Chapter 411: Chapter 291: Madam’s Hard Work (Second Update)_1
Mu Lin and Jing Chen glanced at each other, the curve of their smiles strikingly similar. "It seems that some people can’t wait any longer."
"I guess it’s because you struck a bit too hard earlier," Jing Chen quipped. Despite the threat to their lives lurking in the shadows, the two of them appeared completely relaxed.
"It was your doing, wasn’t it?" Mu Lin feigned innocence. After all, it was not her who had leveled the enemy base; she wouldn’t wear that hat, Jing Chen.
Jing Chen laughed warmly, reaching out to gently touch Mu Lin’s head. "Alright then, whatever my wife says is correct." As the saying goes, one should always listen to their wife.
It seemed that Mister Jing had thoroughly learnt his lessons about male subordination to their wives.
"Good boy." Standing on tiptoes, Mu Lin planted a kiss on his chin, and Jing Chen smiled with satisfaction.
Perhaps irritated by their nonchalance, the next moment, it was no longer a single bullet, but countless bullets raining down from multiple directions, effectively trapping them in a deadly crossfire.
Really, was there no way out?
Smirking slightly, the two of them mysteriously produced a pistol each and with a few quick "bangs," the bullets exploded in mid-air. Thankfully, this street was mostly deserted at night otherwise there would have been a panic.
Surprisingly, it was Mu Lin and Jing Chen’s first time walking down this road today, and yet these people managed to ambush them. Regrettably, these people were not up to the task of killing her.
Mu Lin’s life was still needed for her revenge against her Master.
Mu Lin emptied a few bullets from her bag without hesitation and replaced the originals in her gun. She then turned her sights back onto her enemies with a leisurely smile gracing her lips.
Watching Mu Lin, the sniper hiding two hundred meters away suddenly chuckled. He had initially been surprised by their shooting skills, but it seemed they were being a tad arrogant—did they think they could take them out just with that?
Truly hilarious.
The people recognized the pistol in Mu Lin’s hand—it was merely a military machine pistol with an effective range of one hundred and fifty meters. Beyond that, the bullet trajectory would deviate. It was laughable that she thought she could assassinate them with such a shoddy pistol. As for her shooting skills—were they really that great? They didn’t believe it.
Their sneers held a trace of sarcasm. So, this was the legendary Poison Doctor? Meeting her in person was rather underwhelming. It seemed they had indeed overestimated her.
Their predecessors hadn’t been so audacious, it seemed.
Mu Lin didn’t care whether they laughed or sneered at her. Her newest invention could come in handy today, perhaps she should thank them.
Perhaps they wanted to test Mu Lin’s shooting skills, the group froze, waiting to see how she could possibly hit them from that distance.
The next moment.
"Bang!" went the bullet, tearing through the chilly night air. But it exploded abruptly just after it reached one hundred and fifty meters, close to the ambush. The adversaries were taken aback and broke out laughing.
Such a pity, she had missed by just a few meters. Her marksmanship needed improvement. If she wasn’t the so-called Poison Doctor, maybe they could’ve taken her under their wing and trained her properly. Perhaps then, she could’ve made the shot.
Regrettably, the instant after he had finished laughing, his expression twisted horrifically as he collapsed defenselessly to the ground, motionless.
"The wind control wasn’t bad." Jing Chen complimented, looking at Mu Lin who smiled elegantly, "What do you think of my new invention?" At least she was pretty satisfied with her handiwork. While speaking, she boldly aimed her gun in different directions and fired off three rounds. The bullets whistled through the air, exploding before reaching their targets, just like before.
Watching the exploding sparks in the sky, Jing Chen turned to Mu Lin, "Aren’t you afraid of innocent civilians stepping into it?" After all, the wind direction could change at any time.
Mu Lin laughed, "My observation is not that bad." Moreover, "I have the antidote, so these people aren’t dead yet, but if they don’t take it within twenty minutes, I’m afraid they’ll kick the bucket." Mu Lin always had a contingency plan for the poison she used, but the timing wasn’t the same every time.
