Chapter 241 – Fear and Excitement.

A pure smile added to her already enchanting beauty, making her one die for. As she stared at her reflection in the mirror.

"Please, your majesty, come and check your full view. So, we can see if there is any other thing we need to do," Aeverie quickly informed.

"No, Aeverie. I love it this way. Do not make any corrections whatsoever. Hahaha, I can only imagine, what Vidor would say. Thank you."

"Alright, your majesty. However, there is one more thing we must add," Era’s brows kneaded.

"Again? But I said I was okay."

"And I heard you. However, there is something that is a must. His majesty’s orders," Aeverie quickly added.

She eyed her Lady Royal suspiciously before letting out a sigh of defeat. "Since Vidor wants it, then who am I to refuse?"

"You can refuse though, but that would mean me ruining his surprise and I would go in for it," Aeverie reminded her.

"Yes, hehehe," she giggled at her words. It was true Vidor would not let her go scot-free after what she did. Nope. She would suffer one way or the other. "I wonder what surprise he has. Is it a garden dinner perhaps?"

"That I cannot say. We have no idea. All we know is that we were tasked with getting you dressed up so he can take a walk with you, as his queen," Aeverie hinted.

But being who Era was, she did not grasp anything about Vidor’s plans and thought it was like his previous breakfast outing they had which changed their lives to date.

And honestly, she was getting giddy all over thinking about his plans and actions and how much she was going to love it, to be bothered by what his true motives were.

Just like that, Aeverie picked up the red slim satin material and handed it to Era. "Your majesty, if you would do the honours."

"Alright."

Once she was done tying it over her eyes, she stood up and smiled. "Be my guide."

"Yes your majesty," they chorused and together all four of them walked out of the room, guiding Era along with the path to where the king was.

On the other hand, Vidor got ready in one of his ceremonial wear while exuding the warmth of royalty and dignity.

He gazed into the mirror but there was no smile on his face as he watched his reflection. All though, he had one thought in his mind. And that was if Era was going to love the way he was dressed.

Would she think it was too much or not?

Sensing his trouble, Evans walked towards him and bowed his head before him. "Your majesty, what troubles you?"

He cleared his throat and took in a deep breath. "Honestly, many things."

"Care to share to lighten your burden?" Evans asked.

"Umm." He turned to face him and ordered the other servants to leave. As soon as the door closed behind them, leaving just himself, Evans and Jordan in the room, he let down his worry on them.

"I am worried."

"About?" Evans pushed, trying to make him speak.

"Whether or not, her majesty would like his arrangements, right?" Jordan asked.

He gave a slight nod and walked away from them. "She did not want this," he explained. "And I do not know if giving this burden to her is worth it? She has been through enough already. Now, I am making her a target and it scares me."

"Your majesty, you should know her better than this. She may look fragile but I believe her majesty is brilliant and tough," Jordan advised.

Both Vidor and Evans looked at him with not too much hope in their eyes. This was a battle in a kingdom and they had enemies in and out.

Without being told, they expected Jordan to know this was no battle for a lady.

"No. I think you two are underestimating her majesty. She has the ability to pull people to her side. Also, it was because of her, that I gave in and came here your majesty. She changed me. I believe that with her ideas and heart, she can change Etheria and correct the wrong ways of the people."

"Hmm."

Evans nodded at his words. "Spoken well. If I go by what you have said, then I believe she is what his majesty needs to make Etheria better and correct the ways of the bad ministers and Lords."

Just listening to them speak of his wife that way, Vidor shook his head. They had insight more than he did. Of course, he did not doubt her capabilities but instead, he was scared for her safety.

"She has you, your majesty. Do not be scared for her life and protect her instead. She was born to rule with you, by your side as your queen. What better time than now to enforce that rule and let her get the respect she deserves."

Vidor smiled and nodded his head, before turning around and walking to where Jordan stood. "Jordan, if I did not know better, I would say you know more about my wife than I seem to know. Come."

Gulp!

As much as he did not know much about Era, he knew the one secret she hid that even he as her husband did not know.

Besides, they both suffered in his hands and she reached out to him. Ever since then, he felt connected to her. As much as Vidor refused him from seeing her, he always snuck around to find things about her.

"Umm, your majesty, I do not know much about her majesty," Jordan lied."

From the look of things and the way your brows are arching up, I believe you know something that I do not."

He tensed, unable to take another breath in the presence of Vidor’s fierce composure. "I have ruled for over twenty years, Jordan," his deep voice continued. "I have battled so many wars, seen the deception in the eyes of so many kings and generals. I can sense it when a man is lying."
