Chapter 264: Chapter 208: No Fever (Third Update)_2
Mu Lin caught a glimpse of Qi Zier before he continued... his life was loathsome.
Uncle Qiaozi declared, snakes are indeed the most... detestable creatures.
In the end, Mu Lin caught and threw Qiaozi into the bathroom for cleaning. After he came out squeaky clean and smelling nice, he immediately ran out to pick a fight with the silver snake again.
"Stupid snake, stinking snake, why doesn’t it stay in the box and sleep? What’s the point of waking up for no reason? I’ll show the snake how tough Uncle Qiaozi is."
Ignoring these two, Mu Lin went back to her room, took out some clean clothes, and started to shower.
She had no choice. She was covered in foam from a certain bird earlier.
...
Outside, a snake and an eagle were enjoying their fight. Qizier wanted to swallow silver in one bite, but unfortunately, Silver was too quick and small. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t catch it, and in his frustration, he failed to notice that he had lost a few feathers.
When Jing Chen arrived, this was the scene that greeted him.
Ling Qi had told him that the new soldiers were given a four-day leave. He passed by the barracks earlier, but he didn’t see Mu Lin. He thought she might be in the cabin in the woods, but he didn’t expect to see this strange spectacle of an eagle and a snake fighting.
However, when it came to these peculiar occurrences around Mu Lin, Jing Chen had grown used to them.
He thought it must be another creature with special spiritual abilities.
"Where is Linlin?" Jing Chen asked, looking at Qiaozi who was not far away.
Qiaozi: Aguda (taking a bath).
After a low growl, he swiped at a red spot nearby. However, Silver dodged the attack and showed its teeth.
Jing Chen glanced at the eagle and snake, then went inside the house. He didn’t understand Qiaozi’s bird language. He had no idea why he had asked him in the first place.
Jing Chen felt a little silly for no apparent reason.
Qiaozi had spiritual abilities, but only Mu Lin could understand what he was saying.
When he stepped inside the house, the next moment, he heard the sound of water from the bathroom.
Linlin, taking a bath.
Jing Chen’s eyes lit up at that thought, and he unintentionally started to grin, not sure if he was laughing at his own reaction or something else.
After her bath, Mu Lin opened the bathroom door and stepped out. When she saw Jing Chen sitting outside, she paused.
Jing Chen turned and saw the young girl before him wearing a spotlessly white casual suit. Her waist-length hair was loose, and she was stepping towards him. Behind her, beads of water were dripping.
"Linlin, sit down." Before Mu Lin could speak, Jing Chen stood up and walked towards her, taking her hand and the towel from it, letting her sit in his spot.
Using the towel, he began to gently dry Mu Lin’s hair.
"I can do it myself." Mu Lin reached out to take the towel, unaccustomed to this kind of attention.
However, how could Jing Chen let her do so? He held her hand, a slight smile appearing at the corners of his mouth as the cold aura that usually enveloped him vanished, "Let me do it." It was a rare opportunity for him, so how could he let it pass by?
Mu Lin withdrew her hand, aware of Jing Chen’s unyielding character. She had already gotten used to it.
Since he wanted to help her handle her bothersome hair, she would let him handle it. After all, she wasn’t losing anything in the exchange.
Ever since her master left, no one had helped her manage her troublesome hair.
...
Jing Chen sat behind Mu Lin on a stool, first drying her hair with a towel until it was half-dry. After that, he picked up a hairdryer on the side and set it to a gentle level. The slow warm wind blew, minutes slowly passing, and the place became quiet. Slowly, Mu Lin started to feel a bit sleepy.
Perhaps she really didn’t sleep well last night because of the noise, or maybe, she was just too comfortable.
The smooth texture of her black hair sliding across his fingers was soft to the touch and warmed by the light breeze, causing her hair to slowly dry. The silky feeling was so pleasant that Jing Chen found it hard to let go.
Suddenly, a line he had once seen on the Internet flashed in his mind.
"Madam, your hair has grown down to your waist, would you marry me?" Jing Chen muttered to himself. However, this monologue woke Mu Lin up instantly from her sleepiness.
"What did you say?" Mu Lin stated that she didn’t hear him properly.
However, Jing Chen just played with Mu Lin’s silky black hair and, after a pause, finally continued, "Linlin, your hair has grown down to your waist, would you marry me?" If he can get her name on the family register, then, for the rest of her life, she won’t be able to get away from him.
The air went silent for a moment. The next moment, Mu Lin stood up, turned around to look at him, and checked his forehead with her hand, "You don’t have a fever."
Jing Chen was speechless.
Her reaction won’t ever be like a normal girl’s reaction.
He let out a deep sigh and took her hand off his forehead, making her sit down again, "Your hair isn’t dry yet." After saying that, he continued to dry her hair.
"Why didn’t you go out with Youlan and others?" Jing Chen’s deep voice rang out in Mu Lin’s ears.
Mu Lin: "I have something to study."
"The Heart of Illusion?" Jing Chen asked casually.
She was startled at first, then nodded, "Yes. Zhang Chen asked me to bring it back to study when we were returning. I am also interested in this kind of thing. So, I thought of making use of these holidays to study it properly."
Whenever she talks about things related to medicine and poison, Jing Chen couldn’t help but feel that Mu Lin radiated a different kind of glow.
"I heard it’s pretty powerful, be careful," Jing Chen advised out of instinct.
Mu Lin smiled, "I know." After all, she had tasted it herself. Unfortunately, it had no effect on her at all, much to her disappointment.
"Jing Chen," Just when Jing Chen was drying her hair, Mu Lin suddenly spoke again, her voice carrying a tone of seriousness. "I might not be able to fulfill our cooperation for now."
