Chapter 70: Opening Gunfire
Chapter 70: Chapter 70: Opening Gunfire
"Bang, bang, bang..."
As soon as Feng Xue stepped out of the door, a flurry of gunshots exploded around him, and he saw a group of armed foreigners firing at the door he had just stepped through.
Seeing this scene, Feng Xue immediately dismissed the idea of using the cardboard box; after all, the box only reduced his presence and did not have attributes like [Solid] or [Impervious to Hits].
If exposed to a barrage of gunfire, even if the box could withstand it, it might still be blown away, and Feng Xue, trapped inside the box, would be unable to move—an almost certain death sentence.
While the low presence effect of the Assassin’s suit was still active, Feng Xue quickly scanned his surroundings. Although he did not know why, at the moment he stepped out, the Assassin label and the Sharpness element both stopped responding, but he began to act according to the contingency plan he had formulated earlier.
Ambushed, a vast number of enemies, extensive firepower, no escape, no casualties so far, probably non-lethal bullets... but were there people outside who hadn’t started shooting...
Plan B: no escape!
After making his decision, Feng Xue hesitated no longer; he immediately pulled a card from his Storage Bag, and as his thoughts of using it arose, the card emitted a golden glow. Soon, a not-too-large box adorned with many Ancient Egyptian patterns, seemingly made of pure gold, appeared before him.
Name: Phantom Object·Sealed Golden Chest
Attributes: [Storage], [Space], [Tool], [Magic]
Description: A golden chest that can transfer items placed within it to another dimension; only when the owner returns to the place of sealing can they be summoned back.
Note: Don’t bother looking; there’s no Millennium Puzzle in it.
With the fastest speed he had ever reached in his life, Feng Xue threw his Storage Bag into it, followed by the Holy Mother, the Suffocation Blade, and then quickly removed the Silent Boots, shoving them, along with the cardboard box, inside.
As he was about to continue stripping off his clothes, an intense pain suddenly exploded throughout his body.
Though the blunt pain wasn’t deadly, the tremendous impact made his body sway.
Abandoning his plan to take off more clothes, Feng Xue issued the final command to the Golden Chest. As the golden chest turned into nothingness, several rubber bullets struck his body.

Columbia, Saint Luton City, West District, in an obscure privately owned prison, a man sat quietly in an office chair. His expression appeared calm, but the constant tapping of his foot revealed his inner unrest.
Suddenly, the door to the office was knocked on urgently. He instinctively wanted to stand up, yet forcefully suppressed his emotions and sat back down in the executive chair before speaking in as steady a tone as possible,
"Come in."
"Click..."
The door, with its refined real wood grain, was pushed open, and a middle-aged man in his forties, dressed in a suit, entered. The sight of the visitor brought a small sense of relief to the man in the executive chair. After waiting for a few seconds, he finally spoke:
"How’s the situation?"
"Boss, the Trojan Horse Plan is going smoothly, Dr. Fran’s guess was correct!" The middle-aged man who entered the room was obviously excited, swinging his arms vigorously as he spoke:
"We’ve caught over thirty ’wandering souls’ this time, and seized a dozen magic items. If we kill them all, maybe even more items would drop!"
"It’s too wasteful to just kill them outright. Hand them over to Fran, let him make good use of them. Who knows, perhaps he could even develop a technique to increase the drop rate of magic items?" The man in the boss chair sounded noticeably relieved after receiving the positive update.
"Alright, I’ll arrange that right away." The middle-aged man immediately turned and left, and it wasn’t until the door closed that the man in the boss chair finally ceased to contain his excited emotions, swinging his arms wildly, though no sound came out.
He had already sunk considerable money into this plan, but it didn’t matter, just this once, he would earn back everything he had invested, with interest!
A small time bomb, an ignored Black criminal, in exchange for a dozen priceless magic items, this deal was incredibly profitable!
He thought that the wisest decision in his life was taking Fran in...

In the streets of Saint Luotan City, the shrill sound of police sirens incessantly disturbed many residents, yet no one was bothered by such noise; after all, in this chaotic city, they couldn’t sleep well without hearing several shots or sirens each day—
No one wanted to hear those sounds in the middle of the night.
What nobody knew, however, was that the rows of prison transports were not carrying humans, but various ghastly beings shaped like people.
These grotesque beings were stripped bare, sitting naked inside the transports, seemingly proving their resilience with the number of purple bruises from rubber bullets on their bodies.
"Damn it!" Feng Xue couldn’t comprehend the jumble of incomprehensible language around him, and he was completely overwhelmed. It was at this moment he truly realized how crucial Infinite City’s feature of "everyone understanding each other" was.
Now, even if he wanted to conspire a prison break, no one could understand him!
"Thankfully, I was cautious enough, at least there’s still a glimmer of hope left for turning things around." Feng Xue sighed, crossed his legs in a leisurely manner, trying not to be too embarrassed due to the exposure of his "men’s black ball," while he glanced out of the transport to figure out his location.
Most of the people here were Caucasian, but an occasional Black person could be seen outside the windows. Stores along the street had signboards with letters, and although Feng Xue’s command of English was mediocre, he still made out words like "store," "shoes," and "clothes."
"Luckily, it seems they speak English here. Unfortunately, my English is not very good."
Feng Xue sighed, casually tossed the handful of salt that appeared in his hand under the seat—who knows if those outside would suspect him of having some space ability because of this. But whatever the case, he needed to curb his habit of making sarcastic remarks; getting shot over a packet of salt would be utterly absurd.
With sirens blaring, the prison transport arrived at a building. From the word on the main entrance’s sign, Feng Xue barely recognized the meaning of "prison"—this made him a bit disoriented. Was this world already equipped with a comprehensive strategy against Infinite City? Did any ghastly beings daring to cross over get immediately captured for corrective labor in prison?
However, he quickly realized that it wasn’t the case, because upon entering the prison, instead of being taken for inspection or thrown directly into a cell like in the movies, the transport continued straight to the underground parking garage and then entered a dimly lit area through a rolling shutter door.
Although he didn’t know exactly what this place was, simply based on its vibe that screamed "secret base of an evil organization," Feng Xue instinctively felt that this was not good.
"I just hope the English pronunciation in this world is the same as back home..."
