Chapter 378: Chapter 272: News vs Warning (One More) _1

"I have some questions for you."

"Please ask." There is nothing he can’t say now.

"Are there any ancient books in your organization related to poison, recording various poisonous grass and the production of some ancient poisons?" That is what Mu Lin wanted to ascertain.

"How did you know!" Black Scorpion was somewhat surprised but continued without concealing. "In fact, everything that Red Scorpion has learned comes from those ancient books; however..."

"However?" Mu Lin raised his eyebrows, "However what?" Why was he hesitating, was he just trying to keep her in suspense?

"However, I’ve heard them say that this ancient book is actually not complete. There should’ve been several volumes, but the organization only has one." Therefore, they couldn’t possibly learn everything. Even so, it’s already remarkable. But the content of that ancient book is too complex - many of the herbs listed inside can’t be found at all. Some had never even been heard of, so... of course, no one could learn everything. There are only about a dozen types of poison that can be concocted from the book.

"As I thought." After listening to Black Scorpion’s words, a chilling smile emerged on Mu Lin’s usually cold face at that moment.

"Is there something wrong with that ancient book?" Black Scorpion was confused. Or was it that Mu Lin knew where that book came from. With this assumption... Black Scorpion was suddenly shocked.

Could it be!

With her head slightly bowed, Mu Lin didn’t speak, but the two people around her could clearly feel the chill and... murderous intent radiating from her.

Mu Lin didn’t know where the ancient book ended up. She had read it all, even memorizing the majority of it, but now she suspected that one of the volumes might have been taken down the mountain by her master. She didn’t know why her master, who never showed any interest in the book, would take it down the mountain. What was he planning to do with it?

Did he intend to show it to someone, or something else? Mu Lin had no clue.

But the only thing she was certain of now was that Mu Jue’s death was inextricably linked to this organization.

Mu Lin looked up at Black Scorpion, her eyes devoid of emotion, "Black Scorpion, do you know where the ancient book you mentioned was found?" This was vital.

Unfortunately, Black Scorpion just shook his head, "I don’t know." After a pause, he seemed to recall something and looked at Mu Lin, "Although I don’t know, this ancient book appeared suddenly two years ago. Our poison training within the organization began at that time. There’s a rumor within the organization that someone personally delivered the book to our leader. However, there is no way to verify this." It was as unsubstantiated as folklore.

This training had caused innumerable deaths. It was even more challenging than their usual assassination training. In the beginning, if somebody lacked aptitude, they would end up as a test subject for the poisons. It was extremely cruel. "Red Scorpion is one of the more talented people in our organization, but he barely makes the top ten." If it wasn’t for this mission, Red Scorpion wouldn’t have been able to join their team.

This meant that there were many more adept poisoners above Red Scorpion. And for Mu Lin, Black Scorpion thought, after this incident, she would certainly become a target of the organization. He deduced this from the organization’s decision to call off the assassination of Mo Yinfan.

Black Scorpion might not realize that this was something Red Scorpion had personally asked for. His real target was him and the mission was secondary. Ironically, she didn’t know that she would end up in a disastrous defeat because of this mission.

"Mu Lin, you’ll definitely be the organization’s target, you need to..." He looked at Mu Lin and was about to warn her to be cautious, but the words stuck in his throat.

Since Mu Lin saved Yang Hao, she was also Black Scorpion’s savior. Even though there was a transaction between them, even if Mu Lin hadn’t spoken up, Black Scorpion was determined to get Red Scorpion’s life back. Only then, he could ensure Yang Hao’s safety.

He never wanted yesterday’s situation to reoccur. As long as Red Scorpion was alive, he and Yang Hao would never be safe. This was Black Scorpion’s intuition, born from his understanding of Red Scorpion’s malicious nature.
