Chapter 813: Chapter 543: Mu Lin Was Actually Scolded! (Part 3)

Min Qian’s gaze at Mu Lin was nearly murderous.

Mu Lin, however, remained calmly responsive. "Military Doctor Min, don’t tell me you ever thought about dedicating yourself to my grandpa..." Seeing Min Qian’s face freeze in an instant, Mu Lin laughed, a brilliantly radiant smile, yet the curvature of his lips was exceptionally cold. "You really don’t think that just any woman would be accepted by my grandpa, do you?" If that was the case, then Jing Chen wouldn’t be the Jing Chen she encountered at first.

And she, for one, would not fancy such a man.

When Mu Lin spoke, sometimes he was merciless—especially to those who liked to look for trouble without reason.

Humiliation.

The words Mu Lin spoke were naked humiliation to Min Qian’s ears, and she couldn’t help but roar out, "Do you think I’m as shameless and vile as you?"

"Who did you just call vile? Say it again."

No sooner had Min Qian furiously finished her accusation than a deep voice sounded at the entrance. Everyone instinctively looked back, only to see Song Qi, who came to bring Mu Lin lunch each day, and this time, in front of Song Qi, stood an elder. Even just standing there, everyone felt as though a massive stone weighed down on their chests, making it hard to breathe.

Looking at the elder before them, everyone’s hearts couldn’t help but shake.

Could this elder possibly be... no way!

A wave of excitement swelled in everyone’s hearts, but they instinctively denied it, while also not wanting to reject the thought.

How could it be possible!

If they weren’t mistaken, this elder should be the current head of the Jing family, the famed Grandpa Jing who had retired but still wielded deep influence within the military.

They heard that he hardly ever left the Jing family’s main gate, and yet now he appeared within the military base.

Good heavens!

Everyone instinctively looked towards Mu Lin.

This elder couldn’t possibly have come just to deliver lunch to Dr. Mu, could he? That would be too... unbelievable!

Indeed.

Song Qi looked at Min Qian, who had been scared stiff, with a cold gaze. The authority and chill in his eyes were unmistakable, as was the wrath simmering within them.

How dare she insult the Jing family’s young mistress. Who gave her such courage?

Song Qi’s affection for Mu Lin matched Grandpa Jing’s in every way.

"Grandpa." Seeing Grandpa Jing, Mu Lin stood up. But Mu Lin’s address confirmed everyone’s speculation. It really was Jing.

All of a sudden, Mu Lin seemed like their lucky star.

The soldiers were so excited they could hardly contain themselves.

"Girl, why stand up? Sit down quickly." As Mu Lin stood, Grandpa Jing instantly became concerned and strode towards her in large steps, his previously gathering anger temporarily forgotten.

Compared to Mu Lin, everything else was unimportant, to be dealt with slowly later.

"Grandpa, why have you come?" Mu Lin asked, somewhat helpless. Why had the elder come? Judging by his demeanor, it seemed he had specifically come to bring her lunch, which felt like spoiling her too much.

Also, his presence here was apt to scare people.

After glancing at the crowd, Mu Lin turned to Song Qi with an inquiring look. Song Qi could only raise his brows helplessly.

If the old man wished to come, how could he possibly stop him?

"Don’t look at Xiaosong." Grandpa Jing noticed the silent exchange of looks between Mu Lin and Song Qi and glared at her. "Xiaosong told me you’ve been working incredibly hard these past three days." It pained his heart; continuing, his eyes instinctively swept across the long line of soldiers and then back to Mu Lin. "Girl, have you forgotten you’re carrying my dear great-grandson and great-granddaughter in your belly? What if you exhaust yourself? You must take good care of yourself."

"Grandpa, I know my limits," Mu Lin replied with a light smile. She was in good health; besides, these people mostly suffered superficial injuries. Despite their numbers, it was actually a matter of minutes for her to deal with, not at all exhausting.

None of which mattered.

"Unacceptable," the elder declared, and glanced at the crowd again, his face instantly shifting to a benign and genial smile. "I see the military doctors over there aren’t too busy, why don’t you go have a look next door for now? My daughter-in-law needs to rest and have lunch." His smile radiated warmth.

Immediately, as one, everyone aligned themselves in front of Zhang He, leaving him bewildered.

But not one person stood in front of Min Qian.

That spoke volumes about one’s character, of course, as well as the elder’s influence.
