Chapter 329: Chapter 242: Night Assassination (One update)_1

Night, still and silent. Apart from a few creatures that are active during the dark hours, almost everything had plunged into deep sleep.

Suddenly, the low cry of an eagle pierced the silence, a pair of icy and stunning eyes snapped open in an instant.

The knowing smile at the corner of her mouth dispersed at that moment. She had thought these people would patiently wait for Mo Yinfan to die from his illness over these few days. It seemed like there were differences among them after all.

Rising quickly, Mo Qian was already engaged in combat with the opponent’s assassin in the living room. There was a palpable air of murderous intent between them. Mo Qian was showing no mercy. Observing this, Mu Lin raised an eyebrow. The woman did have excellent skills.

Ignoring the scene, Mu Lin pushed open the door to Mo Yinfan’s room. Mo Yinfan, already awake, was sitting on the edge of the bed. He showed no visible signs of surprise when he saw Mu Lin. It was as if he had become accustomed to assassination attempts; one could also say he had made peace with the prospect of death.

Mo Yinfan sighed in resignation, turned toward Mu Lin and said, "I really don’t understand why they do everything they can to put me in danger."

"Maybe you’re getting in the way of their wealth," Mu Lin replied nonchalantly.

Mo Yinfan chuckles, "Maybe you’re right." Lately, he implemented numerous changes that a lot of people weren’t pleased with. He had probably offended a fair number of them.

Just as Mo Yinfan was about to say something else, he noticed Mu Lin’s ordinarily calm eyes turn cold in an instant. Before he could react, her small frame lunged toward him, pushing him onto the bed.

Being pinned down by a woman for the first time, especially on a bed, Mo Yinfan felt somewhat awkward. Before he could say anything, there was a loud bang. A bullet pierced the glass and lodged itself in the wall. The bullet had hit right where he was sitting a moment ago.

"There’s a sniper outside." It was clear that the enemy had put more than one assassination plan into action. "Qiaozi!" Mu Lin called out sharply. Understanding her intentions, Qiaozi immediately darted up the distant high-rise building.

The sniper was still waiting for the perfect moment to strike. The realisation that someone had managed to dodge his shot left him filled with rage. However, before he could recover from the shock, he noticed a fearsome eagle lunging at him. With a nimble roll, he narrowly avoided Qiaozi’s attack.

However, the speed of Qiaozi was too swift. Despite dodging the attack, the sniper was left scratched and wounded all over from Qiaozi’s sharp talons in just a short while.

Enraged, the sniper fired two shots at Qiaozi in quick succession while dodging the attacks, but to his surprise and dismay, Qiaozi was able to evade them all. The sniper couldn’t believe that even a bird could now effortlessly dodge his attacks.

You might not know, but Qiaozi had undergone Mu Lin’s rigorous training to avoid the very situation it was facing now. Ever since Mu Lin picked up a gun, she had trained Qiaozi with it, continually shooting blanks at it to build its agility. Despite it only being blanks, they still hurt when hit, and initially, Qiaozi was tormented quite a bit.

What was more insane was that Mu Lin had once attacked him with a group... That was Qiaozi’s second nightmare after being plucked by Grandfather Jing.

As time passed, Qiaozi’s speed grew even faster.

It could avoid Mu Lin’s shots, so naturally, it could avoid this so-called sniper’s shots as well. Most importantly, Qiaozi didn’t believe this man’s shooting skills were better than Mu Lin’s.

While the sniper stood stunned in disbelief, Qiaozi swiftly lunged at him, snatched his sniper rifle, and left three deep scratch marks on his forehead with one swift strike of its claws, knocking him out instantly.

The sniper would never have imagined that one day he would be beaten by an Oriental Magpie Robin—a robin that knew how to fight back.

"Qiaozi is really powerful." Mu Lin took the spoils of war—a new sniper rifle—from Qiaozi without hesitation, praising it. Qiaozi held its head high, exceedingly proud and arrogant, looking extremely pleased with itself.

Mu Lin chuckled softly at Qiaozi’s delight, leaving Mo Yinfan flabbergasted at what he was seeing.
