Chapter 1068: Chapter 719 We’re Just Here to Die (Part 1)
Mu Lin looked at the two people, "May I ask what happened here?"
"Did you come here specifically for tourism?" the other party asked instead of answering, "If you are here for tourism, then listen to my advice, leave quickly, otherwise, in the end, even if you want to leave, you won’t be able to." Just like them.
"What if we’re not here for tourism?" Jing Tian raised an eyebrow as he glanced at the two, clicking his tongue... To call himself ’bro’ in front of them, his guts are really fat.
"Not for tourism!" Hearing what Jing Tian said, the two men looked at each other, "Could it be that you’re here to seek death?" they teased with laughter.
"Hey, you’re actually right." Jing Tian smiled brightly, "We’re indeed here to seek death." After accepting such a mission, wasn’t it just seeking death?
The two men looked at Jing Tian as if he were a fool.
Mu Lin shot a glance at the joker beside her, "Don’t mind him." This kid doesn’t even know how to be serious in front of them; if she hadn’t seen his authority in her own troops, Mu Lin probably wouldn’t associate the word ’serious’ with him.
The two men nodded in agreement, indeed not continuing to bother with him, turning their gaze to Mu Lin, "You both came over from there, didn’t you?" Because Mu Lin and Jing Tian were speaking in authentic language. Although some people from other countries could also speak it, it always sounded somewhat odd.
Mu Lin nodded, "We are from B City."
"B City! So am I." One of the men looked at Mu Lin in surprise, then smiled, "It’s just that I haven’t been back for several years; B City must be even more prosperous now." That was their capital after all.
Only when Mu Lin mentioned it did he remember that since coming to F Country, after all these years, he had almost forgotten what it looked like; and their family members, always wistfully thinking of them whenever they looked at younger ones.
"Yeah." Mu Lin nodded, then suddenly said, "Can you take me to your base to have a look?"
The two men were stunned, "You guys?" They didn’t understand why Mu Lin and Jing Tian would want to go to their base.
"I’m a doctor, quite well-known in B City." Her gaze shifted to the mountain-like piles of bodies, Mu Lin said: "Especially when it comes to complicated and difficult cases, I’ve done a lot of research. It looks like there are some difficulties here; doctors should have benevolent hearts, and I hope I can be of some help."
Mu Lin thought that if she wanted to understand these matters, it would probably be clearer at their base; from these two men’s demeanor, Mu Lin could tell that there should be a medical base in this town, and probably quite a few people in it.
Listening to Mu Lin’s words, Jing Tian slightly curled his lip.
The sister-in-law really is modest, what does ’quite well-known’ mean! The name of ’Divine Doctor Mu’ had a reputation in B City and even the entire current situation that one really didn’t know how to describe.
If that’s what counts as ’quite well-known’, then probably every doctor hopes to be — ’quite well-known.’
But ’doctors should have benevolent hearts’... Sister-in-law, the term doesn’t really suit you that much.
Probably aware of the commentary from the person next to her, Mu Lin shot him a cool glance, Jing Er Ye chuckled coyly, and Mu Lin sighed helplessly.
Fortunately, she looked down on this face; this time, it would probably be the worst her husband has ever been smeared.
"I didn’t expect you to be a doctor." It was indeed hard to tell, Mu Lin didn’t look much like it, but they always say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, and thinking like that, it seemed normal.
One of them looked at the other, "Why don’t we take them to have a look?" After all, they were fellow countrymen.
In a foreign country, when fellow countrymen meet, they naturally feel more cordial, and of course, they’re even less guarded.
The other person nodded, then the two men introduced themselves to Mu Lin, "My name is Zhang Yu, his name is Li Qing. You can follow us this way." Saying that, they led the way, with Mu Lin and Jing Tian following.
After walking a short distance, Zhang Yu turned to Mu Lin and Jing Tian, "It seems we forgot to ask, how should we address the two of you?"
Jing Tian: "My surname is Jing, this is my..." The words ’my wife,’ just couldn’t come out of his mouth no matter what!
Mu Lin shot him a glance, then took over, "My name is Mu Lin."
Zhang Yu nodded in understanding, "So it’s Mr. Jing and Miss Mu Lin. May I ask what are the two of you?" The impression that Mu Lin and Jing Tian gave them was quite strange.
Are they a couple or not? It doesn’t seem quite right either way. Could they be siblings?
Both were wearing masks, so it was impossible to get a clear view of Mu Lin and Jing Tian’s faces. Nonetheless, they seemed to follow Mu Lin’s lead, which led to speculation.
However.
"We are husband and wife," said Mu Lin in a cool tone, and they understood at once: they were a married couple.
Jing Tian: ...Can I say we’re not?
Mu Lin: What do you think?
...
The medical base was not too far from the graveyard, but not particularly close either. It had taken them about fifteen minutes to walk there; it seemed to serve as a form of isolation as well.
When Mu Lin and the others entered the base, they saw that the facilities and equipment were not of great quality.
To put it nicely, it was a medical base. To be blunt, it was more like a large warehouse that could accommodate several hundred people.
There were two floors in the warehouse. Mu Lin guessed that the second floor was for isolation and treatment or research, while the first floor was for the less serious cases, with only a dozen or so beds. Many people were sitting or even lying on the ground, which was covered with various materials.
The warehouse was crowded, easily housing over a hundred people.
"You’re back," said a woman doctor in a white coat, approaching them with a surprised look in her eyes. "Who are these two?"
Zhang Yu explained, "I just met them outside. They’re fellow townspeople from B City. Miss Mu Lin here says she’s a doctor, and she’s willing to help out here if possible."
Zhang Yu believed that a doctor who had made a name for himself in a big city like B City must possess considerable medical skill. Although Mu Lin looked young, her presence made him unconsciously believe everything she said.
"Oh, I see," the female doctor said with a smile, addressing the two, "Go on with your work. I was just about to go upstairs to find Doctor Ouyang Bo. I’ll take them up and introduce them."
"Alright then." The two men nodded to Mu Lin and left; they were always very busy.
"Please come this way," the female doctor led them, introducing herself as they walked. "My name is Ouyang Zishan, and I’m one of the main doctors here." Then she turned to Mu Lin, "How long have you been studying medicine and what brought you to F Country at this time?"
F Country was in utter chaos. The situation must have been heard of widely by now, and no one should have come at such a time.
Ouyang Zishan could tell from the demeanor of Mu Lin and Jing Chen that they were not ordinary people, but she believed they were not bad people.
Aftrer all, her judgment of character had never failed her.
Mu Lin said, "I just happened to come here and saw that ... " she sighed faintly, implying the other already understood, "... as for how long I’ve been studying medicine, I can’t quite recall. But I’ve been learning from my Master since I can remember." If she had to be specific, it must have been at least twenty years by now.
Although she looked... well, not very old.
"That’s similar to me," Ouyang Zishan replied with a smile, excited, "Because my father is a doctor, I have aspired to become one since childhood. However..." she glanced at Mu Lin, a bit embarrassed, "My father practices Chinese Medicine, but I pursued Western medicine. As much as I admire the medical profession, I’ve never fancied studying Chinese Medicine. Just looking at my father’s Chinese medical books gives me a headache." If it weren’t for that, she would not have chosen Western medicine.
Mu Lin simply nodded and smiled, without speaking. To be honest, Chinese medicine is indeed harder to learn than Western medicine. One truly cannot understand it without patience. Additionally, one should learn as long as one lives, and even now, Mu Lin would not dare to claim she had thoroughly mastered Chinese medicine.
"So, you must have studied Western medicine too, Mu Lin," Ouyang Zishan said, her impression of Mu Lin improving because they were both doctors of similar age. She naturally omitted the more formal address "Miss."
"I also studied Chinese Medicine," Mu Lin replied, to which Ouyang Zishan expressed surprise, "I wouldn’t have guessed you’d be interested in such a boring subject as Chinese Medicine, really unexpected!" Despite acknowledging the depth and ancient heritage of Chinese Medicine, she still preferred Western medicine.
Mu Lin just offered a faint smile and said nothing. Some things cannot be forced.
Soon, the three of them arrived at Doctor Ouyang Bo’s office where he was busy working on something.
