Chapter 890: Chapter 585: Can’t We Just Smile (Part 2)
The hall was tidied up a bit, and soon, Jing Chen arrived back at the Jing family home with Ebel and the others, coincidentally at the same time as the elder, who led everyone outside waiting for them.
After a few pleasantries exchanged between the two leaders, they headed toward Elder Jing’s direction; looking at Jing Chen, who was safe and sound, Mu Lin’s lips curved into a gentle smile, and so did Jing Chen’s.
By their side, seeing Mu Lin brought an immediate smile to Ebel’s face, his eyes filled with pleasant surprise.
"I presume this must be the famed Divine Doctor Mu," Ebel remarked. Since the call, his son’s gaze hadn’t shifted away from Mu Lin, and through Gena’s descriptions, Mu Lin was the one who was closest.
The Divine Doctor Mu indeed had a pretty face, which didn’t seem as... extraordinary as he had heard—referring to her temperament.
But indeed, she was a formidable young talent!
Nodding slightly towards the other party, Mu Lin conducted herself in a calm, unaffected manner that would surprise onlookers, but those who knew her understood this to be just how Mu Lin was.
The elder turned to Mu Lin, "Girl, it’s been a while, how have you been?" His greeting also made C Country’s officials curious.
"I’m fine," Mu Lin nodded to the elder, a hint of closeness in her eyes; she’d always had a good impression of the elder and had always been uninhibited in his presence.
The elder then looked over and praised, "Actually, when I received your call saying you were looking for this girl, I was quite surprised. I never imagined her reputation had spread to C Country." This was international fame! It truly made them proud.
C Country chuckled, "I came to know of this under other circumstances."
"Then your luck is as good as mine," the elder continued.
"Oh?" the president of C Country looked at the elder in surprise. "How so?"
"You might not be aware," the elder chuckled, "but my life was also saved by this girl. If it weren’t for her, I probably..." He chuckled again, and the rest of his statement didn’t need further elaboration; the elder spoke in this way to essentially guarantee Mu Lin’s expertise, and also to protect her.
"I never knew that," the other party expressed in surprise. If there had been any lingering doubt about Mu Lin, then with the elder’s endorsement, those last traces of scepticism had completely evaporated.
"Let’s not chat out here any longer. Come inside and sit for a bit. In about half an hour, we’ll have a chance to taste some home cooking," Elder Jing said cheerfully; his pride in Mu Lin was evident.
She was his granddaughter-in-law, after all.
Subsequently, the group headed inside, and the elder asked Mu Lin, "Where are your two children?" He had come today especially for them.
"They are inside, my mom and grandpa are holding them," answered Mu Lin. Grandpa Gong and Gong Muxue were not from the Jing family, and it didn’t really matter whether they came out to welcome guests or not. They were here for medical treatment and certainly wouldn’t be putting on any airs of importance.
The elder most certainly would not.
"Your children must be beautiful, with a mother like you," the elder said honestly, already a bit impatient to see them.
To him, Mu Lin was like a granddaughter, so her children were akin to great-grandchildren. Before he came, the elder had even prepared gifts.
He had never been this enthusiastic, not even for his own grandsons.
Upon entering the living room, they quickly met the two people Mu Lin spoke of, as well as the two children.
The elder was overjoyed and approached Gong Muxue, "You must be the girl’s mother." He was aware of Mu Lin’s story and had also heard from Elder Jing about Gong Muxue, family they recognized later in life.
The girl had not had an easy childhood, which was heart-wrenching.
"Hello," Gong Muxue nodded slightly to the elder, guessing his identity given the distinct difference in appearance from a C Country native.
"May I hold them?" the elder asked, charmed by the exquisite baby in Gong Muxue’s arms.
Indeed, the baby was beautiful, staring at him with big eyes, his heart nearly melted.
Gong Muxue nodded without refusal, showing the elder how to hold the child.
Although the elder already had several grandsons and even great-grandsons who were a year older than Mu Lin’s children, for some reason, he was more fond of the baby before him.
He hadn’t held his own grandsons, making this a momentous first for him.
Sitting on the sofa, the elder happily entertained Jing Nuo.
Placing a small jade bracelet on each baby, at that moment, the elder seemed nothing more than a loving grandpa, causing surprise among those from C Country.
The elder’s reputation was always stern and sagacious; today, however, they were fortunate enough to witness this other side of him.
Their gaze unintentionally shifted toward Mu Lin, feeling that it was the young lady who had influenced this entire atmosphere.
The expansive Jing family seemed different from other significant clans, filled with much more human touch and warmth.
And there was Mu Lin.
Mu Lin had made a unique impression on C Country, appearing somewhat aloof, but observing the smile on her face, they felt she was actually a kind-hearted person.
Heh... to think that one day, he would find it hard to read someone so completely.
At that moment, Ebel had already approached Mu Lin, reached out, tugged at her sleeve, and said, "Sister."
Without needing anyone’s reminder, he spoke up on his own, no longer needing Mu Lin’s prompts.
C Country looked at Ebel and Mu Lin with intrigue.
"Ebel." Mu Lin turned and touched his head, reassured by his smiling face, "This time, I will heal your leg. Don’t worry."
