Chapter 95: Blood and Goodbye

Lirian’s legs were shaking, her chest rising and falling with breaths.

But she couldn’t stop fighting.

Not with Lucius still standing.

Across from her, her father adjusted his sleeves, his pristine white tunic stained with blood—not his own, but hers.

His face remained calm, but his glaring eyes looked with something darker.

Amusement.

Satisfaction.

And something else.

Regret?

No, that wasn’t possible. Not him.

He lifted his sword, twirling it effortlessly in his grip.

"You always were stubborn, Lirian," he mused, his voice sounded as smooth as ever. "But you’ve grown into such a... troublesome girl."

Lirian wiped the blood from her lips, glaring at him with pure hatred.

"You mean I learned to fight back?"

Lucius sighed, shaking his head.

"And yet, it still won’t change your fate."

With blinding speed, he attacked.

Lirian barely had time to react before his blade slashed toward her throat.

She twisted, dodging by a hair’s breadth, the force of the strike cutting through the air where she had been standing.

She countered, channeling her mana into her palm.

Golden butterflies burst forth, sharp as daggers, slicing through the space between them—

But Lucius was faster.

With his wrist, he sent out a vibration of earth magic, shattering the incoming butterflies into glowing dust.

Lirian gritted her teeth. He was toying with her. Like always.

"You should have accepted your place," Lucius continued. "You wouldn’t have had to suffer like this."

Lirian lunged again, aiming for his ribs—

He sidestepped effortlessly, knocking her attack away with his blade.

She barely had time to block before he came at her again, his strikes sharper, faster. Merciless.

"You were meant to be used, Lirian," Lucius murmured between blows, his sword clashing against her mana.

"You were never meant to be free."

Lirian’s vision blurred from the pain, but she forced herself to hold on.

"I wasn’t meant to be yours!" she spat.

She channeled every ounce of mana she had left, summoning a swarm of golden butterflies that swirled around her, blades sharp, glowing with raw power.

Lucius hesitated, his eyebrows raised a little.

Lirian saw it.

For the first time—uncertainty.

But before she could strike—

A terrible, inhuman screech came from behind them.

The chamber shook.

The air grew heavy, suffocating.

No.

Lirian’s stomach dropped as she turned her head—

And watched in horror as the demon rose again.

The darkness that had been vanquished just moments ago twisted together, growing, morphing, reforming.

But this time, it was stronger, its body more solid, its eyes burning with renewed hunger.

It was reborn.

Lucius smiled.

"Ah. Right on time."

Lirian’s blood ran cold.

She turned back to her father, whose golden eyes were filled with something dark, something monstrous.

Then—

Lucius snapped his fingers.

A flick of magic ripped the front of her already torn dress, exposing her bare shoulders, the remains of her clothing fell away in shreds.

Lirian gasped, stepping back in horror.

"What did you-?"

Lucius gripped her by the wrist, yanking her forward.

"She is yours," he announced to the demon, his voice so smooth, calm. "Take her."

The demon lurched forward, its gaping mouth stretched impossibly wide.

NO!

Lirian struggled, kicking, thrashing, but Lucius’s grip was ironclad.

The demon loomed over her, its massive claws reaching out—

But before it could touch her, a sword pierced through Meylo’s chest.

The possessed man choked, his body stiffening.

A roar of agony tore from his throat as the blade sliced through his heart.

Gabriel stood behind him, expressionless, his blade buried deep in Meylo’s back.

"Meylo," Lucius murmured, blinking in mild surprise.

Gabriel twisted the sword, his voice sounded as cold snow, devoid of mercy. "Burn in hell."

Meylo’s eyes rolled back, and his body collapsed.

The demon screamed in fury, its form moved slightly—

Lucius cursed, shoving Lirian away as Gabriel charged him.

But Lirian didn’t fall.

She caught herself, her mana flared back to life.

Lucius’s eyes snapped toward her.

For the first time—he looked afraid.

"Lirian," he started, his voice almost... pleading.

But she didn’t care.

"You never saw me as your daughter," she whispered, her hands trembled as a storm of golden butterflies swirled around her.

Lucius’s lips parted, something flashed in his gaze—

Regret.

Real regret.

"You were meant to be more," he murmured, almost... broken.

Lirian’s heart twisted.

But it was too late.

The butterflies swarmed him, cutting deep, slashing through flesh, through bone.

"Lirian! My children! Help! Lirian! Stop!"

Lucius let out a strangled gasp, stumbling back, he locked his eyes onto hers.

His hands reached out—toward her.

For the first time in her life here—he looked at her not as a weapon, not as an experiment, but as his daughter.

His lips parted, his voice was like a slow whisper.

"Lirian..."

Then—

The butterflies tore him apart.

Lucius collapsed, his once-so prideful body reduced to blood and silence.

Lirian stood over him, her chest heaved, she was out of breath.

Somehow, she expected relief.

She expected satisfaction.

But all she felt was emptiness.

A deep, aching void in her chest.

Lucius had been a monster.

But in the end...

He had still been her father in this world.

Her hands trembled.

Gabriel reached for her, but before he could—

A sudden, terrible stillness filled the chamber.

Lirian’s eyes widened as she felt it—

A shift.

A horrible, consuming darkness.

Raphael staggered.

His fingers clawed at his throat, his body jerked violently.

His eyes—

They turned black.

"No," Gabriel breathed.

Lirian’s stomach dropped once more.

"Ra-Raphael?" Gabriel stuttered, not being able to understand what was happening to his cousin.

"Rap-Raphael?" Lirian also called out for him.

"Kael, do something! Help him! Don’t let the demon take Raphael! Quick!"

But as Kael was ready to summon his magic, he stopped, looking at everything in front of him.

"Aaaaaah...." Raphael let out a sharp, inhuman breath.

Then—

He lifted his head, his lips formed into a slow, evil smile.

The demon had found a new vessel.

And this time—

It had chosen Raphael.
