Chapter 1014: Chapter 678: Mr. Jing, Fierce as Wolves and Tigers (Part 5)
"Is it very troublesome?" Grandpa Gong looked at Mu Lin. It was the first time Mu Lin had sought his help, which inevitably made him somewhat concerned.
Mu Lin nodded, "Indeed, it’s quite troublesome, but don’t worry, Grandpa. When the time comes, it won’t be just the two of us; Elder Mei will join us, as well as some researchers in that field." This time, quite a few people were mobilized, all from the Organization. Actually, Mu Lin had been ready to call Grandpa Gong. He also wanted to ask Grandpa to bring some good herbal medicine down with him, but unfortunately, he was one step too late.
"It seems like it’s really a complicated matter," Grandpa Gong said, "Do I happen to be joining in at just the right time?" He chuckled.
He had actually planned to come a bit later, but then he suddenly felt like coming. It seemed that fate had decided he should come and help.
Mu Lin let out a light laugh, "You could say that." It was indeed a lively situation, albeit a troublesome one. "Grandpa, you should rest well these few days. After this, we will be quite busy."
"Does the girl have other tasks to attend to?" Grandpa Jing looked at Mu Lin and asked, perplexed.
"Planning to collect some interest," Mu Lin did not hide the truth. Upon hearing this, Grandpa Jing remained silent for a short while before continuing, "Girl, can you reveal what your mission is this time?"
He had heard bits and pieces but was not entirely clear, and some information had not yet been relayed back.
Mu Lin looked at Jing Chen, who passed his phone to Grandpa. Mu Lin said, "It’s related to this." The elder took the phone and, at a glance, Grandpa Jing’s phone was flung out, "Not this again!"
Grandpa Jing thought: His phone hadn’t done anything wrong, had it?
"What?" Seeing the phone fly away, Grandpa Gong was puzzled. Grandpa Jing usually had a great temper; what on earth could make him so angry?
Xiaoyue climbed down from Mu Lin’s embrace and ran to Grandpa Jing’s feet, looking up at him and comforting him, "Don’t be angry, Great Grandpa." Grandpa Jing picked her up and held her in his arms.
Sitting on the side, Gong Rui intended to stand up to pick up the phone, but Nuonuo was lying in her lap, making it impossible for her to get up.
Song Qi went over to pick up the phone. Thankfully, only half the screen was cracked; the rest was undamaged, the quality was quite good.
Song Qi smiled, but his expression changed when he saw the photo on the phone.
"Will these people never learn?" Why, after decades, is their conduct still so disgusting?
"What is it?" Curiosity was written all over Grandpa Gong’s face. Song Qi looked at Grandpa Jing, who nodded slightly. Since Mu Lin had already invited Grandpa Jing to help, there was probably no need to hide anything anymore.
"Human experimentation." Grandpa Gong stared at Mu Lin, shocked by the certainty of the statement.
Who else but they could commit such cruel acts?
Don’t forget, although hidden from the world, it doesn’t mean that they’re unaware of the outside world; the Gong family kept to itself, but the younger generations of the public branch of the family were always out there making their way.
Mu Lin nodded, "That’s right." The left seeks peace, while the right is bellicose.
Both elders looked at Mu Lin, "So, girl, are you planning to look for them?"
She nodded again.
"No, it’s too dangerous!" As expected, both elders disagreed, but Mu Lin calmly looked at them, "Grandpa, Grandpa, this photo is just a small glimpse of the whole. If you had been there at the scene, I think your reactions would be even stronger than mine."
The two elders did not speak; having only that one photo, yet having witnessed what happened decades ago, how could they not imagine such scenes.
Indeed, it was intolerable!
"Such scenes, even someone as detached as I am, couldn’t help but become infuriated. I could not help but want to seek justice for them." And her main purpose in going there was... "Rest assured, Grandpa, Grandpa, I’m just going to teach them a lesson; I just don’t want to see a scene like this again."
Of course, she had another purpose, which she would keep to herself for now.
Looking at Mu Lin, the elder did not speak, but Mu Lin believed that they must understand her intentions.
Jing Chen spoke, "I will accompany her." It wasn’t that he distrusted her abilities, but that he wanted to be with her, that was all.
On the side, looking at Mu Lin, Gong Muxue’s eyes could hardly conceal her worry, but in the end, all she could do was let out a small sigh.
At times, she had thought that if her daughter were more ordinary, perhaps it would be better; but after much thought, she realized that then she wouldn’t be her Linlin anymore.
Actually, as long as her daughter was happy, that was all she wanted.
Now, Gong Muxue surrounded by several children, pushed her inner sorrow deep down into her heart.
Having suffered for much of her life, at this moment she felt very happy and content; all she wished for now was a life of peace and happiness for her daughter.
In the evening, with Jing Chen absent, Mu Lin alone in her room studied the information obtained from the elder, when a knock on the door sounded, "Come in." Mu Lin responded without turning her head.
The room door opened, and Gong Muxue, with a tray in hand, appeared in Mu Lin’s room. "Are you still busy?" Her gaze was tender as she looked at Mu Lin’s slender yet strong back, protecting countless people.
Her daughter was the best in the world.
Hearing Gong Muxue’s voice, Mu Lin turned around, smiling shallowly, "Mom, I’m reviewing some materials." She stood up and walked toward her mother as she spoke.
"Don’t overwork yourself." To a mother, that was ultimately what she cared about most.
Mu Lin nodded, "I will take care." Then she moved to the side, and Gong Muxue said, "I made you some egg custard." It was her three children’s favorite dish.
"Thank you, mom." Mu Lin smiled as she looked at her.
Gong Muxue: "What are you thanking me for?" She reached out to smooth the hair beside Mu Lin’s cheek, "As long as you like it, mom is happy." Unfortunately, she was often too busy to have an opportunity to enjoy the things she made with her own hands.
But luckily, those three little ones liked it.
"Of course, I do." Although Mu Lin preferred vegetarian food, she wasn’t picky and could eat a little bit of everything. To be honest, the egg custard that Gong Muxue made really suited her taste.
The flavor was mild and silky, very delicious.
And for Gong Muxue, watching her child eat the food she made with her own hands was the happiest thing.
In that brief time together, Gong Muxue sat next to Mu Lin, not speaking, just watching her quietly. Mu Lin originally thought she would talk about what happened during the day, but unexpectedly, she did not mention a word.
It had always been like that; Mu Lin had always known it wasn’t that her mother didn’t want to ask, but that she didn’t want to become a burden to her.
In fact, all Gong Muxue wanted was to have a good look at Mu Lin when she was home because she never knew how long it would be until she returned next time.
"Don’t worry, mom, I won’t have any problems." Mu Lin assured her; Gong Muxue nodded in belief.
Her daughter had always been one to do as she said.
After finishing the custard, Gong Muxue cleaned up the bowl and left, not wanting to disturb her daughter any longer. After a while, Jing Chen came back.
"Did you just finish a late-night snack?" Although the window was open, the smell of the egg custard had not completely dissipated.
Mu Lin nodded, "Mom brought it up."
Jing Chen knew that the ’mom’ Mu Lin referred to was Gong Muxue. After all, his own mother wouldn’t really do those kinds of things. A career woman, strong-willed, compared to Gong Muxue, Gu Muqing indeed lacked some — femininity.
However, it was just as well, Jing Zhengyang didn’t need his wife to have femininity; no way around it, he just liked it that way.
Jing Chen felt that his own wife was better — both powerful and feminine.
Mu Lin rolled her eyes at him in response.
After finishing washing up, Jing Chen only had a towel wrapped around his waist. Mu Lin was still sitting at the dressing table deep in thought, when the next moment, she suddenly found her feet off the ground. Mu Lin instinctively looked at Jing Chen, "Do you not make any sound when you walk?"
Jing Chen curled his lips, "It’s just that you were too focused." He then carried Mu Lin to the bed.
Mu Lin: "I haven’t finished reading yet!" she protested.
Jing Chen: "You can read it on the plane tomorrow." Besides, "I, your husband, am way more attractive than that stuff." The next second, he sealed her rosy lips with a kiss.
Mu Lin: That’s not even something you compare!
Feeling the white eye from his wife, Jing Chen leisurely planted a kiss beside her lips, "Madam, good morning."
"It’s not early anymore." She had overslept compared to the original plan; but! The culprit in front of her didn’t seem to have any awareness of it.
Oh well, Mu Lin couldn’t be bothered with him.
Mu Lin: ...I actually meant to refuse.
Carrying Mu Lin to the bathroom, the toothpaste was already squeezed out, and this morning Jing Chen was especially attentive. After putting Mu Lin down, he dashed downstairs to prepare breakfast.
The affection between the two brought comfort to the two elders.
After breakfast, the two set off; and on the plane, Mu Lin slept soundly against Jing Chen’s shoulder.
What happened to — the materials?
