Chapter 1028: Chapter 688: I’m telling the truth! (15)
The elder looked at the two gentlemen, "I understand." Then, his gaze shifted to Jian Yan, "You can go back now, from now on no research institute will accommodate you;" immediately, Jian Yan’s eyes widened, and she finally looked up, incredulously staring at the elder.
How could this be! She clearly got in on her own merit, why should she be the one to leave?
Jian Yan wanted to retort, but upon seeing the elder’s indifferent, serious gaze filled with authority, she suddenly found herself speechless.
The elder continued, "I hope this time you go back and reflect on what exactly you did wrong today; go back and tell your grandpa, the Jian Family owes Mu Lin an apology."
The elder’s words were quite clear: not only did Jian Yan need to apologize, but the entire Jian Family as well—this was also a warning to the patriarch of the Jian Family.
Since the patriarch of the Jian Family had the influence to get his granddaughter into this place, it was his responsibility to deal with the trouble she caused; not to mention, she almost killed Mu Lin, whom he regarded as his own granddaughter.
"Take off your coat, and you can go," the elder said calmly, staring at the resentment in her eyes, his face completely expressionless, "I think after what happened today, you’ve lost the right to wear this white coat."
The words of the elder were taken as an authoritative decree.
To everyone’s surprise, even considering the patriarch of the Jian Family’s sake, the elder showed no mercy; it seemed that he indeed had a great fondness for the young Divine Doctor, although some of it was because of Master Jing.
Of course, Jian Yan indeed got what she deserved; the trouble she caused this time was too serious; had the young Divine Doctor not been alright... the consequences would have been unimaginable.
But for the patriarch of the Jian Family and the young Divine Doctor to apologize... they couldn’t understand why the elder would issue such an order; could it be that he was preparing to make an enemy of the Jian Family?
A bunch of people making wild guesses—did they even have the right and the ability to speculate?
Jian Yan ran out almost in tears, but sadly, she received not a single sympathetic glance.
Mu Lin locked herself in the research room and didn’t come out until very late; when she finally stepped outside, it was already past eight in the evening. Seeing several unexpected faces in front of her, Mu Lin was bewildered, "Why have you all come?" Speaking of which, had something else happened outside?
"We heard you were in trouble," the elder spoke first, his eyes filled with laughter as he looked at Mu Lin, "We were really scared for half our lives, but thankfully you’re fine."
Mu Lin chuckled, "What could happen to me?" In a reassuring manner, she glanced at Master Jing and Jing Chen, then turned to them with a serious expression, "I think I might have developed the antidote."
"What did you say?" Almost in unison, everyone stared at her intently, causing Mu Lin to feel a bit uneasy.
Mu Lin was puzzled, "I’m telling the truth!"
A silent laughter spread among the crowd.
Sometimes the bewildered and silly Mu Lin was just too cute.
"Girl, are you saying that you’ve already developed the antidote?" Master Gong looked at Mu Lin with surprise.
Mu Lin nodded, "But there are some ingredients I still need to gather; I might need to go back to the Black Forest." On second thought, she had already been there once this year, during her master’s memorial.
After a pause, Mu Lin continued, "That’s also where today’s scratch gave me the inspiration." No one would have expected such a serendipitous twist; she went on, "Since the virus has no effect on me, it must be because I’ve been soaking in the Medicine Soup my master prepared for me since I was a child, so I thought, maybe the main nemesis for it are those ingredients; but they are quite rare, and there are many varieties I have only seen in the Black Forest, so..."
What she meant to say next was, perhaps, no longer needed; she had to go back to the Black Forest.
"I’ll accompany you," Jing Chen, who had been silent until then, finally spoke up. Mu Lin turned to look at him, "I also want to take the opportunity to visit my father," referring to Mu Jue, "I missed it last time due to a mission." But actually, another reason for Jing Chen’s unease was that although this time had passed without incident, it truly frightened him.
Mu Lin chuckled, was this supposed to be an explanation?
Actually, during Qingming Festival, since Jing Chen happened to be on a mission, Mu Lin had gone with Gong Muxue, Gong Rui, and the two treasures alone.
