Chapter 435: Chapter 435 Difficulties from the Qi Family_1
Qi Cheng looked at her, a complex emotion flashing in his eyes. "I’m just going out to find a job. It’s not that exhausting. Why do you make it seem like I’ve had a hard time?"
"It is very exhausting." In fact, Qi Cheng had been job hunting for several days, but he hadn’t found anything suitable.
In the evening, after Ji Yunhuan finished her shower, she came out to find Qi Cheng lying on the bed, looking thoughtful.
Ji Yunhuan guessed that he was stressed about finding a job. She walked over and said to Qi Cheng, "You don’t have to worry too much. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have a job for now. We’re not in a hurry."
Her grandfather had confiscated all his assets and even froze his bank account.
However, Ji Yunhuan still had some savings. She didn’t want Qi Cheng to feel so pressured.
Qi Cheng extended his hand to her. "Come here."
Ji Yunhuan got on the bed and lay down beside him. He held her in his arms, feeling the exhaustion slowly dissipate.
Qi Cheng looked at her in his arms, recalling the reactions he had seen in interviews over the past few days.
At first, everyone seemed very interested in him. After all, his ideas, insights, and alma mater all proved he would be an excellent talent. But, no matter how outstanding he was, people were wary of his identity. No one dared to hire him.
The responses were always the same. "I’m sorry, Mr. Qi, our company is too small for someone of your stature."
Their attitudes were all the same.
Initially, Qi Cheng lied to himself, thinking it was just a coincidence. Later, he realized it wasn’t a coincidence at all. Someone behind the scenes didn’t want him to find a job.
His mother had mentioned that his grandfather wouldn’t make it easy for him to be with Ji Yunhuan.
So, this was the reason.
Not only was he forced to give up everything, but now he couldn’t even find a job like a normal person.
At first, he tried to look for a good job. Then he realized that no regular company would want him.
Even if he just wanted to do the simplest design or planning job, he’d still be rejected.
He was blacklisted by all companies simultaneously.
Realizing this, he truly felt despair.
He looked at Ji Yunhuan in his arms. "Are you tired today?"
"Not tired." Ji Yunhuan said, "The little one even kicked me today."
Qi Cheng laughed and gently held her hand.
As long as he saw her, no matter how difficult his grandfather made things, he would persevere.
For the woman he loved, he could endure anything!
They chatted for a while before Ji Yunhuan fell asleep.
She woke up in the middle of the night and saw the desk lamp was on. Qi Cheng was using the computer.
Even though he’d been exhausted all day, he still had the energy to do this.
She didn’t disturb him, just silently watched his back. The old Qi Cheng had always been prepared for sleep. Seeing him like this, she knew he had worries on his mind.
The next morning, Qi Cheng went out early again. By the time Ji Yunhuan got up, he was already gone.
She waited at home again all day, cleaning the room to pass the time.
In the afternoon, Qi Cheng came back earlier than she expected. She was sitting on the bedroom sofa. As soon as Qi Cheng opened the door, Ji Yunhuan looked up at him.
"What’s wrong?" Her expression was strange.
Ji Yunhuan stood up, walked over to Qi Cheng, and started feeling around his body.
"Hey." Qi Cheng looked at her helplessly. "It’s broad daylight. What are you thinking? Why are you touching me?"
Ji Yunhuan confirmed that the watch he was wearing was the one they bought together during a trip to the beach. She had checked today and found that many of the watches he brought over were missing, except for the one they bought together; almost all were gone.
Faced with Qi Cheng’s teasing, Ji Yunhuan didn’t say anything. She reached into his pocket and quickly found a receipt for sold items.
By the time Qi Cheng reached out to take it back, Ji Yunhuan had already read it.
"You sold all your things?" Ji Yunhuan stared at him intently.
Qi Cheng said, "They were useless anyway, so I sold them all."
"Those are the things you usually need." Ji Yunhuan asked, "How could you sell all of them?"
"Sold is sold. Keeping them was of no use." Qi Cheng took all the cash from the sales and placed it on the table. Since he had sold them in a hurry, the buyer had pressed the price down quite a bit. It was only about two hundred thousand.
Two hundred thousand used to be just enough for a piece of clothing in his eyes. He had sold so many things for such a little amount. Ji Yunhuan felt really heartbroken. "Qi Cheng, are you stupid? These things are worth far more than that. Selling them like this is such a pity."
"If they stayed at home, they would be useless anyway." Except for the things he bought with Ji Yunhuan, which he couldn’t bear to sell, he sold everything else.
Ji Yunhuan looked at him, tears welling up in her eyes. Seeing Qi Cheng this down and out, she felt nothing but self-blame.
The current Qi Cheng reminded her of herself when the Ji Family first went bankrupt. Back then, she also sold items to cover her brother’s hospital bills.
She knew better than anyone how heartbreaking that life could be. She didn’t want Qi Cheng to go through the same thing.
"Qi Cheng." Ji Yunhuan tightly held his hand. "We don’t need to worry so much about money."
Qi Cheng looked at Ji Yunhuan helplessly, not wanting her to feel pressured by this. "Those things are just in the pawnshop. I’ll get them back once I start making money."
His grandfather had frozen all his accounts, leaving them without a penny at home. And he didn’t want to be the type of man who asked a woman for money.
Those things were useless anyway, so he considered it a temporary measure. Once he had a job, he would buy them back.
"But those are your things."
"It’s okay. I’ll just buy new ones." Having sold those expensive items, he could get some cheaper ones later.
He didn’t bring much this time. He thought he could gradually buy more here. Even though he anticipated some level of control by his grandfather and prepared for it, he never expected his grandfather to freeze all his backup accounts.
Ji Yunhuan looked at him and sighed helplessly. She believed that with Qi Cheng’s ability, he could make money again. She sighed, "Don’t do this again in the future."
"I know." Qi Cheng looked at her helplessly. "If I knew you’d be this sad, I would have kept them."
"I’m just worried about you. I don’t want you to bear too much pressure. If this happens again, I hope you can discuss it with me first." He took the things without telling her. If she hadn’t been bored and found out, she would never have known.
Qi Cheng nodded, "I understand."
Ji Yunhuan looked at Qi Cheng. "Did your grandfather freeze all your accounts?"
