Mated at First Sight
Chapter 764 - 508

Chapter 764: 508

Everything seemed eerily tranquil.

However, beneath the surface, some were uncertainty stirring.

At the edge of the cliff.

A slight breeze swept in, carrying a hint of chill, yet it failed to extinguish the anger brewing within the man standing behind.

"Why did the Poison Doctor show up here? Does she already know about her past? What is she doing in the Gong Family’s house?" The man behind queried, looking at the man standing with his back to him.

He didn’t believe that Mu Lin came to the Gong Family just to cure Gong Muxue’s madness.

"I don’t know." The deep voice sounded slightly sardonic, showing little concern for the interrogation.

He turned around, his mask adorned with a blooming blood-red Bi’an flower met the gaze of the other man, "I think, she probably doesn’t know yet." The corner of his mouth beneath the mask drew into a wicked smile. Bi’an regarded the man before him, with an amused, half-hearted look.

"Probably!" The questioner frowned, unconsciously clutching his wrist. "That’s not the answer I want." His face was grim with cold eyes. That day, the woman had broken his wrist, something even the Gong Family’s finest couldn’t fix. Her words, her looks, they kept replaying in Tang Qian’s mind these past few days.

He had a feeling she already knew the entire truth, and now, she seemed to be here for revenge, seeking what was rightfully hers.

It seemed like the man had realized the truth.

Mu Lin was here for his life; then to get justice for Mu Jue.

"I’m afraid I can’t help you with that." Bi’an apologetically looked at the man before him, palms raised in surrender. "Mr. Tang Qian, you must realize how many of my top soldiers I’ve lost because of the Poison Doctor. These warriors cannot be trained overnight."

The man, Tang Qian, scoffed, saying nothing. He didn’t give any importance to what Bi’an said. None of it concerned him.

Bi’an responded with a dismissive laugh. He wasn’t concerned, just gazing at him. "However, there is one unpleasant piece of news to share with you." He hoped Tang Qian wouldn’t resort to violence upon hearing it.

"What news?" What could be more troubling than what he’d been going through these past couple of days?

"Due to the shortage of manpower, the plan to assassinate the Poison Doctor has been called off. On behalf of the Organization, I am here to notify Mr. Tang. We will no longer undertake this mission. I hope you find a better solution soon to prevent any potential disruption to your plans." His main purpose for appearing today was to deliver this message. He just couldn’t... bring himself to do away with that girl.

What a pity.

How could he banish such an interesting woman from this world just like that? Although he was less than pleased to learn that she was married, it wasn’t her fault. It was the fault of that man.

The more he ’engaged’ with Mu Lin, the less he could let go.

A dangerously delicate matter. So, his only choice now was to bring the woman under his control, conquer her, and keep her for his enjoyment.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t going to be easy.

"What did you say?" Tang Qian’s face hardened at his words. "What do you mean by that?"

"Exactly what I said." Bi’an looked at him with an unabashedly amused expression. "Mr. Tang Qian, when did you become so slow, unable to grasp a clear-cut refusal? That’s rather disappointing."

Tang Qian’s expression froze. He was about to retort when Bi’an’s expression switched abruptly. "Mr. Tang Qian, while I might not like to waste words, I believe it’s necessary to remind you not to forget who I am. In this world, I give orders. No one commands me." He should know that.

"Although I take pride in my patience, I’m not completely devoid of temper. So, I’d advise Mr. Tang Qian to avoid upsetting me. Otherwise, I might inadvertently... let all your secrets slip."

"It might be a hassle for you, but for me, it’s as simple as opening my mouth to chat; wouldn’t you agree?" This was a threat.

Oh... Honestly, he had a lot of patience.

Especially when it came to Mu Lin. He truly believed he had no temper with her.

After saying this, Bi’an turned, heading towards the other direction. He lazily waved to Tang Qian, "I hope this is the last time we meet." He could only offer silent condolences for Tang Qian’s predicament. That woman was anything but kind.

Watching Bi’an’s retreating figure, Tang Qian’s gloomy face mirrored the storm brewing, similar to the pitch-dark night sky devoid of any stars.

Tang Qian hadn’t expected Bi’an to withdraw himself from this matter at this particular time. Tragically, Bi’an was too cunning. After all these years, all Tang Qian knew was that the man was from one of their families, but couldn’t identify his true identity. Moreover, he had numerous unsettled scores with Bi’an.

Therefore, Tang Qian was helpless about Bi’an’s withdrawal.

Even though Bi’an’s reasons were valid, Tang Qian’s intuition told him that Mu Lin was involved in this. Or else, after all these years, Bi’an wouldn’t choose to back out now.

It seemed that Mu Lin might have already discovered the entire truth.

A little over three years ago, had he not encountered Tang Qichuan by chance, he would never have thought that Tang Qichuan would make it out alive from their labyrinth-like forest. He had underestimated Tang Qichuan, Tang Qichuan, born with a silver spoon, who he envied no end. He would not have come up with such a plan to ruin his life otherwise.

Who’d have thought! That was when he learnt that the child wasn’t dead yet and was quite lucky to be alive. Thankfully, Lady Luck sided with him as he discovered them once again.

Even then, Tang Qian hadn’t discovered Mu Lin’s existence. But now, there was no need for further speculation.

The existence of Tang Qichuan and Mu Lin was a danger that could disrupt and destroy their plan to take over the Gong Family anytime. It was then that he sought out Bi’an’s organization: Skynet.

The assassin organization asserting its dominance over C Province eventually led to the current chaos.
