Chapter 501: Chapter 345: Watermelon Guinea Pig (first update)_1
"Still no sign of her." Ya Yan was on the verge of tears.
Yan Zilei wrapped his arm around her shoulder, trying to comfort her in a soft voice, "Maybe Mu Lin went out and nobody in the hotel saw her. Remember, she isn’t like ordinary people," Yan Zilei suggested, trying to reason with her.
Recent events indeed pointed to this conclusion.
Well, he wasn’t wrong.
Ya Yan might agree with him, but Mu Lin was still a girl. What if someone with ill-intentions tricked her?
Ya Yan wouldn’t forget how Mu Lin got tricked before due to her own circumstances. If it weren’t for her defensive skills, things might have turned out much worse. Now Ya Yan wondered if Mu Lin had met trouble again.
Holding Ya Yan, Yan Zilei led her down the stairs, his other hand clutching hers tightly as they ventured towards the exit; his deep gaze thoughtful.
A hotel staffer standing behind them watched their retreating figures, thinking to themselves. To him, their relationship didn’t resemble that of siblings, but resembled more of a deeply in love couple. Despite having heard about Yan Zilei’s doting on his sister, being concerned about even the slightest of misfortunes, the scene was even more touching than the rumors suggested.
However, the affection between Miss Yan and Doctor Mu seemed indeed strong. It’s one thing that she would often show up, but to come rushing over so early...
Still, the staffer couldn’t comprehend. Where on earth had Doctor Mu gone? Her sudden disappearance was too unusual.
Had something really happened?
Ah! Right!
The next moment, the staff member appeared to have suddenly had an idea, "Miss Yan, you can request to check the surveillance footage. You might find something."
Upon hearing this, Ya Yan seemed to come to a sudden realization.
Yes, how could she forget about the surveillance? This was a hotel; there would definitely be security footage everywhere.
Looking at the surveillance camera not far from the front door, Ya Yan changed from weeping to laughter. Yan Zilei found her change of mood a little baffling.
First floor, back area, Security Monitoring Room.
"I understand." The head of security, nodded at the staff member, then turned to Yan Zilei, "Mr. Yan, you want to view the footage after five o’clock yesterday, correct?" There really didn’t seem to be any problem with that.
While normally they wouldn’t allow such a thing, their colleague had explained the importance of the matter. So, there probably wasn’t a single person in their hotel who didn’t know Doctor Mu by now.
Yan Zilei nodded. "Thank you." He almost forgot about this ubiquitous feature of the 21st century in his fret over Ya Yan’s concerns.
The head of security responded with a nod and ordered the others to pull up the surveillance footage from outside Mu Lin’s room.
In the footage from around five fifteen, Mu Lin was on her way back to the hotel, accompanied by a handsome young man who seemed to be tailing her very closely, his eyes fixed on her. Seeing this, Yan Zilei thought the young man seemed admirably fascinated by Mu Lin.
It appeared that she had a new admirer. The potential threat to Jing’s affections hadn’t gone unnoticed, he thought, smirking.
Yan Zilei found himself oddly pleased at the sight.
They entered the room together, but within five minutes, the young man came out holding a thick stack of books. He closed the door behind him, his face filled with excitement. He kept looking at the books, his mouth agape with joy. Even through the video footage, Yan Zilei could perceive his elation.
The moment he held those medical books, Yang Fan felt like he was floating on air. He could barely walk.
The slightly old-looking books, complete with handwritten notes, seemed like rare treasures. He was surprised that Mu Lin had handed them over to him without hesitation.
As far as Yang Fan was concerned, being allowed to study at the Poison Doctor’s pavilion was the best thing that ever happened to him. He wished he could continue his studies here all his life, even into old age.
He’d never leave unless forced. Even then, he’d still fight tooth and nail to stay.
And then, her room door was shut and stayed closed until early morning, just before one o’clock, when the door finally reopened.
The footsteps seemed a bit hurried.
"Can you zoom in on that?" Yan Zilei instinctively commanded.
