Chapter 418: Chapter 418 Staring at His Little Bird_1

Her attention was on Yangyang today. When she realized the time, it was already late, so she decided not to disturb him.

In the following days, Yangyang stayed with Ji Yunhuan every day. He had gotten used to her presence and stopped asking for his second sister-in-law. Ji Yunhuan felt quite relieved.

According to Qi Cheng’s mother, his second sister-in-law was on a business trip and would be away for a long time.

Ji Yunhuan stayed by the baby’s side without any guilt.

Qi Cheng didn’t come, and Lin Xiang wasn’t around either. Lin Xiang, who had always lived at the Qi Residence, hadn’t returned since the second sister-in-law left.

Ji Yunhuan was playing with Yangyang in the garden when she overheard the maids talking, "I heard Ms. Lin has been with the third young master a lot recently. They might be getting married."

"No way! But there’s still someone here. Isn’t Ms. Ji pregnant with the third young master’s child?"

"What difference does it make if she’s pregnant? After she gives birth, she’ll probably be kicked out. By then, the third young master will definitely marry Ms. Lin."

"Ms. Ji is quite pitiful, isn’t she? Carrying a child here while the third young master is out with Ms. Lin every day."

"But that’s her own choice. Things would have been better if she hadn’t divorced the third young master back then!"

Ji Yunhuan felt uncomfortable listening to this.

The sun was warm. Yangyang squatted nearby, playing with his things.

Watching the scene before her, she felt a twinge of sadness.

Qi Cheng hadn’t called her these past few days. He seemed really busy.

She didn’t know what he was busy with. When she called, he just told her to take good care of the child.

Aunt Liu noticed Ji Yunhuan’s somewhat desolate expression and said, "They’re too much. I’ll go talk to them."

Here she was, and yet they were discussing these things as if Ji Yunhuan wouldn’t overhear.

"No need," Ji Yunhuan said. "Even if they don’t say it now, they’ll talk about it behind my back."

"But..."

"It’s nothing. The servants’ words usually reflect the master’s thoughts." In the Qi Family’s view, she was precisely that kind of presence. It was no wonder the maids spoke as they did.

Aunt Liu didn’t say anything further seeing Ji Yunhuan’s reaction.

Ji Yunhuan figured Qi Cheng should be coming to see her soon. He hadn’t been over in days. No matter how busy he was, she was still in his heart.

In the afternoon, Ji Yunhuan was asleep when Qi Cheng returned, along with Lin Xiang. Lin Xiang followed him closely, her eyes full of joy.

Entering the living room, they found Qi Cheng’s mother there. Lin Xiang politely greeted her, "Auntie."

"Sit," Qi Cheng’s mother said.

Seeing Qi Cheng hadn’t been back for days, she was naturally happy.

As long as this continued, Qi Cheng and Ji Yunhuan would gradually drift apart.

After chatting for a while, Qi Cheng went upstairs and saw Aunt Liu at Ji Yunhuan’s door.

"Mr. Qi."

"What is she doing?"

"Madam is napping with the young master."

He intended to visit her but stopped upon hearing this.

Aunt Liu, knowing Ji Yunhuan had been waiting for Qi Cheng, was about to enter the room. "I’ll wake her."

"No need," Qi Cheng interrupted. "Let her sleep. Don’t disturb her."

"But..." Though Ji Yunhuan didn’t say it, she always hoped Qi Cheng would appear before her.

Qi Cheng said, "I won’t go in."

He finished speaking and headed downstairs, spotting Lin Xiang standing at the stairs.

Whenever they returned here, Lin Xiang would stick to him like glue.

He shot her a glance and went downstairs.

"I just wanted to come up and see you," Lin Xiang explained.

She could sense Qi Cheng was annoyed with her again.

He must dislike her following him around like this.

Qi Cheng couldn’t be bothered with her. In his eyes, Lin Xiang’s explanation was nothing but a feeble cover-up.

But he had an agreement with his mother. For Ji Yunhuan, he tolerated it.

-

Ji Yunhuan was woken by Yangyang.

She was still asleep when Yangyang reached out to hold her hand, "I need to pee."

Ji Yunhuan opened her eyes, checked the time, and realized she had been asleep for over two hours. She quickly got out of bed and led Yangyang to the bathroom, helping him off with his pants and onto the toilet.

He held his little bird but didn’t pee.

Ji Yunhuan looked at him curiously, "Why aren’t you peeing?"

"I can’t pee if you’re looking at my bird."

"..." Ji Yunhuan was speechless. Son, I’m your mom, your real mom!

She lifted her head and turned her eyes away, "I’m not looking."

After Yangyang finished, Ji Yunhuan helped him with his pants and then took him to wash his hands.

Aunt Liu came in and, seeing the mother and son washing hands so warmly, said, "Mr. Qi came by today."

"Where is he?" Ji Yunhuan asked eagerly. She had waited for Qi Cheng for so long.

Aunt Liu said, "You were sleeping, so he left. I wanted to wake you, but he told me not to disturb you."

"..." Ji Yunhuan felt very uncomfortable, "You should have woken me."

She missed him so much, yet she didn’t even get to see him.

"He came with Ms. Lin. Ms. Lin didn’t leave his side. He probably thought it was inconvenient," Aunt Liu said helplessly.

Hearing this, Ji Yunhuan lowered her head, continuing to help Yangyang wash his hands.

Yangyang looked at Ji Yunhuan, grabbed her hand, then let go.

Seeing him so lively, Ji Yunhuan smiled and said to Aunt Liu, "It’s okay. You can go."

With her son around, even if she didn’t see Qi Cheng, her heart wasn’t as heavy with regret.

-

A few days later, the second sister-in-law returned.

Before she came back, Ji Yunhuan and Yangyang had established a good relationship. But as soon as he saw his second sister-in-law, Yangyang instantly put Ji Yunhuan aside.

"Mommy." As soon as she got out of the car, Yangyang impatiently ran up to her, demanding to be held.

"Good boy, I missed you to death." She picked him up.

Ji Yunhuan greeted her kindly, "Second sister-in-law."

She glanced at Ji Yunhuan without a word, carrying Yangyang inside.

Previously, even if she disliked Ji Yunhuan, she would still maintain basic manners. Unexpectedly...

Ji Yunhuan was taken aback, when their second brother, who came together, smoothed things over, "Your second sister-in-law has been in a bad mood these past few days. Don’t take it to heart."

"Okay." Although saying this, Ji Yunhuan could clearly feel that the second sister-in-law’s resentment was directed at her.

Ji Yunhuan didn’t understand what happened.

To avoid causing them more dissatisfaction, Ji Yunhuan returned to her room. She sat on the sofa and read, and shortly afterward, Aunt Liu came in, "Ma’am, you have a visitor."

Ji Yunhuan looked up and saw Bai Liyan already following Aunt Liu in. She was surprised, "Why are you here?"

"I knew you were here, so I took some time to visit. From your expression, it doesn’t seem like you’re very happy to see me?" Bai Liyan raised an eyebrow and sat in the chair beside her.
