Chapter 194: Chapter 168: We’re Playing with, People’s Hearts! (First update) _1

"How was the reconnaissance?" Under a dense forest about five hundred meters away from Mu Lin and his party, a man calmly inquired from the returnee.

"I’ve seen them. They are about five to six hundred meters away," replied the man coolly. "Ten in all, six men and four women." He paused before continuing, "Several of them appeared to be children from aristocratic families." In other words, spoiled rich kids.

From their discourse and behavior, it was clear they were nonchalant and clueless about what they were doing. Instead of enjoying their comfortable life outside, they came to the military camp to create chaos, seemingly unaware that they could lose their lives at any time. But when that happens, no one will show them sympathy.

As far as these people were concerned, the loss of life among these rich kids had nothing to do with them. All they cared about was not getting implicated or hindered by these kids’ reckless actions.

"Is that so?" The crowd laughed, a certain person made a sarcastic comment, "Here I was thinking that the team Captain Jing specifically mentioned would be formidable. Turns out they are just like this." They were genuinely disappointed, their disdain for these aristocrats was clear. However, they seemed to forget that both Jing Tian and Jing Chen were also born into aristocratic families.

Pay no mind to their aristocratic lineage.

The place of their birth did not matter to these simple folks; their abilities were what truly stood out. Most of the time, people forgot that their surname, Jing, indicated they were from the Jing family.

The only hope remaining for the Jing family is Jing Youlan; given enough time, she will surely transform herself.

"So, how shall we play with them?" Another man asked. Even though it was going to be mundane, they were still eager to take action. There was a certain tactic for dealing with capable opponents, but when dealing with a group of weaklings, they were free to toy with them as they pleased.

"I think we could send half of us to create a ruckus in their den. It could serve as a surprising welcome gift, reminding them that there is always someone better out there. Since they are in our territory, they better brace themselves," proposed one man.

The others agreed.

"Then it’s settled," the leader of the group nodded in agreement before turning to a few men in front of him. After thinking it over, he said, "Ye Qing, Wang Ming, Lin Shan, Yuan Yu, Zhang Xiaoliang, you five go and probe their strength. Return when you have enough information." Only a bit more than one day in their seven-day timeline had passed, they had plenty of time to confront them and didn’t need to rush.

"Affirmative," the five echoed.

If you observed closely, one of them was the "peach blossom" that Captain Jing refused to acknowledge and had rustled Mu Lin’s feathers previously. Who knows what expression she would wear when she saw Mu Lin in the enemy camp...

Would she be jealous? Or would she still be jealous? Or be JEALOUS?

...

Meanwhile, Mu Lin and his group had already let down their guard, revealing their true nature too soon. No wonder the opponent recognized them as the loafing aristocrats.

But this was fine too.

As the saying goes, ’Soldiers meet soldiers, and water meets water.’ Being overly cautious would only make the enemy hesitant to attack ...or to look for punishment.

"Alright, you guys can stop the act now," said someone after they had quite fun impersonating spoiled rich kids for quite some time.

"Did that person leave?" Yang Yuebin asked Mu Lin, who nodded, "They left quite a while ago."

He relievedly took a deep breath. With a mischievous smile on his face, Yang Yuebin glanced at Xia Zeyang and jeered, "Zeyang, I never knew you could have such a heated argument with people." This had completely blown his mind!

Since they’d known each other, they hadn’t once fought or disagreed, until just moments now.

"Ahem..." At Yang Yuebin’s remark, Xia Zeyang coughed awkwardly, "I learned all of that from books and TV dramas." It was his first attempt at playing a spoiled rich kid and he found the experience quite peculiar.

Looking toward Mu Lin, he asked in puzzision, "Why did we have to act this way?" He was uncertain and felt that their tactics were overly complicated.

"Well, there’s really no special reason," Mu Lin laughed, "I just thought it would be fun." Against real enemies, Mu Lin wouldn’t hesitate to eliminate them entirely, but for these faux foes, he preferred to... have a bit of fun.
