Chapter 631: Chapter 418: An Acquaintance? (First Update)_2
Of course, Tang Qishan shook his head, "Why would I mind? Welcome to visit." The identity of Gu Muqing differs quite a bit from them, pure businessmen. Not just anyone could have the privilege of her presence.
Though they had no business transactions between them, Tang Qishan always had great respect for this strong woman who single-handedly uplifted the Gu Family and even took it a notch higher.
Afterwards, everybody entered the house.
"Where are the herbal medicines?" asked Mu Lin.
"They are all in the kitchen, as well as the medicine pots." Mu Lin had asked him to prepare a coal stove and medicine pots, and he had everything ready.
"Okay." Mu Lin nodded, then turned to Gu Muqing, "Sister Qing, could you wait for me outside? It might take some time." Otherwise, she wouldn’t have come so early today.
Calling her Sister Qing was something that Mu Lin had decided upon after considerable deliberation; she couldn’t bring herself to call her mother-in-law, and even less so, mother. She didn’t feel right calling her aunt following Jing Tian, and Gu Muqing felt that it sounded strange. Aunt sounded old, therefore, finally, she decided on calling her Sister Qing, a term that Gu Muqing seemed temporarily satisfied with.
For a moment, Gu Muqing felt as though she was on an equal footing with her own son. She wondered what his reaction would be when he heard about it.
Presumably, Gu Muqing had asked Mu Lin to address her in this way so that she could see Jing Chen’s reaction.
Hearing Mu Lin’s words, Gu Muqing nodded, and Mu Lin turned towards the kitchen. Tang Jun was curious and followed, ready to assist in any way, while Tang Qishan stayed in the living room to chat with Gu Muqing.
As both were businessmen, they had a fair amount to talk about, as well as some experience to share.
Making the medicine took Mu Lin nearly two hours. Tang Jun stated, for the first time, he realized how complicated it was to brew Chinese herbs.
How big a fire to use at the beginning, how big to switch to in the middle, what temperature to cook each herb at, the sequence of adding the dozens of herbs, watching Mu Lin brew the herbs was mind-blowing for Tang Jun.
He couldn’t remember anything.
On top of that, many of the herbs looked the same to him, but Mu Lin identified them with ease.
For the first time, Tang Jun truly felt admiration for a Chinese Medicine Doctor.
Compared to Western medicine, the theory of Chinese medicine is indeed much more complicated. How much knowledge did Mu Lin have in her mind?
It is often said that Western medicine cures symptoms while Chinese medicine treats the root. Tang Jun wondered if Mu Lin could also prescribe him some tonic medicine to boost his health.
Dozens of herbs were eventually boiled into just two small bowls of liquid.
One bowl for ingestion, the other for external application.
"Please take these two bowls of medicine to your mother’s room for me." Mu Lin instructed Tang Jun, "Remember, don’t spill them or break the bowls." She had put a lot of effort into it.
The medicine should be neither too much nor too little. She had almost not been able to control it properly just now.
Seeing Mu Lin come out, the two people who were originally sitting there and conversing very amiably immediately got up and went to Mu Lin, "How is it?" Gu Muqing asked, while Tang Qishan looked at her, slightly expectant.
"The medicine has been brewed. I had Tang Jun take it upstairs." Mu Lin said.
Tang Qishan asked, "Do we need to prepare anything else?"
Mu Lin shook her head, "No need, we should go upstairs." She then turned to Gu Muqing, "Sister Qing, I might need your help too." She was going to need an assistant.
Mu Lin must be the first person to start giving orders to her mother-in-law even before moving in.
"Okay." Gu Muqing responded; she preferred lending a hand than just standing idle by the side.
For Gu Muqing, being involved in everything about Mu Lin was a good thing, she felt it aided their bonding.
The three of them went upstairs, while Tang Jun was already there, waiting anxiously. However, when Mu Lin looked at him, she said, "You can leave now." Her light voice, let people feel doubtful, why should only Tang Jun leave, isn’t it better to have more people to help?
"Why?" Tang Jun asked quizzically.
"When I perform acupuncture, your mother can’t be wearing clothes." Mu Lin said lightly, looking Tang Jun in the eyes, raising an eyebrow. Did he want to stay and watch? Actually, she didn’t mind.
Of all four of them, he seemed to be the only one who shouldn’t be there, even if they were mother and son.
"I..." Hearing Mu Lin’s words, Tang Jun fell silent. Even though he really wanted to stay, it wasn’t suitable. Even though he wanted to do something for his mother, now he had to wait anxiously outside. Waiting was indeed the hardest part.
Mu Lin allowed him to bring up the medicine because she knew he wanted to play his part. This was his way of contributing.
After Tang Jun left, he shut the door behind him.
Mu Lin turned to Tang Qishan, "You can feed Mrs. Tang this bowl of medicine first." She would use the other bowl later.
These two bowls of medicine may look the same, but they weren’t, the difference being the addition of a particular toxic herb in one of them. That was something Mu Lin had brought with her. Although the herb is quite common in Black Forest, she didn’t think it would be available in these Chinese medicine clinics now. If she didn’t have some with her, she wouldn’t have given them only three days.
Tang Qishan nodded, walked over to the bed, helped Shen Wei up and leaned her against the headboard, then reached out for the bowl of medicine.
But the next moment.
"Little Weiwei!" A startled voice filled with disbelief echoed in Mu Lin’s and Tang Qishan’s ears.
