Chapter 672: Chapter 442: Up Against It (Second update)_2

Jing Chen didn’t speak. He just held her in his embrace and blamed himself. Every time Mu Lin was in danger, he was not by her side. As her other half, he felt he was not performing his duties. Mu Lin, however, could sense his current emotions and didn’t struggle out of his embrace. Instead, the corners of her mouth slightly curled up into a smile.

In fact, she quite enjoyed seeing him worry for her. It gave her an inexplicable sense of satisfaction.

All the onlookers were in shock, astounded by the entrance of this man. The crisis had passed, but when they saw Jing Chen steadily walking towards Mu Lin and pulling her into his embrace, they realized that his presence was not to save them, but for this girl, the girl who had immediately drawn everyone’s attention.

They were now genuinely curious about her identity. Who could she be?

Countless eyes were on them, filled with jealousy, envy, shock, and resentment.

All these gazes, however, didn’t affect Jing Chen and Mu Lin in the slightest.

After giving a command to a soldier, Jing Tian strolled up to the couple. Glancing at them, he commented, "Big brother, when will you stop torturing us singles?"

Attempting to use a light-hearted remark to divert Jing Chen’s attention, Jing Tian knew his brother was experiencing complex emotions. Then he turned to Mu Lin, "Sister-in-law, it seems like some big event occurred during your feast. Damn, what a tragedy!" Then, surveying the room filled with bodies, "In such a wide daylight, it’s too ostentatious. Seems like we forgot we are living in a society with the rule of law.

Jing Chen released Mu Lin and turned to look at Jing Tian.

Jing Tian gave him a subtle nod. "I’ve already sent someone to inform the police outside. They should still be around." He cast his gaze toward the security camera in the hall.

No one had noticed such a significant event. It seemed like all the security cameras on this floor must have malfunctioned.

Situations like these were easier to handle if left to the police.

Jing Chen nodded in response.

Mu Lin briefly spoke to Jing Chen and then, releasing his hand, she turned and slowly started walking towards the man nearby.

"Bro, it seems you’ve got a rival in love," Jing Tian remarked, looking at Mi Zheng. The man gave him a strong sense of danger. He is sure his brother must feel the same. It was a kind of intuition that was inherent in their family.

Where on earth did his sister-in-law meet such a person? Could it be today?

Jing Chen didn’t reply. He just followed Mu Lin, reaching her side and wrapping his arm around her slender waist, unabashedly declaring his ownership. His sharp and profound gaze was coldly set on the man standing before Mu Lin, his intimidating aura unrestrained.

He didn’t like the way the man was looking at his fiancée.

"So, he’s her fiancé?" Gong Ning’s cold voice echoed near Sun Yao, who came back to reality and nodded in affirmation.

Gong Ning chuckled, "I see why Tiantian adores him. He’s indeed a top catch." His sharp features, his righteousness, the uniform that seemed tailor-made for him; and not only him but also the other man, who called Mu Lin sister-in-law, was equally impressive.

Although this man had some resemblance to Mi Zheng, his aura was completely different, especially in the military uniform, a strange mixture of charm and righteousness, which made him appear more attractive than Mi Zheng.

All the men from Jing family were indeed premium quality.

Gong Yu watched the intimacy between the two with surprise - they did look like a perfect match. Quan Luo, on the other hand, had stars in his eyes, almost to the point of infatuation, completely forgetting her earlier fear.

Quan Luo thought men in uniform were definitely the most handsome. Mu Lin was lucky indeed to have found such a top-notch man. She felt a pang of jealousy.

Mu Lin could sense the tightening of his arm around her waist and an idea flashed in her mind. Was he jealous?

Jealous of whom?

Mu Lin instinctively glanced at Mi Zheng standing before her.

Could it be him? Was he doubting her taste?

For Mu Lin, even if she did take an interest in another man, it definitely wouldn’t be Mi Zheng. There was a grudge between them, and more importantly, she wasn’t inclined towards very handsome men.

Mi Zheng saw Jing Chen’s hand on Mu Lin’s waist. A cold gleam flashed in his eyes. He looked back at Jing Chen with a smile, "Mi Zheng." He extended his hand towards Jing Chen as his chilly lips curled up into a weird smile.

This was the man who had proposed to her.

Mi Zheng was certain about it.

"Jing Chen, Linlin’s fiancé." Jing Chen didn’t shake hands but calmly introduced himself.

Mi Zheng raised an eyebrow, his lips curling into a seductive smile, "Only a fiancé, huh? Seems like I still have a chance." His face seemed to show relief.

Jing Tian raised his eyebrows; this guy was provoking his brother. It seemed like he had a death wish.

"If you’re not afraid to die." He could give it a try.

This was both a threat and a warning, but Mi Zheng didn’t seem to care. A woman as interesting as Mu Lin was too good for him to let go.

Not because he liked her or for any other reason. He simply believed that they were the perfect match.

Mu Lin gently squeezed Jing Chen’s hand around her waist. She stared coldly at Mi Zheng as a reminder, "I won." She hoped he wouldn’t forget what he had said before.
