Chapter 522: The Stranger

"Kiernan is nearing the eighty-meter mark. That has never been reached in the history of Junior Martial Arts Championships before!"

"It had been reached only three times before in the entire God Island history, and all three of those figures had become godly figures in the martial arts circle!"

The commentator shouted excitedly.

A history was about to be made!

However, at that moment, he was able to see from one of the screens that someone entered the arena, walking towards the road.

"E-eh? Who is that? Someone is making his way over to the Talent Road!"

The audience turned their gazes over to the man and frowned—if even the commentator didn’t know who it was, neither could they.

At the highest floor of the stadium, the mayor of God City stood up to his feet with a shocked gaze and walked to the window.

"What a scary energy. He has gone past the Martial Stage and is at least in the Immortal Stage... Why is such a scary individual here?

"I-I need to get the hell out of here!"

He jumped through the window and flew away.

"...Hmm?"

Kiernan looked over to the dark-eyed man—he was looking at him and was walking towards him—there was something off about him.

At that moment, Death Merchant grinned like a child in a candy shop—behind him, the shadows writhed and turned into the symbol of death.

’Death... Has come for me... I remember this feeling. I’ve only sensed this from one person before, and that was Death itself. This person has come from hell... He has come for me!’

Kiernan’s eyes shook violently.

At that moment, Death Merchant’s gaze landed into his eyes, and Kiernan felt like an invisible hand was grasping his heart.

It also felt like someone put their hands on his windpipe, crushing it shut like a wrench.

’M-My heart has stopped... I-I am dying.’

Kiernan gasped breathlessly, but then he stomped on the ground and lifted it up to hide behind the block of fake earth.

The feeling disappeared, and he was able to breathe again.

’M-my heart is beating again. It looks like if he has a clear view of a person, he can stop their hearts with nothing but a gaze.

’As long as I don’t let him look at me, I will be fine!’

The audience gasped and started screaming.

"This stranger is suddenly attacking Kiernan, one of the competitors. Where the hell are the guards, and why haven’t they stopped him?"

The commentator shouted.

At that moment, guards flew from the sky, swords in hands, and descended down towards the dark-haired man.

But then, Death Merchant turned his gaze to them and killed them instantly—while at it, he turned circles and looked across the audiences.

In the audience, people started dropping dead in thousands, and the screams turned into an absolute panic.

"Something horrible is happening in the Junior Martial Arts Championship! This stranger is killing everyone!"

Everywhere in the world, people watched in horror as the live broadcast captured the unfolding chaos, and they couldn’t understand how something like this was allowed.

God Island was one of the safest places in the world—an ordinary citizen there was strong enough to stop any evildoers from the outside world.

Thus, its guards were so immensely strong that even if the strongest countries sent their armies over here, they wouldn’t be able to harm a hair on its citizens’ heads.

Yet, this stranger, alone, was able to just waltz into the stadium and start killing everyone without anyone being able to stop him.

...

Nightingale, Abracadabra Castle.

It was silent as everyone processed what had just happened before pandemonium broke out.

The broadcast showed the audience just running to the exits, but they just kept dropping dead like flies whenever the stranger’s gaze fell on them.

"W-What is this? Z-Zeus is in danger!"

Nevaeh cried out, and the child in her arms started weeping as well, surprised by the sudden shout from her mother.

"...Mmh."

Bella bit her nails as she watched her son being right in front of the stranger and noticed that he just tried killing him.

"Kiernan... Just run. Please run..."

Karl-Michael picked up his phone and made a call.

"Send ships to the region where God Island is currently hovering."

"B-but, sir, the storms near the God Island are dangerous, and it is just getting worse and worse. The waves are so high there that our ships won’t be able to handle it all!"

"Make Arcanielago go there. He has the power of the sea on his side. He’ll be able to calm those seas!"

"Y-Yes, sir!"

Karl-Michael ended the phone call and looked at the screen with a serious gaze.

"F-Father, you must go get Zeus back. He is in danger!"

Nevaeh begged, her eyes tearing up.

"I would, daughter, if I could. It’ll take me three days alone to get there with the fastest ship."

Karl-Michael said with a pained gaze.

...

Death Merchant stopped looking at the audience, snapped his head towards Kiernan, and pointed his finger towards him.

With a pull of his thumb, a black bullet shot out of his finger with the thunderous sound of a bang.

"?!"

Kiernan heard the sound and rolled to the side—the bullet pierced through the block of fake earth and flew past him.

’That bullet, if it had landed, would’ve killed me a thousand times over!’

Death Merchant lowered his hand and then turned to look at the other representatives—they were all shaking and shocked.

With his cold gaze, their hearts stopped.

"A-Aargh!"

Zeus clutched his chest, blood drained from his face, and he collapsed down on one knee.

"Ah... ah..."

Sun and Seo collapsed on the ground, writhing in agony.

"Tch!"

Kiernan picked up the block of fake earth and moved between the Death Merchant and the agony-filled representatives.

He blocked the Death Merchant’s view of them, and their hearts resumed their beating cycle.

"Run! Quickly! If you keep hidden from his field of vision, his gaze won’t hurt you, so leave as quickly as possible!"

Kiernan screamed.

The representatives nodded with shaky looks and turned around to run away—they all quickly left.
