Chapter 47: Way out
Shaan could only shake his head as he realized that the explosion was destroying the tunnel. Damn. The idea he thought would work had only made things worse inside the tunnel.
"It’s bad. This is bad. We need to tell Chelsie and Nalira about-"
"Hey Shaan, I hear something like an explosion from..." Chelsie opened the door, and her eyes widened instantly. "Oh my God, what’s going on? W- Why does the carriage at the back suddenly disappear?"
"Chelsie, calm down and don’t panic," Shaan said. "This is all because of my idea. I was the one who told Robin Hood to destroy that carriage with his arrow because Doppleshade was trapped there, Chelsie."
[That’s right, but the good news is that Doppleshade is finally dead.]
"Huh? What are you guys talking about?" Chelsie looked confused. "Didn’t you say earlier... Wait a minute. So you lied about that rat all this time?" She folded her arms, looking at Shaan with displeasure on her face. "Why don’t you tell me the truth?"
"Chelsie, please listen to me. I’ll explain everything if we can get out of here. But right now, look at that." Shaan pointed his finger, showing the tunnel beginning to collapse. "W-we need to tell Nalira about this right away."
"Oh my God... A-a-alright."
With hurried steps, they ran straight to the locomotive room and told Nalira about it. But when they opened the door to the room, they saw Nalira was directing the train to avoid all the debris that had started falling around the train.
’Oh my... The explosion’s effects have reached the front.’ Shaan’s face tightened as he saw the chunks of concrete already beginning to fall. ’Oh no, this is bad. I don’t think things are going to get messy like this at all.’
"Lira, the tunnel, the tunnel will soon-"
"Yes, I know, Elsie." Nalira nodded her head. "This train is too slow, and the only way to get out of here is to increase the speed of this train," she said, pulling the lever beside her. "You two, just hold on to something around you. Hurry up!"
"Nalira, what do you -"
Suddenly, a violent jolt shook the entire train. The shockwave was so strong that it flung Shaan and Chelsie out of the locomotive room. Shaan quickly grabbed onto one of the metal handles around him, trying not to get thrown off the train.
’Jeez... that was close.’ He exhaled sharply, his heart pounding. ’If I’d been even a second slower... I would’ve been gone.’
"Hey, you two. Are you okay?" Nalira shouted from inside the locomotive hall.
"Uhmm... yes, we’re fine, Lira," Chelsie called out, gripping tightly onto a steel pole inside the train.
"Hold on! Just a bit more—we’re almost out of here!" Nalira shouted from the locomotive.
Shaan’s heart beat faster as he realized the train’s speed was much faster than before. The wind howled through the tunnel, and the sound of crashing debris echoed around them. More and more debris was falling, making the atmosphere inside the train even more tense.
’Gosh, are we even going to make it out of here alive??’
"Elsie, how long do we have to be like this?" Chelsie frantically said. "My hands... they’re starting to give out. I can’t hold on much longer!"
"Just a little bit longer, we’re almost out of this tunnel. Just hold on, hold on."
As their carriage was about to exit the tunnel, a large boulder fell directly in front of the carriage. As Nalira realized it, she yanked the controls to the side. The train lurched violently. Screeching metal and sparks flew as the entire locomotive twisted off the rails and then flipped.

[Hey, Shaan.] Robin Hood patted Shaan’s face repeatedly. [Shaan, wake up. We need to find the whereabouts of the others.]
"Huh?" Shaan slowly opened his eyes, seeing Robin Hood’s face with a puzzled look on his face. "Wh-what... what exactly happened? Where are Chelsie and Nalira?"
[Thank goodness... you’re awake.] Robin Hood breathed a sigh of relief.
[I don’t know where the others are either, but it looks like they’re still somewhere in the carriage.]
"Then we should find them," Shaan said, slowly pushing himself up and sweeping the debris scattered around him. "Hurry up, they’ll need our help."
Wasting no time, Shaan began moving through the overturned train car, confident that the two girls were still inside. However, the tilted position of the carriage made it quite difficult to get around the carriage, so he chose to crawl to make his movements easier. crawl
"Chelsie!"
"Nalira!"
"Where are you?"
Shaan shouted their names over and over again, but there was no answer. Strange, where could they be? Perhaps they had already ....
"No, no, no." Shaan slapped his head, dispelling the negative thoughts in his mind. "This must be wrong. There’s no way they’ve already-"
Suddenly, a faint movement caught his attention, just below the pile of crates and debris scattered nearby. She rushed towards the source of the sound and quickly removed the heavy objects one by one.
"Oh my God, Chelsie!" Shaan quickly removed all the piles of objects from Chelsie’s body.
"Sh-shaan?" Chelsie weakly whispered and then fainted.
"Oh, no. Chelsie, hang in there. I’ll get you out of there."
After Shaan cleared away all the piles of goods, he quickly pulled the unconscious Chelsie out of the pile. He then carried Chelsie’s body and forcefully kicked one of the train windows until it broke.
"Come on, just a little more."
As Shaan carried Chelsie out of the carriage, someone’s hand appeared from outside, trying to pull her out of the carriage. Shaan didn’t know who it was at first, but after he saw that the figure was wearing a layered white skirt and black boots, he finally knew who it was. He immediately grabbed the hand and managed to get out of the carriage.
"Thank you for your help, Nalira."
"You’re welcome." Nalira nodded her head softly. "Chelsie... how is she?"
"Don’t worry. She’s fine," Shaan answered. "She just passed out. But we need to bring her somewhere safe until she wakes up."
"Alright... I agree," Nalira said. She slowly raised her finger and pointed toward a small cave nearby."There. What do you think? Maybe we can hide there for a while."
"Good choice, Nalira." Shaan nodded his head. "At least it’s a lot better than us being here." He looked up at the darkening red sky. "Besides, it looks like it’s going to rain soon, and we should hurry up and leave here." Shaan then went back to carrying the still-unconscious Chelsie. "Hurry up, then we should get there right now before it rains."
