The assurance he gave her not only made her more confident but filled her heart with love and hope.

Right now Era could only lower her head as they stood up and left the garden hand in hand.

She wanted to pull away but Vidor was not having it. He wanted the world to know she was his queen and she held his affection.

"So, what are you going to do today?" Vidor asked out of the blue.

She threw her head up in shock, before shifting her gaze to the side to look at him. "Uhh..."

"I know. I would answer for you."

"You will?"

"Yes, silly." He poked her nose a bit, letting out a light chuckle at how funny she looked. "You are not going to your study to work. Work is for those still living," he noted.

"Huh, I am still living," Era voiced out without a second thought.

She did not know what her king was thinking but she needed to remind him, she did not die with her family.

"I know. I mean, you need to rest. You are going to your chambers for a nice rest. It is already noon. You need to sleep."

"But I am fine," Era protested while pouting her lips at him.

"Like this?" He arched a brow at her. And even though the conversation seemed pleasant, it wasn’t at the moment for Vidor cause the look on his face gave her the chills.

"Huh?"

"Yes. I do not want people seeing you covered in that." He pointed at her neck, leaving her wondering what he was on about.

"They are for my eyes only. If not that you being stubborn, I would have had you stay in my chambers today. So I can see."

"See what?" Era asked innocently.

Now both his brows were raised at her. Did she not get what he meant all this while? Not feeling the need to argue or explain, he pointed at a spot on her neck.

FYI that was his most recent attack. On her skin before they left.

He endeavored to leave a mark on her neck when he could steal her kisses.

And now that they were going, she had four visible hickeys on her neck.

It was a good thing that all the kisses he stole from her were not a damn killing make-out session, else he would have enjoyed leaving her whole neck filled with lovebites.

"No need. When you go back for a bath, you would see it."

"Bath?"

"Yes."

"Wait, I should have a bath in your chambers?" Era asked, her eyes going wild for a second there.

"Yes... No. I mean no. Not that I would have minded though. It would have been nice to have a bath together."

"Okay." She pushed away from his arm, but Vidor was well prepared, and rather than letting her go, he wrapped his hands around her waist and held her in place.

"You are my wife, Era."

"Yes but you are going far. These things take time." She had expected him to lash out at her and gulped when she saw the dead coldness in his eyes. "Time," she repeated.

He heaved out a sigh, the coldness in his eyes relaxing a bit. "Fine. At least you are saying it takes time."

"Yes," she added again.

"It simply means that you, my queen, have decided you would let me in. You would allow me to have you."

Now it was even more visible with how close they were. She could feel the heat emanating from their bodies and knew she was in for some important business.

"Umm..."

"You would allow me to make love to you?"

"Well..." she still hesitated and wondered how she was going to get out of this one with him.

"Huh, Era? You would allow your husband to love you as you should be as a woman?"

Her lips remained shut. By now they had succeeded in walking close to one of the fences close to the palace and Vidor took this opportunity to kiss her again, hidden from all eyes.

However before his lips latched unto her own, Era pushed his away from her body the second she felt his grip loosen and stepped back.

Sadly she was not well aware of her environment and when she took a couple of steps back, her back touched the wall and she gulped again.

This was just like their first night when they got married.

A sinister smile appeared on his face as he relived an experience that had haunted him a bit before.

He turned in her direction fully, slowly dropping his legs against the ground, like a predator cornering his prey and wanting the fear of the prey to be revealed.

"Umm, your majesty, please this is... We are outside," Era tried to reason, swallowing and biting her words.

"Really? Another strike, my empress. You are breaking the rule, Era." He took two more slow steps in her direction.

It wasn’t like last time though when her fear ate her up and she yelled at him to leave her.

This time she was not as scared, just worried that he would not stop and sad that her body would betray her and give in to his whims.

She was going to indulge him in his kisses. She knew that was a fact but was it a fun fact for her?

Soon enough his cold voice broke her from her train of thoughts and all she knew was that her king, was already standing face to face with her.

He hooked a finger underneath her jaw and lifted her face. With how close their eyes and bodies were, Era could hear the heavy thudding of her heart against her chest and felt her eardrums were going to explode any second soon.

Now not only did it not explode, if it did she would not have heard as his chaste sweet yet overwhelming kiss, drowned all the sound around her and brought her focus to him.
