her sister had mentioned that he came this time specifically to have his leg seen to. Since he had sought out her sister, it was probably some complicated condition. Before that, he must have suffered a great deal; alas... such a pitiful child, but having run into her sister, he was fortunate.

Gong Yu was proud and a bit haughty.

Ebel’s smile widened brilliantly, his blue eyes curving up, exceptionally dazzling under the radiant sunlight, catching Gong Yu and Quan Luo off-guard.

Both of them thought: How can there be such a beautiful child! Their favorite thing was his sapphire-like eyes, crystal clear, untainted by any impurity—just too lovely not to want them.

Really... they wanted them so badly!

Gong Yu even wondered why their people didn’t have such eyes.

"It’s also my first time here," Gong Rui, who was being held, complained, looking round-eyed at Gong Yu, indicating that she never used to take her along.

Gong Yu chuckled, pretending not to understand her accusation, and turned to look at the two fatties and the others, "You guys wait here, Luoluo and I will go and buy the tickets." After saying that, she pulled Quan Luo to the ticket line, each taking one side to see who would be faster.

Today, it seemed slightly less crowded than the last time they had been there.

Gena pulled Ebel to his side protectively, the group remaining alert inwardly, yet their faces displayed nothing amiss.

Mu Lin had only said it might happen, so Gena really hoped nothing of the sort would occur—he wanted today to be a beautiful memory in Ebel’s heart, not a terrifying one.

Once they returned to C Country, perhaps he could no longer enjoy the same freedom as now.

As the son of a national leader, he was surrounded by countless dangers, especially since everyone in C Country knew that this "disabled" son was their lifeline.

This time, Gena even doubted—what if... if it really was those people who intended to harm their Little Young Masters, didn’t it also mean they would target them as well?

If something happened to both the Little Young Masters and themselves, then they could definitely pin the blame on them; the more Gena thought about it, the more he worried and became convinced that something might actually happen today—Mu Lin’s intuition was correct.

Of course, with Jing Chen in C Country, he wasn’t worried about that side—his worries were only for here.

Gripping Ebel’s hand even tighter, Ebel looked at him inquisitively, "Uncle Gena, are you okay?" Why did you look so pale?

For Ebel, he had always relied quite a bit on Gena; after all, over the years, he had seen Gena much more often than he had seen his own father, so of course there would be special feelings.

"It’s nothing," he said to Ebel with a reassuring smile, "There are a lot of people here, so remember to hold my hand tightly." Gena quickly added.

"Mhm," Ebel nodded and took hold of Gena’s hand in return.

He cast an unconscious glance at Ebel.

Ebel’s initiative surprised Gena, but it delighted him; his feelings for Ebel were no longer simply protective—they had grown to the point where he considered him family.

For Gena, a man without any relatives, being brought out from the Special Forces by Bashir to accompany Ebel had indeed been an uncomfortable adjustment at first, but as time passed, he had gradually invested his feelings into it.

So, how could Ebel’s proactive affection not move him?

Regardless, he was absolutely determined not to let anyone harm his Little Young Masters.

Unless they stepped over his dead body first!

His gaze scoured the crowd, his every pore vigilant.

It had been so long since he felt this way.

After a good twenty minutes or so, Gong Yu and the others finally purchased the tickets, "One, two, three, four, five, plus me and Luoluo makes seven tickets, right, let’s go." She then led the way, with the two fatties and the others following.

They decided it was best not to tell Gong Yu about this just yet.

Meanwhile, Mu Lin was on her way back, driving the car. As she was about to speed up, passing through a less trafficked area, a car suddenly cut in front of her.

With a swift reaction, she turned the steering wheel sharply and braked hard, narrowly avoiding a collision by less than half a meter. Her brows furrowed tightly as she coldly observed the car in front and the people in it.

Her lips quirked playfully, the crimson of her lips moving as if she hadn’t seen—even through the screens of the two cars—the icy gaze aimed at her.

"We meet again."

It was just a few simple words, yet Mu Lin looked at Mi Zheng as the car backed up, intending to pass by. Regrettably, the person in front of her had no plans of letting her leave.

The aura emanating from Mi Zheng grew colder. He unbuckled his seat belt, opened the door, and got out, followed by Mi Zheng.

"Linlin," he leaned against his own car, seemingly trying to present his most perfect side to Mu Lin.

"This time, what’s your purpose?" Unfortunately, Mu Lin merely gazed coldly at the seductive ’pretty’ face before her.

"What purpose could I have?" Mi Zheng’s face showed a hint of grievance. "I just felt that I haven’t seen Linlin for so long, I’ve missed you." That’s all, as seeing her now really is too difficult.

It’s almost been a month since the last time; hmm, just four days and eighteen hours short.

"Is that so." Mu Lin scoffed dismissively, getting straight to the point, "You’ve accepted that task." This was an affirmative statement, for she was certain the moment Mi Zheng appeared before her.

"What task?" Feigning ignorance, Mi Zheng’s lips quirked, his expression one of mockery.

Mu Lin: "You know what I’m talking about. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be here." Deliberately stopping her on this road, what did he intend to do? Such a minor task should not require his personal attention, should it?

"Ah..." Upon hearing Mu Lin’s words, Mi Zheng audibly exhaled a sigh, his gaze on Mu Lin filled with helplessness. "Linlin, you’re too smart." Smart enough that he just couldn’t let go, didn’t want to let go, and it even made him a bit... frightened.

Mu Lin’s lips twitched, but her eyes remained icy, "If I weren’t a bit smarter, I would have died at the hands of your people years ago, wouldn’t I? To live well, I had no choice but to be clever."

"True," Mi Zheng agreed, smirking, "If that were the case, I wouldn’t be able to see you now." His face was completely filled with a sense of relief.

His gaze was fixed on Mu Lin, carrying an indescribable intensity and mystery.

"Linlin, I’m about to leave, and it may be a long time before I return. So, how about you join me for a meal?" Come to think of it, since they met, they had never really eaten together.

This was also the main reason he had shown up here.

"Of course, if you dine with me, I will abandon this task." Although the task had already begun, "For Linlin, breaking some principles is not an issue." Compared to Mu Lin, those things are inconsequential.

"Really!" Yet, Mu Lin only responded with a cold laugh, "Knowing me so long, do you think I would agree?" she countered.

"I’m not really sure." However, "My instinct tells me you will agree."

"It looks like your instincts have deceived you. I won’t." Mu Lin looked at him, her eyes as calm as a still pond, then turned around, ready to get back into the car.

"Whether you will or won’t, today, I really am not prepared to let you leave." If possible, he truly wished to take Mu Lin away with him, but sadly, just thinking about it was one thing; carrying it out... seemed not quite feasible.

Unless...

No sooner had he finished speaking than an intense attack suddenly struck just as Mu Lin’s hand reached for the car door handle.

A sharp flash crossed her eyes as Mu Lin dodged to the side, then turned and without hesitation began to counterattack.

Mi Zheng stepped back twice to avoid Mu Lin’s crisply approaching palm. Then, countering, he twisted his hand and firmly caught hold of her wrist, pulling her forcefully toward him as if he wanted to steal a kiss.

Mu Lin’s other hand joined the attack with a swift combo, lifting her foot and aiming straight for his knee with a ferocious move; Mi Zheng, quick and agile, raised his foot to meet hers, not dodging.

Mu Lin’s every move was clean and sharp, chilling, with each attack nearly hitting the other’s vital points, while Mi Zheng seemed as if his heart wasn’t in it.

To Mu Lin, her main priority was to deal with the person in front of her and hurry to the amusement park.

Although she had confidence in the people from Ying Sun and Gena, the man before her was too cunning, his subordinates adept at enduring. She now couldn’t be sure what exactly he was scheming.

This was their first real face-off; Mu Lin was very fast, so fast that Mi Zheng was caught off guard.

He hadn’t expected that Mu Lin’s skills were almost on par with his own. If it were just a matter of speed, she was even more superior, and in terms of skills... he didn’t have the slightest advantage.

No wonder the people he had sent out before almost inevitably met their demise. It made sense now.

Moreover... Just as he was about to grasp a certain thought, he suddenly felt something was terribly amiss all over his body.

Utterly wrong.

"You’ve poisoned me," Mi Zheng’s face showed a trace of annoyance, knowing... he had fallen into her trap.

Smirking, Mu Lin took a sudden step back and regarded him coolly, "It looks like you’ve almost forgotten what I rely on for a living." Her gaze was slightly cold, "As for what exactly I poisoned you with, I think you should go back and research it yourself. After all... you’ve studied my poison thoroughly." She didn’t need to provide the cure for him.

Having said that, Mu Lin turned and got into the car without any hesitation. The car quickly reversed, then with a push of the accelerator, it disappeared in an instant from Mi Zheng’s view.
