Chapter 376: Chapter 271 - Mu Lin’s Patience (Third Update)_1

The next morning, Mu Lin and Jing Chen met Black Scorpion at the agreed location, where he had already been waiting for them.

As they approached, even the Black Scorpion found himself marveling at their companionship. Together, these two might have been the most ideal match in the world. In the sunlight, they seemed like celestial beings covered in gold.

Black Scorpion even entertained the thought that Poison Doctor might have left his secluded life to follow Jing Chen.

If Jing Chen knew about this speculation, he would have been overjoyed. As for Mu Lin, he would probably just cast him a fleeting glance and dismiss him with four words: you’re overthinking it.

Upon entering the home that Black Scorpion had described, Mu Lin raised his eyebrows slightly.

He was somewhat shocked that a renowned assassin would maintain such a warm and cozy nest. He guessed it must be the work of the girl Black Scorpion had mentioned.

This man yearned for an ordinary life, but tragically, he was no ordinary person. Sometimes fate plays strange games, and there’s nothing one can do but accept it.

"Over here," Black Scorpion led Mu Lin into his bedroom. Going over to the edge of the bed, he crouched down, "Hang in there, Yang Hao. You’ll wake up soon." His tender words made Mu Lin and Jing Chen look at him sideways.

Who could have guessed that such an ostensibly cold-hearted man could utter such gentle words?

After he finished speaking, Black Scorpion stood back, revealing the face of the young girl, Yang Hao, who had been lying unnoticed on the bed.

"Yang Hao." Mu Lin’s brows furrowed when he recognized the young girl – her. Mu Lin was not one to remember every face he saw, but he did remember hers.

Mu Lin felt that he shared a somewhat peculiar bond with this young girl.

The first time they met, she spoke up to help him without fear of getting into trouble. The second time, she insisted he buy a cost-effective car to save money. The third time... and she couldn’t open her eyes.

If this wasn’t fate, what was it?

"You know Yang Hao?" Black Scorpion looked surprised when Mu Lin mentioned her name.

Mu Lin nodded, not denying anything, "To speak of it, we’ve met on two occasions. She’s a girl one couldn’t help but like."

"Ah, it’s her." Jing Chen had some recollection of the young girl, of course, it was because of Mu Lin.

Upon hearing Jing Chen’s words, Black Scorpion felt even more surprised. How did they both happen to know Yang Hao? He shrugged it off, deciding that wasn’t the most important issue right now. He looked at Mu Lin. "Yang Hao was poisoned by Red Scorpion. She claims my life in two days if I don’t..."

"If you don’t hand over the antidote, right?" Mu Lin cut in with a wry smile.

"Yes," Black Scorpion nodded.

"Huh..." Upon hearing Black Scorpion’s words, Mu Lin let out a soft laugh, "What if I told you that if you wait two more days to get the antidote from her, Yang Hao’s face would probably be ruined? Would you believe me?"

Even if her life was saved and Black Scorpion didn’t mind, Yang Hao, as a girl, would probably not want to live with a ruined face.

Tsk tsk tsk... The venomous Red Scorpion must have a thing for Black Scorpion!

Mu Lin had half a mind to believe it.

In fact, Red Scorpion did have a soft spot for Black Scorpion, but mostly she was longing for the unattainable. To someone as conceited as her, what was out of reach was always desired the most. Hence Yang Hao, who was close to Black Scorpion, was always going to be the person she hated the most. Not to mention, the one she was insanely jealous of.

However, Mu Lin guessed that she would never admit to it. Moreover, she wasn’t going to let them die easily. She would definitely torment them, make their lives unbearable, make them doubtful, hateful, and so on.

Women’s jealousy can be horrifying. Even more so in her case, that venomous Red Scorpion was a sadist.

Upon hearing Mu Lin’s words, Black Scorpion responded without hesitation, "I believe you." Mu Lin had no reason to deceive him.

Mu Lin was quite pleased with Black Scorpion’s unquestionable trust in him. Looking at Yang Hao who was lying on the bed, he continued, "I wonder if you’ve noticed the dark pigment under Yang Hao’s eyes?"

Black Scorpion nodded, "I saw it this morning." He thought it was just dark circles, which are common among many people.

Not responding directly to Black Scorpion, Mu Lin continued gravely, "As the poisoning intensifies, this pigment will gradually appear on Yang Hao’s face, bit by bit. Its color will deepen over time. He looked up at Black Scorpion, "After today, and an evening later, this dark pigment will spread all over her body. By then, even if she ingested the antidote, it won’t be of any use." At best, death would simply be put on hold.
