Chapter 835: Chapter 556: Truly Self-Destruction (Part 1)
After finishing the conversation with Gu Muqing, Jing Chen went upstairs and upon opening the door, saw Mu Lin sitting quietly on the edge of the bed flipping through a medical book, resembling a beautiful painting.
These medical books, in fact, most of which Mu Lin had read before, but sometimes revisiting them could perhaps reveal something she hadn’t noticed before.
Jing Chen came to Mu Lin’s side, reached out to lift her up, sat down by the bed, then directly placed Mu Lin on his lap, wrapping his arm around her waist and letting her lean into his embrace to be more comfortable.
"What’s wrong?" Mu Lin looked at him with some confusion and asked, "Did Mom talk to you about something?" To tell the truth, she could never figure out what they could possibly talk about for so long.
Could it be about what happened during the day?
"Mhmm." Jing Chen nodded, not hiding the truth, "Mom said that today, while you were shopping, you encountered an annoying person who hit on you." To Jing Chen, that was hitting on her, also known as harassment.
"You mean Mi Zheng." Mu Lin closed the medical book and set it aside, finding a comfortable spot on Jing Chen to lean against, unconsciously playing with his large hand that was embracing her.
"It’s surprising to find out he’s been in B City." Mu Lin said, but right now, she didn’t have the time to deal with any grudges between them.
"He’s always been here. I think he only left once after the wedding and has been in B City ever since." Jing Chen’s expression cooled when he spoke about Mi Zheng, a chill and displeasure evident on his face.
After all, who would like someone constantly coveting their belongings, let alone their loved one.
"What is he doing staying in B City?" It can’t be that he has some ulterior motive.
At this thought, Mu Lin’s delicate eyebrows instinctively furrowed, her phoenix eyes looking toward Jing Chen, her lips pressed lightly.
"Madam, do you remember the clubhouse we went to with Youlan a few days before our wedding?" Jing Chen suddenly asked.
"Are you talking about the Royal Palace?" It’s not that Mu Lin wanted to remember, but something had happened there that day. Of course, Yuyu and Youlan came back to tell her the following day after watching the excitement unfold.
Speaking of Gong Yu, for Mu Lin’s sake, she had actually transferred from the school in C Province to B City, attending the same school that Youlan and others had previously gone to, though she always stayed on campus. After all, living with the Jing family and being chauffeured to school every day wasn’t convenient.
On weekends, she would visit the Jing family and spend time with Mu Lin; Quan Luo was another person who had transferred with her.
What do you call a good friend? This is it. However, it’s not the weekend now, otherwise there would have been two little tails behind Mu Lin during the day.
Unwilling to remove his hand from Mu Lin’s belly, Jing Chen softly acknowledged with a hum, "Mi Zheng... he’s the owner of that place." He had learned about this only recently.
After seeing Mi Zheng there that day, Jing Chen had people look into the Royal Palace, the newly opened, bustling clubhouse; however, it seemed that the other party had no intention of hiding, not requiring much effort for Jing Chen to find out.
It seems Mi Zheng knew that in B City, he simply couldn’t hide.
Hearing this, Mu Lin looked at Jing Chen with a hint of surprise, "Do you mean that he’s moved his main base from C Province here?" That shouldn’t be the case.
"Not to that extent." Jing Chen voiced Mu Lin’s thoughts, "This is B City."
Thus B City isn’t C Province, and there’s no room for him to make a scene; if he really tried, Jing Chen wouldn’t mind personally taking action to sort things out.
"Okay." Mu Lin nodded, not particularly concerned, as long as that person didn’t bother her for the time being.
Of course, Jing Chen also wouldn’t let anyone bother Mu Lin. He wouldn’t allow it.
Suddenly.
"It moved!"
"What?" The shift in topic was too abrupt. They were just discussing serious matters when suddenly such a statement popped out, leaving Mu Lin momentarily unable to catch up.
What moved?
"The baby moved." Jing Chen’s large hand on Mu Lin’s belly, feeling the faint touch through his hand, his face lit up with a touch of excitement; it was times like these—either in front of Mu Lin or in this kind of situation—that Jing Chen might seem like an ordinary person.
An ordinary husband, and an ordinary father.
Seeing Jing Chen like this always made Mu Lin’s heart especially soft.
On the other hand.
"Leader?" Seeing the sudden appearance of two boxes of baby clothes that clashed starkly with his own style, Wu Qian looked puzzled.
