"What should I call that?"
"Call it mom!"
"Or you can call it mother-in-law too."
As long as you don’t call her sister, you can choose between these two options. Look at how nice he is, even giving her a choice.
Mu Lin was speechless and didn’t bother to deal with him, always feeling that he was trying to deceive her.
"Linlin," Jing Chen said, looking at Mu Lin and suddenly became serious. Mu Lin unconsciously looked up at him.
"When are you willing to marry me?" For some reason, these words suddenly slipped out. Jing Chen didn’t know why they did. What he wanted to say was not something like this at all.
Mu Lin looked at him, her eyebrows slightly furrowed.
Actually, Jing Chen has always wanted to get Mu Lin on his household register book. No one knew that he had prepared the engagement ring long before they were together.
But Mu Lin had her own things to deal with. Before she finished them, Jing Chen somehow felt constrained. More importantly, he could feel that although Mu Lin was willing to be with him, she had never thought about marrying.
As long as the issues with her master were not dealt with, Mu Lin would always have a lump in her heart, a barrier. Jing Chen didn’t want to bother her with such matters.
But as time passed, his unease grew stronger. Jing Chen’s intuition told him that if he didn’t marry Mu Lin soon, things may get more troublesome in the future.
He really had that kind of feeling, especially after coming to C Province, where his sense of unease was stronger. Hence, he felt even more restless.
"Linlin, don’t you want to?" Seeing Mu Lin’s furrowed brows, Jing Chen laughed. No one noticed his nerves. "It’s okay. We can talk about this issue later." As expected, his Linlin had no thought about these matters.
However, after Jing Chen finished speaking, Mu Lin looked at him, "Why should we get married?" Mu Lin was even more confused about marriage than she was about dating.
What is marriage?
Do two people have to get married to be together? Mu Lin felt that being with Jing Chen as they are right now was perfect.
Upon hearing Mu Lin’s question, Jing Chen was taken aback at first, but he soon laughed. "Marriage is for ensuring two people can be together more conveniently for a lifetime." That’s probably how he would explain it. "Once we’re married, no one would be able to covet you." And if someone dared to covet her, he would definitely eliminate them.
Even if they hadn’t married, it would be the same.
Mu Lin raised her eyebrows. "So you mean, if you and I get married, no one would get the chance to covet you, right?" Mu Lin drew an inference from another.
"Linlin is so smart." Jing Chen praised her with a smile.
Mu Lin smirked, her lips curling up at the corners. "Well, let’s get married then." Mu Lin never thought that one day she would leave Jing Chen. So, if he wanted to get married, then if it made him happy, it was alright.
Mu Lin just hoped for Jing Chen to be happy.
And, Mu Lin didn’t like it when other people coveted Jing Chen.
"Linlin... you mean it?" From childhood to adulthood, Jing Chen had never thought that he would one day be at such a loss for words, just looking at Mu Lin incredulously, not believing that happiness arrived so soon.
He hadn’t even proposed yet. He just wanted to test the waters.
He... he never expected Mu Lin to agree.
The thoughts of his girl were sometimes really hard to understand. No one could accurately guess what she would say or do next.
"Really." Mu Lin nodded without hesitation, her hand cradling his excited face. She gave him a big peck and smiled brilliantly.
Jing Chen seemed to be really happy.
Once he received confirmation, without any hesitation, he pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly.
The next moment, he suddenly pushed Mu Lin away, rummaging through his pockets with both hands until he found a dark red small box. Inside was a diamond ring which he promptly slipped onto Mu Lin’s ring finger.
He did so straightforwardly and decisively.
"I heard that this thing is the hardest substance in the world. If you come across something that you can’t break or shatter, this should come in pretty handy," Jing Chen explained.
Mu Lin looked at the ring on her hand, which was dazzling under the light. The corners of her mouth curled up even more. It seemed, something had changed.
If the people of the Jing family knew that Jing Chen’s proposal scene was this and his introduction of the ring was also this, they would probably doubt how he could marry his daughter-in-law, the legendary Poison Doctor. Turns out... she’s so easy to trick!
However, this scenario was quite acceptable to Mu Lin. If you talk to her about the ring’s value, she wouldn’t understand. But if you talk about its practicality, she would certainly understand.
It had to be said, Jing Chen really understood Mu Lin.
An eccentric couple, an eccentric proposal, an eccentric acceptance, an eccentric introduction - everything was so odd, yet so natural, flowing freely.
Sure enough, Jing Chen and Mu Lin were a match made in heaven.
Jing Chen found that as long as he held the person in his arms, his heart was full. Otherwise, he would only be filled with empty thoughts.
The next morning, when Mu Lin opened her eyes and sat up, Jing Chen had already dressed and turned around, walked to her side, then gently kissed her eyes and lips, saying, "Wait for me to come back." He would try to return as soon as possible to accompany her to the unknown banquet.
Mu Lin nodded, observed his retreating figure disappear, then lay back down and gave a small yawn.
One minute later, she sat up, got up and washed up, then went out for her morning run.
When Mu Lin passed by the Seal Camp training ground, the soldiers were still training. But the people she knew were no longer there, including Jing Tian.
She really wanted to join him on his mission, but he rejected her; he reasoned that he didn’t want to interfere with what she cares about most.
They had just parted, yet she already began to miss him.
Gazing at the newly added ring on her ring finger, Mu Lin grinned.
Well, it looks pretty good.
...
This is a corner of C Province.
Sun Yao quietly sat there, waiting for something unknown, her gaze fixed on the teaptable in front of her, but her thoughts had long since wandered far away.
Sun Yao did not expect that even after she had directly revealed everything to that old fox Jiang Po, Mu Lin had been in C Province for quite some time without him making a move. Other than a polite invitation to the Jiang Family to discuss some matters, there hadn’t been any other action.
What was he trying to do, intentionally being amicable with that woman, Mu Lin? Sun Yao was writhing with anger.
True to his fox-like nature, he even sent people to Ming City to investigate her and the Sun Family.
Hehe...if he could find anything on her, then she wouldn’t be Sun Yao, even if he hoped to catch her red-handed.
Such a pity, Sun Yao thought, that Jiang Po didn’t go after Mu Lin. All her meticulous planning, all for nothing.
Sun Yao’s plan was pretty good; using Jiang Po to deal with Mu Lin and Mu Lin to deal with Jiang Po, both sides falling would be beneficial her, or better yet both sides severely wounded for the Sun Family to seize the opportunity to strike.
A case of killing two birds with one stone.
Although her scheming was good, and her acting was on point, however cunning Jiang Po proved himself to be.
Her motives were so obvious.
Just then, noise from the walkway pulled Sun Yao back to reality. She moved her mouth slightly, then stood up. Raising her head, she put on a stunning smile, as if her previous self was not her. Her mood changed so quickly.
"Ningning." She stood and walked towards the girl slowly walking down the staircase, her eyes full of admiration.
The pure black gothic long dress, layers of lace, showing her fragrant shoulders. In every step, a captivating curve was revealed. The sharp and cute melon-seed face, curly hair brushed against the cheeks, her red lip upturned slightly, elegant and noble. Like a vampire roaming in the dark, with irresistible charm, one would willingly fall for her.
"Ningning is indeed the most beautiful woman in the world." Looking at the girl in front of herself, Sun Yao flattered without hesitation. But how much of it was heartfelt, only she knew. Gong Ning smiled back, it was practical.
She has always had high confidence in her looks.
"What’s up?" Gong Ning walked down the stairs and stopped in front of Sun Yao, "What were you thinking about just now?" She asked with a hint of concern.
"Nothing." Sun Yao shook her head, then let out a slow sigh.
"Still bothered by the matter with that woman you mentioned earlier." With a subtle smile on her dark red lips, Gong Ning walked towards the couch. She sat down casually, her long legs gently crossed over each other, and she slightly leaned back, exuding a languid air, looking at Sun Yao, "This doesn’t seem like you."
"I remember, Sun Yao, you are always well-organized in everything you do. You always get what you want through your own efforts, and by any means necessary." She chuckled, "Why have you been failing again and again this time?" She felt slightly disappointed about this.
Gong Ning suddenly became interested in Sun Yao’s opponent.
Hearing Gong Ning’s words, Sun Yao pursed her lips, "This person is indeed a bit difficult to deal with." She had to admit this; Mu Lin was not easy to handle.
The reputation of the Poison Doctor was not for nothing.
Hearing Sun Yao’s words, Gong Ning laughed, "That’s because you haven’t truly exhausted all means." She looked at her lazily, "Do whatever you want to do. If anything happens, I’ll handle it."
"In C Province, or anywhere else for that matter, I think most people would give face to our Gong Family."
"I think you should understand this best, shouldn’t you?"
