Chapter 66: Burnt Alive.
"Is our Luna scared?" Lia asked with a smile.
Was she scared? A little bit, but she feels like this scene looks familiar. But Aria knew she had never been in this type of situation before, so why did it feel so familiar, as if she had been in this exact situation before?
Teira walked forward and said, "The strongest wolf in a pack becomes the Alpha, and the same goes for a Luna, but yet, we are supposed to bow down to a woman who doesn’t even have a wolf? At least, Eva was an Alpha daughter."
"I think you are crossing a line, Teira." Nyla said. She looked at Aria and said, "I’m sorry, she overheard me when I was discussing with Tyler; I really did not want this to happen."
"I agree with Nyla. Disrespecting our Luna is the same as disrespecting Alpha Tristan, and none of us will stand for that." Floyd replied. If only Derek were here, then this nonsense wouldn’t be happening. Where is that idiot when you need him? He knew something was off with Aria’s smell but he never expected her to not have a wolf. A Luna without a wolf is truly unheard of but still..... she was still their Alpha’s wife and should be respected as much.
Luckily, the people present were just ten so it is impossible for things to go out of control.
"You are all exaggerating. Teira just wants a friendly duel with Luna Aria. You speak as if Tristan doesn’t duel with us; it’s no big deal. Or could it be that you are all scared to see that our Luna will be humiliated? What do you think, Aria? Will you accept Teira’s challenge or will you reject it?" Lia said, provoking Aria.
Aria knew she was being provoked, but as long as she had Tristan pendant on her, then she could not be harmed. Even with all this thought, Aria looked at Teira and replied, "I reject this duel."
There was no reason for her to get into a meaningless fight. Without another word, she turned to leave.
A snarl ripped through the air. In an instant, Teira lunged at her, claws extended. But just before her hand could strike, a shimmering barrier flared to life around Aria. Teira’s attack stopped midair, her claws unable to break through.
Teira’s eyes widened as they landed on the black pendant around Aria’s neck. She recoiled. "You came here with a witch’s protection?"
Aria frowned. "Excuse me?"
Teira pointed at her. "That pendant must be a magical artifact! You don’t have a wolf, so you rely on witchcraft to keep yourself safe. And now we’re supposed to accept a Luna who hides behind magic? What if she’s a spy for the witches?"
While Teira was saying all this, Aria’s head started to hurt, and she could see flashes of memory invading her head.
She saw the blonde lady named Kieran and other wolves gathered as she said to her, "Since you have decided to clinged to Delvin, then why don’t we have a duel to see which of us is capable of being this pack Luna. Will it be a lowly Omega who has lost her wolf or will it be the daughter of an Alpha?"
Aitana trembled in fear as the crowd mocked her, and the moment she rejected the duel, they started stoning her.
Aria fell to the ground with a shout, feeling the pain of being stoned.
Lia scoffed and said, "It’s alright if you are scared of fighting Teira, but you don’t need to put on this drama. By doing this; you are humiliating yourself and Tristan."
While Lia spoke, more flashes invaded Aria’s memory, and she saw a man who had blue eyes and white hair.
’Aitana.’ The man murmured, caressing her cheek.
Aitana forcefully slapped his hand away from her face, making him chuckled.
’So beautiful. The perfect pawn needed for me to get Delvin. He will do anything for you. It’s funny how a man that powerful was given a weak and frail woman as a mate. It’s a shame that you are actually his death sentence."
’Let me go. Please.’
Aitana begged.’Not yet, Aitana.’ The man replied. He looked at her with a certain kind of warmth and said "If only you weren’t his only weakness, then I would never have even thought of harming you, but do not worry, Aitana. Through my bite, I will give you a fragment of my powers and after I have absorbed Delvin power, I will keep you by side and you shall be mine." With those words, his fangs sank deep into her neck, causing a painful scream to leave her mouth.
Teira smirked as she saw Aria trembling with fear. "So this is what our Luna is made of? Nothing but a disgrace," she sneered before shifting into her wolf. Without hesitation, she lunged at Aria, ready to injure her just as Lia had instructed.
Aria could feel the pain of being bitten and stoned and as Teira closed in, the mysterious pendant suddenly appeared around Aria’s neck again. A sharp scream escaped her lips as she opened her eyes, which were now glowing, just in time to see the wolf charging at her.
In an instant, flames erupted, consuming Teira’s wolf. A piercing scream echoed through the training grounds as she shifted back into human form—naked, severely burned, and writhing in pain.
Aria unconsciously collapsed to the ground, and everyone else stood in shock.
Lia ran to Teira’s burnt body and flinched when she touched her; it was so hot, as if still on fire.
"What’s going on here!"
A man stormed onto the training grounds, his sharp gaze first landing on Aria’s unconscious form—then on the lifeless body before him.
"Derek," Lia whispered, her voice shaking. "I... I think she’s dead."
"What?" Derek ran to check on Teira body and despite how hot and badly burned her body was, he check her pulse and indeed, there was no sign of life. She was dead, but how?
"I think the Luna is not alright." Nyla called Derek’s attention as she checked on Aria. The girl was burning, and it doesn’t look like a normal fever.
"What happened? I was only gone for thirty minutes!" Derek demanded.
Nyla was still terrified looking at Teira’s roasted body but said, "It’s all Lia’s fault. She instigated Teira into picking a fight with the Luna, and now...I don’t know how she did that!"
"The Alpha is going to pissed, and this is all your fault, Lia." Floyd accused.
Even Lia was too stunned to speak. Teira was burnt alive right in front of her, and there was nothing she could do. Her gaze moved to Aria’s unconscious body, and she thought to herself that there was no way Aria was a wolf. A wolf can’t burn another wolf just by looking at them; perhaps she is a witch pretending to be a wolf and has deceived everyone, including Tristan. If that is truly the case, then not only can she remove Aria from Tristan’s life, but she can also have her executed for killing another wolf.
