Chapter 507: Chapter 349: Being Favored (Second Update) _1

The gentle breeze still brushed lightly, strands of hair caressed Mu Lin’s cheeks, his icy eyes fixed on Jing Chen. Their eyes met, and the corners of his mouth lifted into an unusually... sinister smile.

"Qiaozi!" Mu Lin’s voice rang in Qiaozi’s ears. With that, Qiaozi sprang to full attention. "Go on," Mu Lin commanded once more.

No sooner had he finished speaking than a small black porcelain bottle flew from Mu Lin’s hand, vanishing soundlessly among the leaves amidst the mayhem. It landed precisely at Qiaozi’s feet.

"Qiaozi, just do the usual," Youyou’s voice once again entered Qiaozi’s ears. Everybody listened in confusion, but Qiaozi understood perfectly.

This was their tacit understanding; in Qiaozi’s mind, the bond between Mu Lin and him was stronger than anything even Jing Chen could comprehend.

In fact, Qiaozi was in a pretty good position, perched atop a large tree in the very center of the battlefield, hidden perfectly. If it hadn’t been for Mu Lin spotting him earlier when he took cover, they wouldn’t have been able to locate him in such a timely manner.

Qiaozi clung to the tree trunk with one claw, while the other gripped the small black bottle. He bent his head down and gripped the lid with his beak, intending to open the bottle; it was a bit tricky, Qiaozi admitted, since the lids were so slippery and he despised opening them.

He was different from humans. He only had two claws and a beak, and he didn’t have teeth like they did, which was why he had to struggle so much to open the bottle. He made a mental note to ask Little Mu Lin for a different design next time.

In fact, Qiaozi had grown accustomed to these tasks because he would often be tasked with them by Mu Lin back in the Black Forest, especially during those assassination missions. Uncle Qiaozi held credit for many successes.

Of course, it wasn’t limited to this, but those examples were better left unsaid. After all, Little Mu Lin in their household was really a lazy person. Most of the time, he preferred to use poison, and didn’t like to carry out the tasks personally.

Presumably, only when Mu Lin was researching would he shed his usual indolence.

Ah... Regarding Little Mu Lin’s willfulness, Uncle Qiaozi could only express his resignation. But they still had to indulge him, didn’t they?

If Mu Lin knew about his thoughts, he wondered if he would get a beating. Hm, he probably couldn’t be bothered to do so.

The bottle cap was easily pulled off, allowing him to show a bit of his physical form, or rather should say his claw. He made sure that he didn’t spill any of the contents on the tree, or the consequences would be dire for him.

Completely unacceptable.

Bit by bit, with the help of the slight breeze, just neither too big nor too small, at least in Mu Lin’s eyes, it was just perfect.

The gentle breeze, accompanied by fine, white granules, slowly floated towards the enemy camp, unbeknownst to them.

Nobody could have suspected that the opposition would use poison, and in such a way no less.

Stationed a distance away from the battlefield, holding a pair of binoculars, and observing every detail of the situation, upon seeing his own men falling one after another, a deep crease formed at the corners of Li Wenshuai’s mouth.

After so long, his losses were substantial, yet from the enemy’s side, he had not witnessed a single man fall.

The disparity was vast.

However.

With a cold smile, Li Wenshuai sneered. He refused to believe that after bringing nearly twice as many men as the last time, he couldn’t defeat these few dozen opponents.

What did it matter if they were Special Forces? He wanted to prove that even though his soldiers could not join the Special Forces, they could still defeat the renowned Special Forces.

Unfortunately for Li Wenshuai, he never considered, or rather thought it unnecessary, that in his eyes, even if the victory was built on the corpses of his soldiers, victory was victory. As long as they won, nothing else mattered.

Sadly for him this time, his fate was already sealed.

Thud, thud, thud... One after another, suddenly the men who were still fighting began to collapse. Some of them even fell completely, never to rise again.

One by one, almost half of his men had fallen all of a sudden.

"What’s happening?" Witnessing this unexpected turn of events, the once self-assured Li Wenshuai felt uncomfortable. He looked through his binoculars in disbelief, looking again and again, thinking that his eyes might be playing tricks on him. Unfortunately, the more he watched, the more he could see his men falling one after another.
