Chapter 300: Chapter 300 The Ordinary High School Girl
"Has the time come?" Feng Xue awoke from his dormant state, looking at the scenery that had once again shifted to the bathroom of Yayuka’s house. He began to observe the state of the bathroom and saw the monster perched on the ceiling, licking it incessantly.
"Tch, it seems it’s really set its sights on the door!"
Feng Xue sighed, then opened a parcel cloth. After a bout of rummaging, he finally retrieved a tool he hadn’t used for a long time—a [Suspicious Cardboard Box].
In his inner strength form, he didn’t need to worry about being discovered. The main point this time was to take the illusion to the other side. Even if the [Hermit]’s power could cover it and conceal the illusion’s aura, a thing the size of a lychee floating in the air would still attract attention.
Hiding inside the cardboard box, Feng Xue observed the outside world through two small holes, moving forward with tiny steps. As that sensation of crossing barriers came over him, he once again returned to the real world.
"Yayuka and Rinko don’t seem to be around. Is this direction the school?" Sensing the message from the statement’s light point, Feng Xue lay within the box, continuing his dormancy. After all, the doors in this house were closed, and even with the cardboard box cover, the action of opening the door would still be noticed.
...
At school, Yayuka and Rinko finally rushed to the shop during lunchtime, embracing a massive haul of bread. In the midst of strange gazes, they found a bench and began the "big eater contest."
"Little Yuka, it seems like your appetite has decreased today?" Rinko said, gobbling down a fried noodle bun in a few bites, somewhat surprised by Yayuka’s slow movements.
Hearing this, Yayuka shook her head and said, "No, this is much more than my usual appetite!"
"Really?" Rinko and Yayuka chatted desultorily, but their attention wasn’t on the conversation. Instead, they subtly kept an eye on the tall Kaidan, about three stories high, every so often sticking its head into the windows beside the school building.
And then...
"Deliberately chose here, Yayuka didn’t object; she probably can’t see it."
"Choosing this place to eat lunch, Rinko indeed can’t see it."
Both had these thoughts simultaneously in their minds and completely ignored the claw-waving Kaidan, calmly dealing with the food in their hands. While the friends exchanged words, the two consciousnesses in the card box and transformation device in Rinko’s small bag achieved synchronization.
"Yayuka didn’t have any issues yesterday, right?"
The consciousness branch of the Body Replacement Gu Poison Body asked the consciousness branch of the Masked Rider Gu Poison Body. Hearing this, the Masked Rider seemed mildly surprised and said, "What problems could an ordinary high school girl have? Though, the house she lives in might be a haunted house, with some Kaidan coming and going."
"Eh?"
The Body Replacement consciousness was suddenly taken aback upon hearing this, immediately saying, "You call her ordinary? Even for my host, you still think she’s ordinary?"
"Yeah, quite an ordinary high school student; apart from having a good figure, there’s nothing particular to focus on, right?"
The Masked Rider consciousness body seemed unaware of the seriousness of the issue, responding rather plainly.
"I see!" The Body Replacement consciousness let out a long sigh, seeming to have an explanation for everything.
"No wonder there are so many coincidences around Yayuka, yet she hasn’t been dragged by the Hundred Tales for interrogation, turns out it’s not because of fishing!"
The Body Replacement consciousness did not know if it was relieved or resigned as it spoke, then withdrew its consciousness back...
...
Due to the real estate bubble of the 1970s, a large number of abandoned warehouses were left all over the Eastern Country. These lands were originally the territorial resources acquired by the big financial cliques and wealthy merchants. To not affect future development and sell at a good price, they often wouldn’t directly engage in development plans. Instead, they would use short construction periods and low-cost warehouse buildings to take possession of the land.
However, after the bubble burst, those warehouses became historical problems, either having little development value or being undeveloped by their original owners who were financially incapable. Over time, they slowly became secret bases for various large and small organizations.
Within a nondescript warehouse in a cluster of such warehouses at Chiba Port, there were various dazzling high-tech devices. A group of men and women in white lab coats moved back and forth between the devices, occasionally gathering in front of computers to quickly input sets of data.
Occasionally, some in white coats appeared to have nothing to do and lounged around, but as soon as the machinery beside them made a noise, they immediately returned to an extremely tense working state.
And among this group in white coats was one figure who stood out as somewhat out of place. He also wore a white lab coat and thick glasses. In terms of style, he seemed no different from the other busy figures, yet his unhurried temperament distinguished him from the frantic or lazy surroundings.
He constantly moved among a series of instruments, reviewing the experimental data above, sometimes suggesting modifications and sometimes jotting down new findings in his own notebook.
It was then that a young man, who wasn’t wearing a lab coat, came running up to him and whispered, "Mr. K, Mr. A’s communication."
"Understood." The man called Mr. K went along the passageway to an office sectioned off in the warehouse’s corner. After the secretary left again, he glanced at the letter "A" on the monitor and said, "It’s a critical period right now; what do you need?"
"Has the Face Stealing Kaidan element been analyzed?"
A cut to the chase, asking without any small talk. Hearing this question, K responded as if prepared, "We’ve dissected the surface elements and have made a few ’Face Stealing Cards,’ but there’s still a significant distance to the development of the second-generation transformation device."
Listening to K’s response, A didn’t seem surprised and merely continued, "And how’s the ’First Transformation Device’?"
"The basic analysis is complete, and the pure mechanical structure replication and archiving are done. We just need to modify the current process, but this structure only slightly improves the utilization of Kaidan cards.
"The true essence of the ’First Transformation Device’s transformation lies in those other two structures; if the principles within can be figured out, we will solve the problem of Kaidan element backflow and completely avoid the wasteful act of depleting a Kaidan card entirely with each transformation."
Upon reaching this point, K seemed a bit fired up. To this, A didn’t intend to interrupt and waited until he finished speaking before saying, "It’s good to have progress. Recently, the Heavenly Dog Council has started paying attention to game manufacturers; B’s production line might face stringent inspections."
"No need to worry about that; our technical design doesn’t differ from ordinary toys at the assembly stage. They won’t find anything. Rather than the production line, you should pay attention to the working condition of Artifact No. 3." K seemed quite confident about this point, causing A to feel relieved, "Since you say so, I’m reassured. As for Artifact No. 3, there’s no need to worry in the short term; the resources we have on hand can sustain it for five years."
