Chapter 816: Chapter 546 Jing Youlan and Others
The calm times always seem to pass by particularly fast. Mu Lin had been back in the military unit for a month and a half, and her belly had gradually begun to show.
Every time they saw the bulge of Mu Lin’s belly, everyone felt a bit hesitant to keep her too busy. At least by now, basically no one dared to line up in front of her anymore; after all, that belly housed the future little Jing. If anything were to happen, they wouldn’t have their lives to pay for it.
That afternoon, while everyone was training, Jing Chen was away, and the military doctor’s office was rather idle. With nothing else to do, Mu Lin stood up and went out for a walk to clear her mind, with Yinzhi and Qiaozi by her side, accompanying her; because they, too, were looking forward and curious; curious about how Mu Lin’s belly was slowly growing.
However, being pregnant, she indeed occasionally needed to walk about.
Unknowingly, she arrived at the training grounds and stood there quietly, watching the strenuous training of the others from afar, feeling a sense of nostalgia for having gone through similar training herself once upon a time.
This period of time had been rainy, with torrential rains falling for several days just the previous week, only stopping in the past couple of days; yet, in such a place, the air was much more comfortable than in the city centre. Mu Lin very much liked the military base.
Recently, Mu Lin had been frequently walking around the military area, and she was accompanied by two large bodyguards, Yinzhi and Qiaozi. At the beginning, the soldiers marveled at such a scene, but over time, they got used to it.
A woman, an eagle, and a snake, had become the most beautiful scenery within the military area.
Oh no, occasionally, there was another person to add to that picture: it was none other than Master Jing; such a scene was not something an ordinary person would be fortunate enough to witness.
However, since Mu Lin had come to the military area, everyone noticed that they had seen Master Jing much more recently than they ever did in the past year.
The legendary Jing, once as elusive as a dragon showing its head but not its tail, had now become much more down-to-earth.
It was at this moment that a sudden rush of ringing filled Mu Lin’s ears. Her brows furrowed. The soldiers, who had been in training, had a reaction and subconsciously stopped their exercises.
"Continue training, I will go and find out what’s happening; be ready to assemble at any time." This ring was the signal to gather all instructors.
"Yes!" Everyone answered in unison.
"What happened?" Mu Lin stopped someone passing by, and the person’s face was somewhat grave, "I guess it’s probably because of the heavy rains a while back, some places might have experienced landslides or floods." Usually, with heavy rains like that, there was a chance for them to be called out for duty; many teams had already been dispatched from other places this period of time.
Although there was work to do, they did not enjoy such tasks.
Such tasks also meant that there would be a large number of dead.
Having said this, the person then hurriedly ran off.
"Let’s go back." Watching the person’s retreating figure, Mu Lin also turned and quickly walked back in the direction of the military doctor’s office, with Qiaozi quickly following behind.
When Mu Lin returned to the military doctor’s office, she saw Zhang He and another person rapidly packing up. Upon seeing Mu Lin, Zhang He said, "Mu Lin, we might have to go out with the larger troupe soon, and we will leave this place in your care."
"Is it serious?" Mu Lin asked, her brows instinctively furrowing.
"We’re not sure yet, but we’ve heard that a village over two hundred kilometers outside of B City has been entirely buried underground due to landslides caused by the terrain and road conditions, with no preparation at the time of the incident. So, there...not a single person got out alive." Zhang He’s expression grew grave as he spoke.
After a pause, Zhang He continued, "It’s not suitable for you to go to such a place when you’re pregnant, so the responsibility of watching over here will be yours." After finishing his words, he quickly went back to packing.
Mu Lin pursed her lips and turned to where she kept her herbs and other items. She took out a dozen or so small bottles and jars, put them in a bag, and handed it to Zhang He, "Take these with you; they’re for disinfection, stopping bleeding, and emergency treatment. They’re all labeled, you know how to use them." Sometimes when the equipment is not useful, using her items is more convenient.
"Thanks a lot. We’ll make good use of them." Actually, Zhang He had just been thinking about whether to ask Mu Lin for some.
"Do you know which teams are going?" Mu Lin suddenly asked.
After a pause, Zhang He replied, "Not clear yet, but I feel the reconnaissance battalion probably can’t escape this duty." After all, they are related to scouting and searching, so they would be more skilled at finding people.
