Mated at First Sight -
Chapter 528 - 361
Chapter 528: 361
Yan Zilei glanced at Ya Yan, who was geared up for a battle. A slight touch of indulging smile appeared at the corner of his mouth; He enjoyed the feeling of being protected by her, or more accurately, he loved to watch her possessive expressions.
This proud look, in Yan Zilei’s eyes, is the most beautiful thing; it represents how much the girl cares about him.
Lai Ou laughed casually. She knew that Ya Yan would react, her charming eyes gently fixed on Ya Yan, "I was careless just now, missed recognizing Miss Yan, after all, Miss Yan earlier also said she didn’t recognize me, didn’t she?" Lai Ou didn’t expect Ya Yan to step in so quickly, she’d thought Ya Yan would still be holding herself back. It was quite a pity; she thought she might have had the opportunity to enjoy a good show later on.
Looks like she was going to be disappointed now.
Lai Ou deflected the interrogation, earning a bland glance from Yan Zilei in response.
It was the first time Yan Zilei looked at her properly since she entered the meeting room.
She didn’t know if this counted as a good development.
"Miss Lai, you can take it as if I too, was careless." Ya Yan said with a slight laugh, "But now that we all are careless, let’s just leave it at this. Let’s start talking about the real matter on hand." She leaned back slightly, this sub-conscious movement ironically turned out to match Yan Zilei’s movements.
Their actions were elegant and fully synchronized, but such harmonious coordination offended Lai Ou deeply.
She found that these two people standing in front of her gave her a different feeling than previous encounters; yet, she wasn’t able to pinpoint exactly what was different.
The confrontation continued.
"I think what you want to discuss today, should be about the renewal of some product collaborations under the Ya Family banner, right?" Ya Yan asked with her voice calm and unvarying.
"Yes." Lai Ou’s agent nodded, she only wanted to sign the contract as quickly as possible and get on with the proceedings. She shouldn’t be questioning what she was scheming on her mind.
"I heard that Miss Lai is very popular, and she personally requested my brother to sign the renewal contract with her. Is that so?" Ya Yan raised her eyebrow and asked. Her gaze was calm and the curve of her mouth was simple and plain.
"This..." The agent struggled to answer; to deny it would mean denying the person in question; to admit would feel inappropriate; it was indeed a tough question to answer.
Yet,
"You’re right." Lai Ou surprisingly admitted it outright, her enchanting eyes gently slid across Yan Zilei’s face, before finally landing on Ya Yan, "Is there any problem with that?" She didn’t seem to believe there was.
"There isn’t any problem." Ya Yan looked at her, face bearing a simple, genuine smile. However, when she finally spoke, her words weren’t as pleasant, at least to Lai Ou ears, they were dripping with sarcasm. "I’m just wondering, do you even qualify for this?" Ya Yan looked at Lai Ou, the smile on her face slowly fading, bearing a hint of coldness.
Her brother had already told her previously that it was not him who agreed, but... Bai Heng.
As for Bai Heng, who was originally perceived as a warm big brother by Ya Yan, he instantly became a traitor in her eyes, the worst kind; he was actually planning to sell out her brother, discreditable!
Bai Heng argued that this was the price Yan Zilei had to pay for exploiting him. From the beginning, he did not believe Yan Zilei would actually show up. An excuse would suffice to gloss over the situation as their brand spokesperson can be replaced by anyone, not necessarily Lai Ou; he just didn’t anticipate that things would turn out this way.
Now it looked quite interesting, so as the indispensable secretary of Yan Zilei — Bai Heng consider himself, he had the honor to attend a negotiation for an issue he deemed trivial, and... dutifully taking notes.
"Miss Yan, what do you mean by that?" As soon as Lai Ou heard Ya Yan’s words, her facial expression suddenly turned cold, "Regardless, I am the artist your company has invited to sign the contract." Even if she is the Ya family’s young lady, she has no right to talk to her in such manner here.
Does she really not have the right? From the moment Ya Yan sat down, she had the right to speak because she is part of the Yan family.
"You said it yourself, you are an artist." Ya Yan looked at her and said lightheartedly, her casual words felt astonishingly dismissive, "Since you know you’re an artist, please behave like one."
In fact, Ya Yan was too lazy to quarrel with her, "In our great country China, or even in foreign countries, there are plenty of stars far more popular than you, and I believe they won’t mind endorsing Ya Family products." They would be more than willing, even desperate.
"Isn’t that right, Secretary Bai?" Suddenly, the question rolled over to Bai Heng. He was slightly startled, laughed it off, and responded, "Miss Yan is absolutely correct." He was now unsure about how to address Ya Yan since they were in an external meeting.
"In fact, these past few days, many people have learned from somewhere that our contract with Miss Lai has expired. Quite a few people approached us offering themselves to replace her. I am currently filtering through to see who would be the most suitable choice. Furthermore, among the candidates, there is also our tri-talented international superstar, Miss Ye Zuo." He took a pause for dramatic effect, then continued.
He personally thought that Miss Ye Zuo was very good; whether it’s her looks or fame, temperament, or anything, she far surpassed the goddess Lai Ou that seated before them.
"So, Miss Lai Ou, I hope you don’t really think that Ya Family must have you only."
