Mated at First Sight
Chapter 516 - 353

Chapter 516: 353

"If you can’t verify it, why don’t you make a phone call to confirm it? After all, then you’ll know for sure whether this thing is real or fake." Mu Lin said, finding it increasingly mind-boggling to deal with these fools.

They seemed to agree with Mu Lin’s suggestion and shouted an order accordingly.

Time passed, and after about twenty minutes, Mu Lin was getting impatient. She wondered what was taking these people so long just to verify a small piece of information.

Things weren’t as convenient here as she was used to.

Moreover, these people were incredibly inflexible, wasting so much time with their meticulous checks.

They had stopped pointing their guns at Mu Lin’s head by now, though they still held them at the ready, a clear sign of distrust.

Their instincts told them that the woman standing before them was not as simple as she seemed, but they couldn’t pinpoint what was off about her.

It was probably their sixth sense of impending danger. After all, the woman in front of them had killed nearly two hundred of their men with ease.

"May I ask how much longer it will take?" Mu Lin’s face displayed clear urgency.

"Wait." The soldier responded with a cold glance.

Concealing her annoyance, Mu Lin hurried them along, "I’m not sure how much longer you need for verification, but could you possibly let me step in to take care of something?"

She had phrased the request very delicately.

The soldier was puzzled, "What do you mean by ’take care of something’?"

Mu Lin: "...I mean use the bathroom." She hoped they would understand this basic phrase. Her grasp of the language in Y Country was significantly better than theirs.

"No," the soldier refused without hesitation.

"You can keep an eye on me the entire time. I’m just a woman incapable of causing harm. You’re not afraid of me, are you? I don’t bite." Mu Lin proposed, inciting the soldier’s pride with her provocation.

Men, especially soldiers, were inherently proud. They hated it when someone accused them of being afraid.

This border guard did not know what it felt like to be afraid. After some thought, he decided that there should be no problem if he accompanied her.

Eventually, he nodded in agreement.

Mu Lin walked ahead, the muzzle of the soldier’s gun pointing at the back of her head once again, only very close this time.

Mu Lin felt irked about this arrangement.

She casually swept her gaze around, noticing that they hadn’t encountered any other guards during this journey. It confirmed Jing Chen’s speculation that there were not many guards present. However, she decided to observe a little longer just in case.

The walk to the restroom was long, Mu Lin thought the soldiers were quite crafty for designing such a layout.

It took them five minutes to reach the rest room from the border entrance, mainly because they were moving at a snail’s pace.

This, as far as Mu Lin was concerned, was a good thing.

In those five minutes, she had a chance to gather valuable observations.

As they stood before the restroom, it was apparent that it was not designated for a specific gender, probably because there were no women around.

"You’re not thinking of coming in with me, are you?" Mu Lin entered the room and stopped abruptly at the sight of the soldier’s approaching foot. She turned around, her face a picture of disbelief. "What are you thinking?" she demanded, her hands instinctively moving to cover her chest.

"I must watch you," The soldier replied rigidly. Mu Lin’s expression cycled through several shades of incredulity at his answer. After a scornful glance at his rifle, she stomped off into the restroom.

The soldier followed without hesitation.

As soon as he was out of sight, Mu Lin’s expression of indignation evaporated. Her lips formed a cold, hard line.

He followed her in, which suited her just fine.

She had never come across anyone so eager to walk into their own death.

"My thanks to you," Mu Lin’s words, echoing in a chilling whisper, caused the soldier to jolt in surprise.

As he turned, Mu Lin watched him, a faint smile playing on her lips. Before the soldier could react, a flash of silver crossed his vision. The next moment, he collapsed, his loaded rifle still in the soldier’s hand. He didn’t even have a chance to fire.

She was far too powerful.

Giving the body a passing glance, Mu Lin scoffed and quickly turned on her heel to leave.

The soldier’s eyes remained open wide in disbelief. He probably never anticipated dying at the hands of a woman, let alone this woman.

His intuition had been right – she was a dangerous woman. Unfortunately, by the time he realised it, his life had been forfeited.

Moving with grace and precision, Mu Lin navigated swiftly through the enemy camp; unfortunately, no other enemies appeared.

Suddenly, Mu Lin stopped walking. She turned and opened a slightly ajar door.

The corners of her mouth lifted into a smile.

As the proverb goes, ’After much searching, success comes when least expected.’ She hadn’t expected to find it this easily.
