Mated at First Sight -
Chapter 739 - 491
Chapter 739: 491
"Under normal circumstances, I should be able to help." Jing Chen nodded, but his eyes were still cautiously focused on the man’s hand. The dagger in his hand was too close to the child’s neck, and the slightest movement could slice the delicate throat open. Even Jing Chen wouldn’t dare to act rashly.
Compared to controlling this man, ensuring the child’s safety was the highest priority at the moment.
Jing Chen wondered, if the child in the man’s hand were his, whether he could remain as composed as he was now. Just the thought of such a scenario terrified him, let alone allowing such a thing to happen.
Like he was mulling over something, the man looked at Jing Chen and raised his head, "Fine, then have them let me go. I want to leave. I am frightened up here."
His face revealed guilt, fear, and a hidden tinge of insanity.
"Well, I need to think about this and consult with the Captain of the plane." Jing Chen comforted him, "Perhaps, you could hand me the child first, and I’ll walk you to the front to ask what can be done?"
Jing Chen moved a small step closer, but hearing Jing Chen’s suggestion, the man promptly stepped back and looked at Jing Chen warily, "No, you have to let me leave first. I want to leave now." His irrational expression made him seem like a child.
Jing Chen’s skills were somehow restrained here; it felt a bit like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.
The man remained wary of Jing Chen, "I know, if I give this to you, you’ll tie me up." He remembered that was what people had done to him before, "You’ll tie me up, hang me up, and beat me."
His pitiful voice began to stir sympathy among some of the onlookers.
Some even thought that perhaps he would not have turned out this way had he not been beaten so much.
People often feel sympathy for the weak, especially when the weak have been brutally oppressed. Many can empathize with them.
"Don’t worry. Others might do that, but I definitely won’t." Jing Chen took another step closer, "If you don’t believe me, we can make a pinky promise."
Witnessing this, Mu Lin couldn’t help but chuckle in the back. Was Jing Chen really trying to pacify this guy like a child? It didn’t seem to be working.
A promise is a promise for a hundred years and a liar is a puppy.
Jing Chen affirmed that he had never had to show this much patience before.
Unfortunately, the man was not swayed by his attempt. Probably someone had tried this tactic on him and succeeded, only to later}... turn him into a puppy.
A promise broken turns one into a lying puppy.
This man must have been brutally oppressed at some point; his fear was overwhelmingly evident.
Cases like this were not uncommon to Mu Lin; she had come across several instances online.
Many people tend to discriminate against individuals with mental disorders, even if you pay for their care, not everyone will be patient with them, which is a fairly common phenomenon.
She admitted she’s not a particularly patient person; but in dealing with the man here, patience seemed to be the best approach.
Her eyebrows slightly furrowed, Mu Lin took a couple of steps forward, ignoring the stewardess’s attempt to stop her. She walked up to Jing Chen’s side, "Chen." She seemed to have thought of a way to get the child back.
With a little more patience, it might just work.
Seeing Mu Lin, Jing Chen unconsciously frowned, "Linlin, what are you doing here? Go back." His voice was a little harsh; didn’t he say he wanted her to wait on the side?
However, Mu Lin just shook her head, "I’ve come to help you."
Much to her dismay, Jing Chen simply shook his head sternly, "I can handle it." This was a small matter to him, and he believed he could find a breakthrough soon.
Although it’s a bit troublesome, Jing Chen figured it wasn’t too daunting.
"But he’s scared of you." Mu Lin looked at him, "Your aura is too dangerous for him. Ordinary people may not sense it, but he isn’t ordinary. His instincts are telling him that you’re a threat." This was intuition; therefore, "Chen, it’s going to be very hard for you to get close to him or deceive him." With a slight smile, Mu Lin wondered if she was taking joy in Jing Chen’s struggle!
Feeling a bit out of his depth was not a sensation Jing Chen was accustomed to.
Looking at Jing Chen, Mu Lin lightly laughed, "I think those tricks you were trying earlier were used ones." So, "Chen, this is really not your forte, so there’s no need to force it." Some advantages were naturally bestowed upon women.
As for her Chen, he was made for taking on major tasks. Matters like this would be left to her.
Listening to Mu Lin’s words, Jing Chen was lost for words.
Gently gripping his palm, Mu Lin said, "Let me deal with it."
However, hearing Mu Lin’s words, Jing Chen still furrowed his eyebrows. Ignoring him, Mu Lin gently laughed to placate him. Moments later, she took a small step forward, smiling softly at the man, "Hi, my name is Mu Lin. What’s yours?"
In contrast to others’ vigilance, Mu Lin seemed relaxed. Her aura was calm and warm, making those around her feel comfortable and secure.
One can’t deny the aptness of the saying "Don’t judge a book by its cover" when it came to Mu Lin.
After all, when Mu Lin becomes dangerous, even Jing Chen might not be able to rival her.
As for Jing Chen, he stood stone-faced, his gaze fixed on Mu Lin. He was ready to spring into action at the slightest sign of trouble, like a poised leopard.
However, he was still slightly restrained.
