Chapter 380: Chapter 273 - Acting Childish Once (Second Update)_1
"Black Scorpion." As Black Scorpion’s vow fell, the sound that reached his ears was, in his eyes, the most beautiful voice in the world. Subconsciously folding away the pill, he turned around and looked at Yang Hao. The light in his eyes had softened.
Looking at the pair locked in a gaze, Mu Lin clicked his tongue. The expression on this poker-faced person was rather off-putting.
Unlike Jing Chen’s cold exterior, Black Scorpion’s face had a stony quality, not well-suited to smiling. But such a man was popular with women, as the aura he emitted reeked of security.
Of course, this only applied if you made your way into his heart.
"Yang Hao." Holding Yang Hao’s hand, Black Scorpion turned to Mu Lin. "Mu Lin saved you." There was no need to hide this fact; Black Scorpion did not mention the Poison Doctor because in Yang Hao’s eyes, Mu Lin was just Mu Lin. Besides, the reputation of the Poison Doctor was not something a regular person could even fathom.
"Mu Lin?" Upon hearing this name, Yang Hao looked sideways, and a flicker of delight passed across her eyes when she saw Mu Lin. "Mu Lin." She tried to struggle to her feet, but Black Scorpion quickly lent her support, preventing her from potentially falling.
Mu Lin looked at Yang Hao, the corners of his mouth curving upwards. At this moment, his aura had returned to its usual calm and gentle state, just as Yang Hao imagined him to be.
Given this, Black Scorpion admitted that it would be hard to associate her with the words ’Poison Doctor’. Instead, she seemed more like... a student, not unlike Yang Hao.
Her mind spinning, Yang Hao resurfaced the events of yesterday. A trace of fear marked her heart. Earlier, Black Scorpion had said that Mu Lin had saved her. Yang Hao fully trusted him on that, and turning to Mu Lin, she said, "Mu Lin, I’m sorry. It seems I’ve caused trouble for you again."
It seemed that ever since they first met, she had only caused Mu Lin trouble.
"No." Mu Lin gave a slight smile. "Perhaps I should thank you." At least for today, she had gathered some useful information.
Yang Hao was puzzled and looked at Mu Lin questioningly, but Mu Lin just shook her head and said, "It’s nothing". She didn’t need to know everything. Looking at them both, Mu Lin continued, "Since you’re fine now, I’ll take my leave first. You have my number, right?"
Yang Hao nodded without thinking. "Yes, I saved it last time." She had never dared to call, though, due to the considerable gulf between them. It seemed Mu Lin knew this all along.
"Call me if there’s anything." Mu Lin said with a smile, and Yang Hao nodded enthusiastically. Whether or not she’d really make that call, well, that was uncertain.
Her gaze briefly swept over Black Scorpion. He would understand her meaning, she thought.
"Rest well, I’ll leave you to it." She nodded at Yang Hao, took Jing Chen’s arm and turned to leave. It had almost become a habit for Mu Lin.
Watching Mu Lin’s retreating figure, Yang Hao’s face showed a trace of disappointment. "It’s hard enough to see her." They had barely exchanged a few words before she was gone again. Every encounter seemed so hasty.
"Don’t worry. You’ll have plenty of chances to meet her in the future." Black Scorpion comforted, stroking her head. "Mu Lin considers you a friend." He had this feeling, at least. After all, Mu Lin had threatened him because of Yang Hao, which suggested that Mu Lin did not dislike Yang Hao.
"Are you serious?" Yang Hao was uncertain. She had only met with Mu Lin twice, and both times have been interrupted by other events. Including today, she had only met her thrice.
Of course, sightings on TV news didn’t count.
Even though Mu Lin had been wearing a mask and had hidden her aura, Yang Hao had instantly recognized her, for some reason.
"I am." Black Scorpion assured her, "She came today to save you specifically." By some strange turn of events.
"Okay." Yang Hao nodded, a radiant smile slowly appearing on her face. Black Scorpion pulled her into his embrace. For a moment, he thought he might never again see this pure smile. The culprit of it all, Red Scorpion, should be prepared for his wrath.
Feeling his arms tighten around her, Yang Hao didn’t say anything.
She had always known that Black Scorpion was different from her. But she didn’t want to question it. Everyone had their secrets. As long as he stayed by her side, that was enough. What happened yesterday, and that lady who kidnapped her and fed her something unknown, made Yang Hao realize how different she and Black Scorpion truly were. After all, she was just an ordinary college student.
