Chapter 59: Chapter 59 His Gift_1

Gu Xinran was thrown into the car at the back. Mr. Gu and Mrs. Gu saw Qi Cheng and Ji Yunhuan onto the car at the front. Before getting into the car, Ji Yunhuan couldn’t help but glance at Mr. Gu, and found that he was staring at her.

How could she not understand?

With Qi Cheng there, Mr. Gu couldn’t mention it.

But Mr. Gu’s heart must have been burning with anxiety, especially fearing that she would hand over the thing that could destroy him.

Actually, Ji Yunhuan also found it somewhat laughable. They trusted her words without even seeing the item. This showed just how guilty Mr. Gu felt internally.

They arrived at a warm restaurant. Wen Nuan was also there today, her face heavy until she saw Ji Yunhuan walking in. Beside her was a tall, handsome man. Even those who didn’t know Qi Cheng were deeply impressed by his presence.

Ji Yunhuan didn’t know which nerve was wrong with him today; he insisted on following her.

Hearing that Ji Yunhuan brought Gu Xinran to apologize, Wen Nuan was very surprised, "How did you manage that? She’s the eldest daughter of the Gu Family."

Soon enough, the eldest daughter of the Gu Family was brought in, looking disheveled, with two bodyguards beside her, resembling a prisoner being escorted.

Qi Cheng sat in a nearby seat. The restaurant staff served him coffee. He glanced at it but didn’t touch it because it wasn’t a flavor he liked.

Wen Nuan secretly asked Ji Yunhuan, "Who is he...?"

"My husband." Since he had come, Ji Yunhuan saw no need to hide it.

This made Wen Nuan widen her eyes, "Are you kidding me? What about Gu Yubai?"

"We broke up a long time ago." Ji Yunhuan took a wedding invitation out of her bag, "Here is the wedding invitation. The wedding is next month."

Ji Yunhuan didn’t have many friends to think of. Relatives from the Ji Family disappeared without a trace after her father’s accident. Even if there were some familial relations, they had long since lost contact. She naturally did not count on them in times like these.

The invitation was just given to her by Qi Cheng in the car. It wasn’t until she saw it that she realized she was really getting married.

Wen Nuan stole a glance at Qi Cheng, "This man doesn’t seem any worse than Gu Yubai!"

Ji Yunhuan followed her gaze. How could it be just not worse? In his words, how could Gu Yubai even compare?

But...

Gu Yubai had the effect of a public figure and often appeared on TV, making him seem more mysterious.

Ji Yunhuan didn’t seriously introduce Qi Cheng, only saying: "He does business."

Although Mr. Qi was a famous name, not many knew it referred to Qi Cheng.

Wen Nuan naturally didn’t think in that direction.

Ji Yunhuan chatted briefly with Wen Nuan and then decided to leave. She was afraid that Qi Cheng might get impatient from waiting, so she stood up and said to Wen Nuan, "I’ll be going first."

She still had to go back and work on her design sketches.

Back in the car, Qi Cheng, who scarcely spoke to anyone in the restaurant, looked at her and asked, "Done talking?"

Ji Yunhuan replied, "Not yet. You looked like you were getting impatient."

"Not at all! I’m very patient." He was quite patient. In a place like that, he could see a different side of Ji Yunhuan, gentler than usual, a kind of innate gentleness rather than the compromise she showed in front of him.

Seeing her like this made him feel at ease.

"I gave her the invitation." Ji Yunhuan looked at him, "The wedding is next month, and you’ve already printed the invitations. That’s impressive."

"It was my mother’s idea. She’s eager for people to know I’m getting married."

"You’re not even thirty yet. Why is your mom in such a hurry to marry you off?"

"She’s impatient to have a grandson." Qi Cheng looked at Ji Yunhuan as he said this.

When their eyes met, Ji Yunhuan felt a bit awkward and quickly looked away.

He asked, "When will you start to like me?"

The point was, when would she accept him?

"Let’s see."

Staring out the window, she suddenly realized, "This isn’t the way home."

"I’m gratified that you call where I live home."

At least she didn’t think of it as someplace else.

His words made Ji Yunhuan feel awkward. She said, "Chencheng is there, so it’s naturally home."

"I want to take you somewhere," Qi Cheng said, looking out the window.

Ji Yunhuan didn’t ask where but soon saw it.

It was a luxurious residential area, home to either the wealthy or influential people. Seeing it made Ji Yunhuan’s face slowly stiffened.

Her home used to be there. She used to walk her dog around the area. After her father’s accident, the house was seized, and she never returned.

She looked at Qi Cheng, "Your friend lives here?"

He glanced at her without saying a word.

Their car finally stopped at the gate of what used to be her home.

He opened the car door and, seeing Ji Yunhuan frozen in place, said, "Get out!"

The feeling of closeness and estrangement made Ji Yunhuan reluctant to move, but Qi Cheng took her hand and pulled her out of the car, "What are you afraid of?"

The house before her was still the same as before. Ji Yunhuan seemed to see herself and Chencheng playing inside from her memory.

The swing in the yard was still there, left by her father. Seeing it, even the usually heartless Ji Yunhuan felt her eyes stinging.

Qi Cheng saw the emotion in her eyes and said, "One of the wedding gifts. Do you like it?"

He had resolved Chencheng’s issue and now given her back her old home.

Ji Yunhuan looked up at the man before her, finding him more dazzling than ever before.

"Why are you being so good to me?"

"What a silly question."

The door was already open. He held her hand, leading her into the yard, "I said, whatever you want, I’ll give it to you. But since you haven’t asked, I have to decide for myself. Don’t like it? If you don’t, then I won’t give it to you."

He waved the keys in his hand in front of her and then handed them over.

She raised her hand to take them and looked at him, "Qi Cheng..."

Not knowing his purpose, but this man was truly too kind to her.

Qi Cheng didn’t look at her. He walked around the yard, seemingly seeing traces of Ji Yunhuan’s life from her childhood.

Ji Yunhuan also looked around. Every corner of the yard was filled with memories. She seemed to see her deceased parents and the joyous scenes of their family reunited.

After her father’s incident, everyone thought he was a bad person, but...

No matter what kind of person her father was outside, at home, he was always the best father.

Looking at the stretches of grass and clusters of flowers, Ji Yunhuan’s eyes grew moist.

She held the keys and opened the door. The house was still arranged as it used to be.

She didn’t know how Qi Cheng managed it. For five years, he actually restored the house to its original state.

She walked around inside for over an hour, visiting every room. When she came out, Qi Cheng sat on the steps at the door. She walked over and sat beside him without saying a word.

Qi Cheng took the initiative to ask, "How do you like the gift I gave you?"
