Chapter 190: Chapter 166 Future Sister-in-Law (Second Update)_1

Wilderness survival training involves surviving for 7 days in the jungle with only three days of food, carrying firearms, ammunition, and essential survival supplies. Along the way, you also have to carry out prearranged tasks such as combat, ambushes, stealth attacks and reconnaissance missions, depending on the whims of those in charge.

In this context, you are required to utilize all the skills and knowledge you have acquired during previous trainings. Not only physical skills and intellect but unity as well. Even then, it could be insufficient. You have to push beyond your limits. Only the last team standing can be deemed as the real winners. After such training, you would realize your own limitations and inadequacies, which would motivate you to invest more effort in your training thereafter.

This is the real purpose of this wilderness survival training arranged by Ling Qi.

The forest in front of him stretched for about 800 kilometers from one end to the other. Inside, there were water and food. He wondered if these youngsters would be able to surprise him.

"So, do you want to join them?" Ling Qi asked Qiaozi, who stood by his side, his eagle eyes fixed intensely on Mu Lin’s retreating figure.

Qiaozi made no response, but its anticipation of joining them was palpable. Yet it was a pity.

Ling Qi patted Qiaozi’s head, "Although you’re not technically human, judging by your combat abilities, I can’t allow you to join Mu Lin and his team. It would give the opposition an excuse to discredit Mu Lin if he wins this survival training. That’s unacceptable."

In fact, Ling Qi had a clear understanding of the situation. Among the three squads already assigned, he was confident in Mu Lin’s team. Whether it be a male or female member of their squad, each was exceptionally talented. To ensure parity, all the female trainees were assigned to Mu Lin and Jing Youlan’s team to avoid any blame on female trainees for pulling the team down if they lost.

Ling Qi admittedly had a bias in arranging the teams this way especially since the members of Mu Lin’s team were the most harmonious and familiar with each other. Regardless of how long the Land Troops had trained in comparison, the competitors from Mu Lin’s team were not to be underestimated.

Particularly Mu Lin himself at the helm.

Having heard Ling Qi’s explanation, Qiaozi seemed to understand. The gist of it was that he could not be allowed to protect Mu Lin under any circumstances.

"Come on, I know you’re worried about Mu Lin. But standing here won’t help as they’ve already moved deep into the forest." Ling Qi called Qiaozi over, "I’ll take you to a great spot where you can keep an eye on Mu Lin in real-time." Qiaozi then turned and followed.

Qiaozi thought: Fine, I’ll watch from outside the forest then.

...

Each of the three teams chose a different direction to advance.

Once they entered the forest, everyone was on high alert, scanning their surrounding environment, unsure of when the enemy might strike.

"We don’t need to be this alert for now." Jing Youlan said to the others: "We’ve just set foot here. As Instructor Ling stated earlier, the opponents have entered from the opposite end. So, we can afford to relax a little for now." Being this tense from the get-go would make the next seven days unbearable.

Upon hearing Jing Youlan’s words, everyone put their guns away and relaxed a bit.

"What should we do next?" Yang Yuebin asked Jing Youlan; after all, she had two brothers who were distinguished figures in the army. "I’ve heard that the leader from the opponent’s team is your second brother, Jing Chen. Do you know much about him?" It was really flattering for these new recruits, who had only been in the camp for a short period of time, to be pitted against the legendary Jing Chen. Was the instructor planning to push them to their limits?

Jing Youlan shook her head, "I don’t know much about my second brother." She hardly saw him throughout the year, but, "I heard from my brother that Jing Chen is a cunning fox. No one knows what he is thinking. One moment he can be laughing, the next, he can kill. If his team was trained by him, we’d have to be extremely careful." She was glad that Jing Tian wasn’t the one they were up against, as his men would pose a much bigger challenge than Jing Chen’s.
