Chapter 600: Chapter 401: Rejoicing in the Misfortune of Others (Third Watch)_2

The group of people looked at each other, their disappointment barely hidden. However, no one took it upon themselves to counter Jing Tian’s words.

Having worked under Jing Tian for so long, they knew that if he made such a decision, there must be a reason. Unfortunately, their commanding officer always liked to reveal the truth later rather than sooner, under the guise of creating a ’surprise’.

In reality, these ’surprises’ usually brought them shocks, which could only be described as harrowing.

The members of Seal Team felt that this was just the commander’s idea of fun.

As such, they did not object, but that didn’t mean others wouldn’t, especially those couple of women who wanted to pick on Mu Lin and enjoy the drama.

Mu Lin had this unique ability to attract naysayers wherever she went.

It wasn’t just the disparaging looks they gave her. They also liked to act superior and start unnecessary feuds.

Mu Lin admitted that she didn’t enjoy this; but there was no help for it.

In this world, love naturally begets hatred; joy invariably brings about annoyance. This is an unchanging rule throughout the ages.

They were annoying, a wasteful distraction.

Instead of dealing with such nuisances, she’d rather spend her precious American time chatting over the phone with her family.

"Commander!" A loud clear voice echoed in everyone’s ears. Two women in military attire walked forward, their stance exuding a certain valiance. The women stood before Jing Tian, casting sidelong glances at Mu Lin in disdain, their faces expressing nothing but contempt.

Mu Lin raised an eyebrow.

It seemed the troublemakers had arrived again.

"Commander." One of them addressed Jing Tian, asking, "Did you just say she is the same Mu Lin who previously shamed our people?"

Jing Tian quirked his lips, "Indeed." As he responded, his gaze turned towards Mu Lin.

Looking at the intimidating attitude of the two women, Jing Tian could almost guess their purpose.

The duo turned to face Mu Lin, their faces revealing nothing friendly. "We want to challenge you." Their words were not an inquiry, but an outright challenge.

hearing this, Lin Shan, the third team’s captain, along with Zhong Yi, cast doubtful glances at her.

A challenge! These two?

The pair seemed brainless for challenging Mu Lin, convinced they wouldn’t last more than a few moves.

"I think they aim to avenge Ye Qing." Yuan Yu whispered into Zhong Yi’s ear.

Zhong Yi raised an eyebrow, "Had you not mentioned it, I would have almost forgotten about that woman in our team." He scoffed, his face filled with disdain.

He held no respect for women who were conceited and overrated themselves. With such women gone, they felt the air much more refreshing.

True, Ye Qing was one of the few women in their team who was skilled and capable. But so what?

The two men whispered close enough for Mu Lin to catch their conversation.

Ye Qing? Mu Lin didn’t quite recollect her.

She pondered, and then a smile appeared on her face.

So it was the woman whose hand she broke the other day. Well, were these two her minions? This just got interesting. They clearly wanted to avenge their friend.

As she calmly looked at the two challengers, Mu Lin’s lips curved into a sardonic smile. Her provoking laugh, seemingly a taunt, instantly stoked the pair’s rage to its highest point.

Jing Tian face palmed, Mu Lin was clearly fanning the flames.

"What are you laughing at, what does your laugh mean?" One of them, her eyes cold and hard, glared at Mu Lin as if she was looking at her worst enemy and she wanted to tear her in pieces. The other woman, however, was more composed, "Don’t let her provoke you. She is doing it on purpose."

By their perspective, Mu Lin’s disdainful attitude was a clear provocation. She wanted to goad them into striking first, and then let their commander step in to stop them. By doing so, she could easily win the situation and even lead to their punishment by the commander.

It was indeed a clever but malicious plan.

They had to admit, it was a good plot - albeit majorly overthought. Perhaps they should have been scriptwriters, they could probably write an impressive palace drama depicting the heart of a woman.

"What do you want to challenge?" Jing Tian didn’t stop them; there wasn’t any need to. They already had issued the challenge, and if he were to refuse it, others would doubt Mu Lin’s abilities. Was she as formidable as Lin Shan claimed? Right, he couldn’t let that happen. It would be a betrayal to his family, especially his uncle and aunt, and his elder brother.

Seems like his inner thoughts didn’t escape her. Mu Lin glanced at him with raised eyebrows.

He shouldn’t think that she was blind to his somewhat excited expression.

You are pleased with the mess, aren’t you? Wait for your entertainment, but don’t blame her for showing no mercy later.

Feeling her gaze, Jing Tian’s mouth, which hinted at excitement, suddenly stiffened.

He second-guessed whether inciting the fierce Mu Lin was a wise choice or not. Something big could transpire afterward.

If Mu Lin were to get hurt here, he could be assured that his boss would tear him apart, even if the rational part of his brain didn’t think she could get hurt with her abilities.

Despite these thoughts, an almost evil grin spread across his face.

He valued the present over the future.

So... missing out on such an entertaining show would indeed be regrettable, so how could he let himself down?
