Chapter 619: Chapter 411 A Little Fish Got Hooked (Second Update)_2
That speed almost blinded the nearby staff member.
Dang. Was this even a woman?
The Military Jeep steadily moved, slowly entering the suburban area, while not too far behind, a car followed at a constant pace, neither too fast nor too slow.
At first glance, it didn’t seem suspicious. However, Mu Lin tried altering her speed out of curiosity. If she sped up, the vehicle behind would speed up; if she slowed down, the vehicle would match her pace.
Such a blatant pursuit method, was this person even professionally trained?
Mu Lin’s suspicion was justified.
Regrettably, a woman in love’s IQ is usually less than zero. Considering this, she was doing pretty well.
Her eyebrows flicked upward, the smile in her eyes revealing an indescribable coldness, which chilled to the bone.
She leisurely took out her phone and dialed Xiu Weiqi’s number.
"Doctor Mu?" On receiving the call from Mu Lin, Xiu Weiqi seemed puzzled. Did Mu Lin leave anything at his place? He glanced at the place where Mu Lin was sitting just now, but there seemed to be nothing.
You had to admit, the man had a pretty strong intuition.
"Officer Xiu, it appears a small fish has taken the bait," said Mu Lin in a cool, mildly narrating tone. Yet to Xiu Weiqi, it was surprisingly delightful news.
"Where are you?" He abruptly stood up, concern coloring his sudden question.
The bait had been taken so quickly? Surprisingly fast. They had just discussed this matter; it was somewhat overwhelming.
"Seems like a small fish acting of its own accord," continued Mu Lin. "The road from downtown C Province to the military outskirts, will take us about forty minutes to reach Military Area." Mu Lin made an estimate based on previous experience. Normally she wouldn’t make such a mistake. The most she could be off by was a minute or two.
It was quite a distance ahead. Would it be rushed if they drove there now? "Can you slow it down a little?" he blurted out.
Mu Lin replied, "Usually, I can’t."
From the police station to here, even at their fastest, it would take at least an hour. Was she supposed to spend an hour idle on this road? By then, her pursuer would’ve caught onto something abnormal.
She may as well take the matter into her own hands.
There was silence on the other end of the phone, then Mu Lin asked, "How many personnel have you arranged for my undercover assistance?"
"Three." Xiu Weiqi didn’t know why Mu Lin asked this. Despite having three of his capable men, the enemy wasn’t to be trifled with. His men were no match for them.
Three people were no match at all. They were being sent to their deaths.
However, Mu Lin said, "Three people. That’s enough."
"What’s that supposed to mean?" Xiu Weiqi didn’t quite get it.
Mu Lin smirked, "I mean, three people are enough to bring someone back." It looked like she would have to do it herself. It had been quite a while since she had a good fight. It would be a stress reliever.
Mu Lin had no qualms about venting her anger towards the Organization onto Fen Xiao.
Plain and simple.
"Are you sure you want this little underling?" asked Mu Lin. "Although I’m not sure what her exact role is, one thing is clear — she has been assigned to stalk me privately. As for whether any action will be taken, I’m not sure. But then again, it’s not my concern." It was a pity, though. Even Mu Lin had to admit she was quite the operative with impressive reflexes and surveillance skills.
After a moment of silence, Xiu Weiqi replied, "Yes." His plain words masked an unshakable resolve.
Seeing how things were unfolding, Mu Lin understood.
Initially, she had planned on keeping her around, but then Mu Lin realized there was no advantage in doing so. Thus, she decided to take matters into her hands.
Since she had put herself in this situation...
Not far behind the cars were Mu Lin and Fen Xiao, another car was treading quite calmly, maintaining a considerable distance. Even the surveillance agents hadn’t noticed it.
They claimed to keep their distance to avoid discovery.
"Understood." Nodding, he finally hung up the call, a puzzled look on his face.
"What happened?" One of the passengers asked, "Were we assigned a new task?"
"Yes," the man responded, "Mu Lin is being followed, and it’s a bit precarious. We are supposed to help."
"What did you say?" He seemed a little incredulous as he turned to look in Mu Lin’s direction.
The other continued, "Have you noticed the white car steadily following Mu Lin?" The others nodded in response, "You mean..."
"That’s right. The woman in the car is from their Organization." This was an unexpected godsend.
"What!" One man exclaimed, turning to look at him in astonishment, "Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go and capture her!" This was their first time so close to one of the Organization’s agents. Such a golden opportunity couldn’t be missed.
With this in mind, he quickly told the laid-back driver, "Xiongzi, quickly, follow them closer." He was rubbing his hands together with anticipation, clearly an impulsive character.
"Wait, Xiongzi." Seeing Xiongzi about to step on the gas, another man hastily intervened, "We were told to just monitor the situation from afar."
"Why?"
"It was Mu Lin’s request," He said frowning.
"I don’t care about her request, this is an opportunity we’ve never had before." If the woman slipped away, what would they do?
"This is an order."
