Chapter 255: Chapter 202 - I’ll Follow You Tonight (Third Additional Release)_2
"Because it’s my hand." Mu Lin said exasperated; he seemed more and more childish in her eyes.
However, upon hearing her words, Jing Chen gripped onto her hand tighter, clasping their ten fingers together, pulling Mu Lin’s hand to rest against his heart. His eyes softened, "From now on, I won’t ever let you go." This was Jing Chen’s proclamation to Mu Lin.
The woman in front of him, should bear his last name – Jing, before her own.
And from henceforth, the only woman he’d allow into his eyes and heart, the only woman worthy of being there was her - Mu Lin.
As she gazed at Jing Chen, Mu Lin was slightly dazed, she couldn’t comprehend his feelings but she felt her heart pounding against her chest out of its own accord. Covering up her heart unconsciously, her eyes were slightly confused.
Seeing her like this, Jing Chen smiled, a deeply content smile.
His Linlin was not indifferent to him, she might just not yet comprehend how to respond to his feelings; it didn’t matter, he would slowly teach her, how to fall in love with him.
Not far from them stood a group of people who were spying on them, pretending not to be too close. They were the perfect image of busybodies.
"Oh my gosh...I’m so excited I can’t even blink, why hasn’t my brother kissed her yet!"
The onlookers were relatively far from Jing Chen and Mu Lin and therefore couldn’t hear their conversation.
But that wasn’t important! Surely, believing in what one heard was deceptive, seeing was believing!
The most critical point was, the beautiful picture in front of them told them everything they needed to know.
Under the dim street light, the beautiful girl gazed up into the eyes of the handsome man standing in front of her, seemingly asking something. And at the next moment, the man took the girl’s hand, their ten fingers tightly intertwined, and slowly placed her hand on his heart. His lips moved slightly as he pronounced the most heartfelt phrase, "I love you!" without an ounce of regret.
Upon hearing this phrase, the girl clasped her heart joyfully.
The man lowered his head slowly, as if about to lean in for a kiss, but... Jing Youlan sighed, his brother was so wooden. Seeing Mu Lin trustingly tilt her head upwards, yet he still didn’t kiss her, it was as if he had had a door slammed against his head.
The above was entirely Jing Youlan’s imaginative version of events; however, the scene before their eyes seemed to confirm their suspicions.
They never would have believed that the most beautiful flower within their army of fresh recruits could be easily won over in such a short time. Their object of envy was Jing Chen, but this somehow didn’t sit right with them.
...
Not too far away, Mu Lin quickly retracted her hand. Her wildly beating heart made her feel flustered; she turned away from him, but surprisingly saw her team standing there, watching them like spectators at a play. She raised her eyebrow and walked towards them.
"Aren’t you leaving? Do you plan to camp out here for the night?" A sceptical smile crossed Mu Lin’s face as she scanned the crowd before her, her gaze finally landing on Jing Youlan’s handsome face.
Jing Youlan quickly shook his head, with a dismissive laugh on his face, "We just didn’t want to disturb your romantic moment with my brother."
Her romantic moment with Jiang Chen? Ridiculous, she hardly had the time to spare.
Hearing this, Mu Lin didn’t bother to talk to him anymore and asked the other people, "You were investigating all day today, did you find out anything new?" They all shook their heads. Yue Qiao stepped up and said, "We have, but we’re not sure if it’s related to our task."
"Let’s hear it then," replied Mu Lin.
"Yue Qiao and I pretended to be a couple and visited some hotels and inns today. At one of the smaller inns, we noticed something strange. We’re not sure if it’s another one of their hideouts or distribution points, or if the lady innkeeper is just a weirdo," Yue Qiao said, a tinge of hesitation flashed in his eyes. "The rooms there were full of surveillance cameras. Mu Lin, do you think we should go back there tonight and keep investigating?"
Hearing these words, Mu Lin seemed lost in thought, "Perhaps you did encounter a weirdo. Great work. If you get the chance, make sure to take that place down. After all, we’re supposed to stop evil and protect the innocent."
Everyone noticed something satirical and amusing in Mu Lin’s words, but Yue Qiao seemed helpless. He glanced at Zhou Yicen, who then pulled out... seven or eight hotel key cards from his pocket and said, "I have already booked all of your rooms for tonight, although they are under Yue Qiao and my name. In order not to waste them, you should stay in those places tonight."
After a short pause he continued, "The rooms are all clean and tidy, but they’re... a bit far apart. But we’re soldiers, it’s not a big deal."
Of course, one could blame them for this. After all, they were looking for clues.
"Mu Lin, what do you think?" After speaking, Zhou Yicen looked at Mu Lin, awaiting her decision.
Mu Lin appeared thoughtful, "It sounds like a good plan." Truthfully, she wanted to know what these two guys were up to during the day. She had a hunch that something significant must have happened today. She felt that the atmosphere between Zhou Yicen and Yue Qiao had changed a lot since she last saw them.
As the saying goes, outsiders can see things more clearly. It’s just that some people themselves don’t realize it.
"Keep the key cards and stay in those rooms. Don’t waste them. And notify everyone to gather at the station by ten o’clock tomorrow morning. As for me..." Mu Lin glanced at Yue Qiao and Zhou Yicen, a small smile played on her lips, "I’ll stay with you two for the night."
