Chapter 131: Chapter 131: The Godly Abomination in the Mountains
The leader of the Slave Catching Team, with his subordinates in tow, arrived at the valley behind the village. Witnessing the roaring blaze, he felt not a hint of fear but rather a surge of intense joy.
He had been in the business of slave catching for several years and naturally had encountered all sorts of villages.
Generally speaking, if a settlement were discovered by slave catchers, its inhabitants would immediately choose to relocate. A portion of those no longer wishing to live on the run would stay and await enslavement, also buying time for the others.
The remaining people would take True Plant Seeds and most movable possessions and leave.
Besides this, the villagers wouldn’t do anything extra, because even delaying a minute could decrease their chances of escape. Conversely, if the opposition made any abnormal actions, it was very likely to hide something important.
"Search thoroughly, they must have set this fire for a reason..." the boss of the Slave Catching Team was about to shout commands when something flickered at the edge of his vision. Focusing his gaze, his face suddenly twisted into a somewhat perverse smile.
He saw a person, someone bursting out of the valley amidst the flames!
With his years of experience as a slave catcher, he knew for certain that the clothes on this person were none other than a Phantom Object!
"Catch him! Be careful, he might be an expert!"
At the leader’s command, his henchmen immediately pulled out slings, fishing nets, grappling hooks, and other items. It wasn’t their first day; they practiced most against experts on how to utilize their numerical advantage.
The tenacious fishing net might not have special powers, but it could effectively limit the enemy’s movement, while the sling could use readily available materials for widespread assault, and the grappling hooks—just thrown—could make the enemy hesitate.
Most importantly, these were all very cheap.
Because they were inexpensive, each person carried several sets, so even if the target destroyed them, they could quickly replace them.
Under this combo advantage, most targets would fall. And for those the trio couldn’t handle... wasn’t the boss there for a one-on-one showdown?
Only today, as the underlings had just set up their formation, their faces began to twist madly, because the mountain behind the fiery figure was suddenly forced apart by a massive arm.
Countless pieces of debris mixed with the flames and molten material rained down like meteors, followed by the twenty-meter tall Armored Giant forcing its way out from the mountain.
The originally rather handsome armor was now crawling with weird rust. The steel plate at its chest and abdomen looked as though it was torn open by some immense force, revealing a hideously large gaping hole.
Filthy black-purple liquid mixed with indescribable blood bubbles, eyeballs, innards, and many body parts unnamable in language, poured forth. Those blood and gore organs, upon reaching the ground, moved as if alive, wriggling forward.
...
Feng Xue, having barely emerged from the valley, eyed the group of post-apocalyptic beautiful girls blocking the way and wanted to trigger his "Ghostly Disappearance." But before he could grab the edge of his cloak, several of the nearest beautiful girls let out agonizing screams.
Their once delicate faces contorted, dark veins crawled across their faces. Accompanied by muffled pops, their eyeballs burst open one after another. Some even had their entire head explode into a burst of blood splatter.
"Damn, what kind of crap did that resurrection bring back?!" Feng Xue, witnessing the group of "beautiful girls" explode on the spot, realized that this likely had to do with the Mecha behind him that could still produce a beautiful girl from its dissected belly. His movements hastened.
"Qinggong, I need Qinggong! And flying would be the best!" Feng Xue cursed silently that his mother hadn’t given him an extra pair of legs as he had just escaped the sea of flames and immediately activated his vanishing skill to teleport away.
Unfortunately, the teleportation ability of Phantom of the Opera resembled more of a proxy than actual displacement; the paltry five-meter distance wasn’t even as fast as he could run on foot.
However, the vanishing skill did have its unique effects after all, at least Feng Xue managed to dodge those exploding post-apocalyptic beauties with it.
Yes, those beauties with their eyeballs and heads blown apart were, for some reason, beginning to squirm again, but this wasn’t some sort of corpse transformation or omen of doom—
At least in Feng Xue’s view, their names were still [Corpse], not a mosaic of twisted black balls.
"What the hell did you drag out here?"
While sprinting, Feng Xue suddenly heard a forceful woman’s voice. He glanced to the side and saw a red-haired beauty catching up with him, her voluptuous figure creating waves as she ran. However, Feng Xue had no interest in such distractions at the moment. Surprised by her question, he retorted:
"How come you didn’t get blown up?"
"Likewise! Why weren’t you?" The red-haired beauty rolled her eyes, somehow accelerating even more, keeping pace with Feng Xue, who was running with enhanced Inner Strength—
"If you have any clue, spit it out quickly; I’m part of the Slave Catching Team under ’Flying Cat,’ and I have plenty of ways to escape. If you want to be left behind, go ahead and keep hiding stuff!"
"The problem is I really don’t know anything; I’m just a scavenger, for god’s sake, who knows how I provoked this mess?!"
As soon as Feng Xue finished speaking, he suddenly leaped, narrowly avoiding a trip from the red-haired beauty.
"Tsck!" The red-haired beauty clicked her tongue in annoyance, but the next moment, she saw the man who had dodged her sneak attack pull out something from his pocket... a bar of soap?
"Don’t even think about harming others," Feng Xue said with a slight smile on his lips, as the red-haired beauty looked on in bewilderment. The soap in his hand silently slipped out and the moment it touched the ground, the red-haired beauty couldn’t help but bend over to pick it up.
...
Name: Phantom Object·Everyone Wants to Pick Up the Soap
Elements: [Tool], [Compulsion], [Conventional]
Description: An ordinary bar of soap, but when it falls to the ground, everyone can’t resist bending over to pick it up.
Note: Perhaps squatting would be a better choice...
...
Seeing the red-haired beauty bending over, Feng Xue immediately twisted his body and delivered a powerful kick to her shapely rear. As the lady clutching the soap rolled several meters away, Feng Xue glanced back at the Mecha beauties still gushing blood from their abdomens and once again started to run for his life.
"You bastard, don’t let me run into you again!" came the murderous roar from behind him, but Feng Xue just smiled and called back:
"First, see if you can stay alive!"
