Chapter 536: Chapter 366 - Obviously Saying the Truth (First Update)_2

Mu Lin’s words may be a bit blunt and unpleasant, but he believed she was being honest. Furthermore, both Elder Mei and Elder Zhou had personally recommended this young girl to him. Her medical skills were truly unparalleled in B City.

He even felt that in this current world, those who could apply traditional Chinese medicine so freely, this girl might be the only one.

He heard that her favorite cases were the completely baffling and complex ones.

Mu Lin clarified, it wasn’t that she liked complex cases, it’s just that she didn’t come down the mountain to treat people out of her own wish. It was all due to her master’s dying wish. If people with minor ailments came looking for her, she’d likely collapse from annoyance sooner or later.

Of course, there’s one more thing; how could she take patients away from those hardworking, regular doctors? She had to have some professional ethics, didn’t she?

This was a truly... an irrefutable argument.

So this was how professional ethics worked.

Hearing the elder’s words, Mu Lin merely smiled faintly without speaking.

Although she was a bit blunt with her words, at times, Mu Lin could occasionally be modest.

Approaching the elder, Mu Lin briefly glanced at the man half blocking him, a malicious smirk appearing at the corner of her mouth, "I know what you’re thinking." And then she bypassed him, she didn’t have to look at his facial expression to imagine it.

It seemed like she had made an enemy once again.

As she came before the elder, Mu Lin took a look at him, "Extend your hand," she asked calmly.

The elder didn’t ask for any explanations and simply complied.

Mu Lin took out the necessary items from her bag. She spread out the silver needles, disinfected them, and both Mei Qingyuan and Zhou Jiansheng gathered beside her to watch her work.

Observing, listening, questioning, and pulse diagnosis, the roots of Chinese medicine.

Just a moment ago, with just one glance, Mu Lin diagnosed the crux of the illness. She hadn’t yet measured the elder’s pulse nor asked any questions. They didn’t know what she was planning to do next.

Apply a needle?

They thought of the legendary nine curve spiral acupuncture technique, but sadly, it wasn’t that.

After the silver needles were disinfected, eventually, Mu Lin simmered the needle at a spot on the elder’s wrist.

"It might hurt a bit," she warned.

The elder dismissed her with a nonchalant, "It’s fine". He wasn’t unfamiliar with pain, he had weathered worse injuries in his younger days, so what was a tiny silver needle?

However, was it just a tiny silver needle?

Only as the delicate silver needle penetrated through his skin and into his blood vessel did the elder realize exactly how much the ’slight pain’ that Mu Lin had warned about actually hurt.

Unbelievably, a tiny needlehead hurt more than being shot.

His pain made his brows furrow slightly, but his gaze remained fixed on his hand and the girl’s serene yet focussed expression.

The elder felt that right now, Mu Lin truly resembled a doctor.

A doctor’s heart is filled with compassion; although he had heard rumors that this girl was quirky, very few insulted her behind her back. As he observed, in her eyes, there was no distinction between patients or between the rich and poor; to her, a patient was simply a patient.

He also heard that, as long as she was treating a mysterious and complicated case, the patient would be ultimately cured.

Such medical skills were indeed awe-inspiring.

Her fingertips moved slightly as she removed the needle a short while later. She placed the discolored silver needle before the elder, saying, "The silver needle has darkened, which indicates that a chronic poison has already intermixed with your blood. Your body has even started to adapt to this poison. Since it’s chronic, your physical problems will appear gradually."

With a dormancy period of ten years, it seems the person who administered the poison was quite cautious.

"Can it be cured?" Zhou JianSheng asked with worry.

Since Mu Lin had effortlessly spotted it, she should have a solution.

This elder could not come to any harm.

In fact, a day before Mu Lin’s arrival, Zhou JianSheng and Mei QingYuan had already examined the elder by both Western and Chinese medicine, yet they found absolutely no indicators of trouble.

Zhou JianSheng looked at Mu Lin, "Girl, why can the silver needle detect the poison, resulting in it darkening, but we detected nothing during our examinations?" This was something he couldn’t understand.

Mu Lin: "I applied a substance to the silver needle. If there are any abnormal toxins in the blood, even if it’s just a trace, it will react. As for why your blood tests didn’t detect anything, it could either be because they had blended so well that you couldn’t detect anything or maybe the poison had some sort of resistance to the reagents you used for testing."

"But those are just my speculations." She couldn’t be certain about things she had not seen before.

Western and Chinese medicine were different. Even though she had minimal interaction with Western medicine (out of sheer curiosity), she could still hardly be considered knowledgable about it, or rather, she didn’t find it particularly interesting.

Mu Lin casually looked at the elder in front of her, "When did you first notice you were feeling unwell?"

"About half a year ago," the elder replied, "Initially, I only felt a bit dizzy. Sometimes I would feel like my body was inexplicably twitching while I slept. But recently, I’ve been feeling more and more lethargic." He also began tiring easily to the point where he couldn’t continue his routine daily exercises.

"At first, I thought I was just tired due to recent exertion, but later on, I realized that I didn’t seem to be able to get enough sleep." He contacted his personal doctor who couldn’t figure out what was wrong. He then came here, but even after an exhaustive examination, they found nothing.

Just a moment ago, Zhou JianSheng received a phone call and came over to tell him that he could recommend someone for the job.

And that person was Mu Lin.
