Chapter 479: Chapter 333: Mu Lin is a Good Medicine (1)_1

"But aren’t you friends with him?" Wang Guozhen smiled, undeterred by Mu Lin’s assertion.

Mu Lin grinned, "Who told you that I was friends with her?" She was certain she never said such a thing.

"Aren’t you?" Hearing Mu Lin’s words, Wang Guozhen was taken aback. "But wait!" He knit his brows, unsure of what to say.

He found the young girl before him to be unfathomable. Despite her youth, she seemed to have experienced everything, understanding all aspects of life thoroughly.

Mu Lin watched his troubled expression and chuckled, "It seems that you really...admire the Poison Doctor." Using the word ’admire’ for the elder Chinese Medicine practitioner before her felt somewhat strange.

This man was one generation above her Master.

Mu Lin had never considered that she would be respected by such an elder. After all, her reputation, while renowned, was not a positive one. It never crossed her mind that an experienced Chinese Medicine practitioner like him would hold her in high esteem.

This feeling left Mu Lin bemused.

Mu Lin’s words made Wang Guozhen slightly embarrassed, though he did not deny it, "While I have never met the Poison Doctor, nor do I know what kind of person he is, I believe that he absolutely couldn’t be like what the rumors suggest." A blood-thirsty man, unconcerned with human life.

"Doctors should have benevolence." Wang Guozhen reiterated, "Don’t trust rumors completely; I believe that the Poison Doctor’s capricious temperament is hard to grasp, after all, truly capable and powerful individuals always have their quirks and tempers." These eccentricities should not matter.

"I get it." Mu Lin nodded at Wang Guozhen, her smile serene. "You will have the opportunity to meet her." Her identity was no longer secret, and considering the recent happenings, Mu Lin believed that it wouldn’t be long before word got out and reached them soon enough.

Perhaps.

"Thank you." Wang Guozhen looked at Mu Lin and thanked her sincerely. He believed that Mu Lin had implicitly agreed to his request.

Mu Lin just smiled faintly without saying much.

However, at that moment, a panicked voice reached their ears. Shortly after, Yang Zhou rushed in, breathless from urgency.

"Doctor Wang, there’s been...an accident." He paused to catch his breath, "We’ve just brought in a patient who’s been stabbed several times." He was barely clinging to life. After delivering the news, he sprinted towards the room next door. Zhao Wen, hearing the commotion, had also emerged.

Mu Lin and Wang Guozhen stepped outside, and saw Zhao Wen. "I have a patient here, you two go check out what’s happening. I’ll come once I’m done." Since both Wang Guozhen and Mu Lin were there, Zhao Wen thought of leaving it to them.

"Alright." Wang Guozhen nodded, and the trio headed downstairs at a brisk pace.

The otherwise clean ground floor was smeared with blood. A man was brought in, supported on either side, and as per the direction of the blood trail, he was led into the nearby Operation Room.

Naturally, the major difference between a Chinese Medicine and a Western Medicine operation room was its cleanliness. Other than a small white bed, there were only a handful of small items used in Chinese Medicine. The room looked downright plain compared to a Western Medicine operation room.

Guided by the trail of blood, they entered the operation room. On seeing the grisly scene inside, Wang Guozhen recoiled in shock.

There were so many stab wounds. Considering the man was still breathing, he was remarkably resilient. And there was even a fruit knife sticking out of his abdomen.

What kind of hatred could have led to such a vicious attack? He could barely imagine the pain.

While thinking this, Wang Guozhen walked further into the room.

"Doctor, I beg you, save him, save my husband." The woman in the room, upon seeing Wang Guozhen, rushed forward. Her face was wet with tears, her makeup smudged and blurred.

Looking at her attire, her family seemed to be well-off.

Caught off guard, Wang Guozhen received a fright. He had hardly noticed the woman. Instinctively looking at her, he reassured her, "Rest assured, I will do my best." Whilst speaking, he tried to free his hand from her desperate grip in order to tend to the patient. Now would be the ideal time for her to let go of his hand, wouldn’t it?
