Chapter 410: Chapter 410: Lucky Milk Is Really Useful

Although he wasn’t very clear at first, Feng Xue immediately understood upon hearing the example of Seth.

Many divine systems inherently conflict, especially the Cross Sect, which likes to take things from other pantheons and rebrand them; it’s a classic case.

Identity might change without much issue, but the underlying faith isn’t compatible, leading to the Cross Sect not recognizing the gods of Egypt. So fundamentally, this Seth and that Seth are unrelated.

The problem then lies in borrowing a name without acknowledging the setting, similar to how fanfiction often wildly diverges from the original work, causing frustration among the purists, just as certain issues arise in novels, not to mention when religious elements are involved.

Thus, for such situations, two settings perceived by the same individuals naturally come with inherent hostility, and an undying enmity wouldn’t be surprising.

Innate Kaidans, with their nature, will fully inherit their settings, and even if they adapt to new ones and shift a bit, their original settings never vanish.

Additionally, there are characters of differing origins that somehow become merged. These Kaidans with the same name but different origins might even resonate and influence each other, like Amun and Ra, who reside together. Perhaps one day upon waking up, there would only be one Amunra left.

"Who knows if in a few years, Amun will start wearing a monocle," Feng Xue couldn’t help but make a mischievous guess, then shivered and immediately shook off the strange thoughts from his mind, refocusing on the matter at hand.

Though Egypt loves to mix things up, similar issues exist worldwide. In Yan Country, there’s The Queen Mother and the Queen Mother of the West, Erlang God who ended up just the way he hated, the three-in-one deity Wen Chang Di Jun, and in Eastern Country, there’s the Seven Fortune Gods, an odd group where all but Ebisu are foreign; as for Rome, they’d just rename another’s gods for their own use.

But such issues on Kaidans clearly weren’t anything good. If it were an acquired Kaidan, it wouldn’t be too serious—a slight drop in strength, a lower efficiency in powers, but for an innate Kaidan, that meant they’d fight to the death upon every encounter, even without genuine animosity.

Not to mention even when deities from the same system meet. Surt encountering Thunder God Thor would result in the godly wit beating the canine wit—regardless if one of them was Miss Sakaz and the other just a dog.

"To bear the name means to take on its karma. It seems refraining from expanding the ’demon’ tag was indeed the right choice, otherwise Cain definitely wouldn’t be talking to me so politely."

Feng Xue shook his head and noted down this problem while reminding himself, "Neither fame nor tools should be falsely attributed."

Although it deviated somewhat from its original meaning, after some thought, it didn’t seem too far off.

"Who knows if I’ll encounter a Kaidan in the future that can’t be placed in the same ’folder’ as me." Feng Xue was grateful for Cain’s subtle reminder as he pushed the door open and walked inside, wondering if he should go for a swim in the bathhouse or play games in the game room. But as soon as the door opened, the scene before his eyes blurred...

"Damn?"

Looking at the quaint village before him, watching the peasants in their rough short clothes, and meeting those focused gazes, Feng Xue’s expression inadvertently darkened.

How did he time travel just like that?

Wait a second...

That bottle of milk!

Feng Xue suddenly remembered the bottle of Lucky Milk he had drunk earlier and confirmed that it indeed had a positive influence on door opening; otherwise, it made no sense for him to time travel merely by pushing open a door, considering he had just opened one a few months ago...

"Uh, wait a minute, I remember every ten floors higher, the property retains one more door, maybe the higher floors have a higher chance of opening?"

Feng Xue murmured to himself but then saw a rather sturdy man, holding a hoe, coming towards him, his voice laced with wariness:

"Who are you, and how did you come out of my house?"

"Ah, this..." Feng Xue’s expression turned darker, but without panic, he casually flicked his wrist, drawing a tattered thin blanket around him, and with great composure, expressed a soul-searching sound to the onlookers —

"Ah right, right, right."

The next moment, the previously curious, astonished, and vigilant gazes indignantly vanished as if Feng Xue’s presence no longer had any significance.

Seeing the "little blanket" work, Feng Xue immediately activated Hermit Power and subtly adjusted the clothing under the blanket to resemble the ancient style of the surrounding villagers. He then began walking down the street to investigate the situation.

The village wasn’t very large, but for ancient productivity, a village with a hundred or so households was nothing to scoff at.

Outside the village were meticulously tilled fields that looked set for a good harvest. However, as he wandered through the village on the well-trodden earthen paths, he realized things weren’t so simple.

In such a small village of a thousand people, there were a medical clinic, a blacksmith shop, and a tailor—all explainable by part-time work. But the existence of a tavern was outrageous!

Even more outrageous was the tavern’s menu, which offered soy-simmered beef and Daughter’s Red!

"Fuck!"

Even with his limited historical knowledge, Feng Xue knew how absurd this was, but after pondering, he got it.

For a historical-themed world, such a village would indeed be an exaggeration. But if it were a martial arts setting, then this configuration was just about right, if not a tad incomplete.

"If there was a storyteller who knew the affairs of the world and could turn last month’s events thousands of miles away into an anecdote, that would be the perfect setup."

At this thought, Feng Xue unconsciously recalled Old Li’s Yue Lai Inn, though he had no intention of opening an inn in this locale.

After some consideration, Feng Xue adjusted his Power, swapping his rough short clothes for a Heroic Robe he had seen in the tailor shop. He then walked into the tavern. Though unarmed, his attire immediately prompted the owner to approach him with a business-like smile, saying:

"Dear customer, what can I get for you?"

"Two kilograms of soy-simmered beef and a jar of Daughter’s Red," Feng Xue casually ordered the typical Martial World fare, and sure enough, the owner brought the Hero’s set meal without any surprise.

However, Feng Xue wasn’t there to dine; after a quick scan with Golden Finger confirmed the beef wasn’t a Pseudo Artifact nor an illusion, he relaxed. While eating and drinking, he activated the Heart of Bright Mirror and Still Water. Then he heard the thoughts of the owner —

"Alas, business has been slow lately. When will those fools come back..."
