Marrying A Tyrant To Save The Kingdom
Chapter 213: Cold Era

Chapter 213: Cold Era

*************

Chapter 211

If only Era knew what he had in his mind, she would not be this way.

Regardless, he also saw it as a future way to tease the life out of her later when she finally admits to loving him.

"Okay. So, what do you suggest? Pardon me, I may not be at my best today but I would do my best to be present mind and body."

"No worries. If you are not up for it, I would just take my leave then."

"No. We cannot delay the inevitable. Vidor may have done a little bit of clipping for Caspian’s wings, doesn’t mean that he would not strike again."

"Yes. And we also have the matter of looking things up to how your kingdom’s annihilation happened," Damian added.

"Sure." She placed her hand on her thigh, balling it into a fist by her side. She never planned on letting those who hurt her go scot-free. No. They were going to pay, no matter what.

"From the look f things, they had an onside man in your father’s court. I know this may seem hard to believe," Damian took a pause to study her facial expression.

She looked calm, save for the fact that she dimmed her eyes even more at him. "Go on."

"But I want you to understand, your majesty, this is important. Your father had snitches. If not there would have been no way in hell that they would get hold of his seal to send that letter. It is either that, or he did it himself."

"My father never did that and he never would have, no matter what!" Her voice rose up high, so much that it almost felt like it came out from someone else but he could see the rage burn deep within her.

She was mad!

"He never would have done such a thing. Even on the verge of death, he willingly gave me up to honour a past treaty just to save the kingdom. He always fought for peace and that was his goal. He would not anger Vidor, knowing full well that I was at his court and would have been the first one to be killed by him."

"And yet again, Vidor never did kill you." Damian hinted.

He was throwing possible light to her that perhaps, the king had begun falling for her, way longer than anyone had expected or even noticed.

"Hmm, yes. I do not know why. Maybe he felt it was going to be the best form of torture. He said so himself. His goal was to torture the life out of me by leaving me in anguish while I watch what happened to my people."

"If there is one thing Vidor hates, it is betrayal. It is treason. He had honoured the pact with your people and taken you as his queen. Something we all wondered if was going to ever be possible. Your enemies knew this would hurt him and so they made your father the scapegoat."

"I hope they have enjoyed the fun and merriment of their victory because when I act, I would make them an even bigger scapegoat. The kingdom would know not to mess or touch my loved ones."

"Good. I love the fire I see in your eyes, your majesty. I thought his majesty had downed it out with his love."

"Whether or not I will be with him, it would not change the pain and ache. He was a pawn as well and I blame him for not thoroughly investigating but the masterminds," she let out a peal of wicked laughter allowing her lips to pull to the side and revealed a set of teeth.

"The others, they would wish for a quick death, but I would visit the torture and pain of my people on them, giving them things worse than death."

The coldness he saw in those eyes of hers, mirrored, if not worst than what Vidor always portrayed before she came into his life and for a minute there, Damian got scared.

He never would want or wish that in the course of her revenge, she loses herself and her heart to power and hate and lose touch with the life in her.

"Do not worry your grace. You have us with you. Lord Kale and I, with a few others that have sown interest in supporting you, would stand by you."

"Okay." She shut her eyes briefly and when she reopened them, no longer were they downed coldness, but her caring self came back.

"I would love to meet them one of these days."

"Okay. For now, no. I and Kale, we are trying to put them to a test and see if they are trustworthy."

"Alright. I understand. So, what is our first step? Now I cannot send people to Meribia to investigate. So, all we can do is start from here."

"No worries your majesty. We would start from anywhere."

"Another suggestion though."

"Yes?"

"Since Lord Caspian had just been recently moved, why not give him a change of servant?"

"Hmm, that may be hard but, I think we can work our way around it. I would keep his servant here to serve one of our ministers and then get him someone else. We would use the logic of his position for that."

"Good. Send in a trustworthy, suitable spy. If he gets caught, I would not forgive him."

"Worry not, your grace, it would be one of my self-rained spies," Damian assured her.

"Thank you."

"Okay, I would have that sorted out and get back to you on the next course of action. Also, we would ransack his old residence, there must be something pointing us to something there."

"Good. Thanks for that."

"Yes, your majesty. I need to take my leave. I still have some matters to attend to." He stood to his feet and lightly bowed his head before her. "Until later, your grace."

"Thank you, Lord Damian. You are truly a blessing."

He lifted his head and took his leave by himself and after which Arya returned.
