Chapter 560: Chapter 379: The Direction of Things (Second Update)_2

As for the rest, Mu Lin admitted, she could only gradually dig deeper later, even if she was quite anxious.

Then she turned to Black Star, asking, "When did you leave Ming City?" She was curious if he had possibly uncovered something, which could be why he was here now.

"It was probably about a month ago," Black Star replied. "Initially, I came to Ming City on a mission, but then I discovered the traces of those people in Ming City, so I’ve stayed here ever since."

Mu Lin nodded thoughtfully, it seemed they just missed each other’s timing.

Looking at him, "I’ve confirmed the situation about the presence of their organization in Ming City that you told me about earlier. Sadly, I could only find a gathering of their underlings, I didn’t find any information after storming their den." Mu Lin was somewhat disappointed, especially since it had required a lot of her energy, even forcing her to become a bodyguard.

If it wasn’t for that stranger who challenged her and led her here, she might have arrived in Ming City much later.

Looking at it from this perspective, Mu Lin reckoned she should probably thank this Mister Bi’an sincerely.

Black Star nodded, "What about now?" He wondered about Mu Lin’s current plans.

"Now..." Mu Lin smirked, "Did you forget that I’ve just arrived in the vast C Province? I think it would be more appropriate for me to ask you this question."

There were some things that Mu Lin didn’t want to share with anyone.

Though this man in front of her had informed her about the organization, it didn’t mean that she had to trust him.

After all, they had only met twice; she saved him, and he had paid his dues. Their dealings were clear. If he hadn’t sought her out today, Mu Lin suspected they would never meet again.

Hearing Mu Lin’s words, Black Star didn’t react much. He could tell she didn’t plan on sharing anything with him. Nevertheless, he didn’t mind, after all, he originally decided to investigate the matter as a way to repay her for saving his life.

He was only trying to lend a hand.

If she doesn’t want to share, she must have her own plans, he can simply assist from the sidelines if she needs it.

Then, Black Star shared some of what he knew with Mu Lin. Raising an eyebrow, Mu Lin asked, "Are you suggesting the Jiang family and the Tang family in C Province both have close ties with that organization?" Suddenly, Mu Lin thought of Tang Qishan, whom she had met at the investment meeting that day and she furrowed her brows involuntarily.

She didn’t know why, but she found her thoughts quite complicated at the moment.

Could it be possible that the man who reminded her of her Master was really her enemy? If she could choose, Mu Lin wouldn’t prefer this truth; but if her Master’s death was related to him, she would show no mercy.

She vowed to get to the bottom of this matter.

As for the Jiang family, the only name that comes to her mind when she thinks of the Jiang surname is...

Jiang Tiantian.

In her opinion, a household that could raise a woman who dared to covet her man, such as Jiang Tiantian, couldn’t be much good. However, whether they have ties to the organization still required further investigation.

Listening to Mu Lin’s words, Black Star nodded, "At least the clues I know so far suggest so." However, he paused and continued, "Despite that, everyone here in C Province knows about the rumored discord between Jiang family’s Jiang Po and Tang Qishan of the Tang family. The deeper you delve, the more complex and abnormal things you discover. To thoroughly investigate would be no simple task." Despite being here for over a month, he still hasn’t found anything useful.

Whether it’s the Jiang family or the Tang family, their waters all run very deep.

Whether their conflict is genuine or just a show, probably no one knows.

The truth, it’s never that simple.

Mu Lin nodded and contemplated with her eyes downcast. She then smiled faintly, "I understand. Thank you." At least, there were some things she didn’t have to figure out herself. Today’s arrival of Black Star has given her a good direction to pursue.

It seemed like she would have to further ponder the relationships and circumstances at hand.

Staying too late in a single woman’s room wasn’t quite appropriate. Having said all that needed to be said, it was time to take his leave.

Despite sneaking in, he left quite openly. Mu Lin never wondered how Black Star got in; as a professional assassin, breaking in should be easy, otherwise what kind of an assassin would he be?

Mu Lin found those words strangely familiar, as if she’d heard them before.

Yes, it was indeed a very sensible statement.

Without overthinking it, Mu Lin decided to get some sleep at the appropriate time.

The next day, just as breakfast time was over and Mu Lin was about to rise, the doorbell rang. Instinctively, she turned and moved toward the door.

Upon opening the door, she found two men dressed in suits and leather shoes, their mouths adorned with uniformly professional smiles. Upon seeing Mu Lin, they first bowed respectfully to her, exuding perfect courtesy. Both of them were holding an invitation... Mu Lin glanced at it, was it... an invitation?

With raised eyebrows, Mu Lin calmly regarded the two men in front of her. Her mouth curved into a leisurely smile, "May I ask, what brings you here?"
