Chapter 258 – Soundless Echo

If this was his way of missing her, she did not mind it to be honest. She loved it and she yearned for more.

Before long she reciprocated all that he gave, allowing her fingers to slide up on his chest as she pushed against him for more of his touch.

Lips remained intertwined, hands touching and making marks on their skins while the husband and wife relished the moment.

Minutes later, Vidor pulled back, keeping his intense gaze fixed on Era.

"I told you I missed you," he breathed heavily and gulped hard when she bit down on her lips.

"And I..." Era exhaled sharply and slid her right hand across his chest to his neck. "Missed you more than you know it or I can explain."

Vidor proceeded to wrap his hands around her waist, not letting her go even for a split minute.

"Who needs the sweet remembrance of words when actions can prove all that we desire in our hearts, hmm?"

He wanted Era not to question the fact that he loves her and missed her ever again. It was too important for him to let it slide.

"I want to imprint my name on the back of your mind, Era, so you know that your husband yearns for you, your touch, your love, and your body."

He watched her through his lashes and licked his lips when her cleavage came into his view.

"Every inch of you."

"Then let your actions shower me with your love," she boldly requested to Vidor’s shock.

Ignoring what may have been, Era wrapped her hands around his neck and snaked her left into his hair as she guided his head down to her.

Immediately their lips met, she sucked in a deep breath and dove her tongue into his mouth.

"Prove it," she managed to get out and let reason fly out the window.

As far as that day was concerned, Vidor had feelings for his wife.

He showered her body with kisses as they both got out of their clothes in a hurry and got into bed to explore more.

Just like his promise, he refrained from entering her as he should but neither did he allow her brain and mind rest as well.

Vidor ate her up and drank of her love juice, sucking on her nipples like a babe missing its mother and bringing her over the edge countless times as though he just figured out a discovery and was eager to keep trying it.

Both parties breathed out, too exhausted to continue their activities.

By the time Vidor looked up at the window he was shocked to see how far the day had gone while they indulged in their carnal desires.

However, the smile of pleasure and satisfaction never left his face as he scooted closer to his darling wife and hugged her small frame in his arms.

"I may have done things wrong when we first met and with the successive days that followed. But I promise you, I’ll always protect you."

Her eyes moved in their sockets as she drifted back to sleep with his words lingering in her ears.

Deep in the dead of the night, a pair of eyes snapped open as the surrounding air suddenly became chilly.

A soundless echo to things she did not know.

Suddenly wailing sounds reverberated all around her and when she looked again, dead bodies outlined the path in front of her.

Burned houses, broken buildings, and blood splattered everywhere. Bodiless heads and headless bodies were all used to decorate the snowy grounds.

She recognized this scene. She knew the uniform on some of the dead bodies littered around.

Her lips quivered but it wasn’t from the cold. Rather the sight brought back memories she wished had not been.

Taking a step forward, her eyes searched around for any survivor.

"Hello?! Anyone alive?" Her shaky voice rang out with no sound returning to her.

"No. Not again," she muttered, shaking her head as she took more steps forward to one of the complete bodies on the ground.

Just as she reached out to touch it, the scene before her suddenly changed, bringing her to a much darker place like a dungeon.

She blinked, trying to make sense of the sight before. In the end, the only thing she picked from it was the soft whimper of a lady, crying her heart away.

"Hello?"

Another trial but as soon as her voice went out everywhere felt silent.

"Anyone here?" Suddenly a bright light shine to her left in what seemed like a tunnel.

As if on cue her feet moved in their own, running in that direction when suddenly the scene changed and she was standing right in Meribia’s palace.

Her feet stopped running. Her eyes turned into a terror on their own as the headless bodies of the ones she had come to love and grow up with lay before her.

"No..." Her voice broke as the sound coming out of her lips mirrored the ones she had heard a few moments back.

"I..."

Immediately everything began to change, with several scenes displaying before her in a flash, leaving her head in a torrential mess.

"No!"

A pair of shock-filled eyes flew open as the body of the owner rose into an abrupt sitting position in the thick darkness.

Her chest rose and fell with each successive rapid heartbeat.

Suddenly she heard the sound of footsteps racing to her room as the doors pushed back with a force that she was sure would shake the very foundations of the house.

"Ora! Are you okay?!"

Her gaze softened seeing the familiar silhouette of the one her heart had gone out to and the tears she did not know had threatened to break free moments back, suddenly spilled out, flowing down her cheeks.

"Gabriel," her voice broke just like how it had done in her dream.

"Ora," he called out softly and bridged the gap between them as he pulled her body in for a comforting hug.
