Chapter 40: Chapter 40 How to Stop_1
Ji Yunhuan didn’t really dare to go to sleep, for fear that the female housekeeper would catch hold of something against her. She stayed there, waiting with the servants for the doctor to come.
The one who came was Bai Liyan, which showed how serious Qi Cheng’s injury was.
Even though Ji Yunhuan thought the injury couldn’t be that serious.
They had only parted ways earlier, and now such a thing had happened. Ji Yunhuan felt embarrassed to face Bai Liyan.
Bai Liyan brought an assistant with him. After he entered, the assistant stayed by his side.
He skillfully treated Qi Cheng’s wound and gave him an anti-inflammatory injection. He addressed the room full of tense people, "I’ve treated the wound. Qi Cheng is fine now; everyone can rest assured."
"Are you sure there’s no concussion or anything?" The female housekeeper was still not at ease. She knew that the injury had struck Qi Cheng’s most precious head.
Bai Liyan looked troubled, "It’s hard to say. Let’s wait until he wakes up tomorrow to check again, shall we?"
The female housekeeper’s terrified look that Qi Cheng might never wake up made Bai Liyan can’t help but explain, "His injury isn’t severe enough to turn him into a vegetative state. He will wake up, don’t worry."
"Sorry for the trouble, Dr. Bai," Ji Yunhuan said apologetically. Being Qi Cheng’s wife, it was not inappropriate for her to say this.
Bai Liyan’s gaze fell on her and kindly said, "No trouble at all. However, I am very curious, how did Qi Cheng get injured?"
After he asked this, the female housekeeper looked at Ji Yunhuan, her eyes filled with the desire to expose Ji Yunhuan’s wrongdoing.
But, as a well-educated housekeeper, she wouldn’t speak ill of her master in front of others. So, in response to Bai Liyan’s question, the female housekeeper said nothing.
Ji Yunhuan answered, "Maybe he accidentally bumped into something! I’m not sure. I went to take a shower and came out to find him like this."
Ji Yunhuan’s lie showed no signs of guilt.
"Bumped into something?" Bai Liyan glanced at Qi Cheng on the bed and couldn’t help but smile.
Having practiced medicine for many years, he could easily tell what had happened from the wound. Clearly, Qi Cheng had been hit by someone, but he did not expose Ji Yunhuan.
After treating Qi Cheng’s wound, Bai Liyan did not leave. Instead, he had the servants arrange a room for him to stay at the Qi Residence.
He had known Qi Cheng for many years, feeling as comfortable there as if it were his own home.
Qi Cheng, intoxicated and injured, was said by Bai Liyan to sleep until the next day. Ji Yunhuan showed some concern and then took a blanket to sleep on the couch.
The next morning, before she opened her eyes, she heard the housekeeper talking to Qi Cheng, "Sir, do you remember how you got injured last night?"
Also concerned about this question, Ji Yunhuan did not get up but instead lay with her eyes closed, listening intently.
Qi Cheng’s cold voice replied, "I don’t remember."
She subconsciously sighed in relief. As long as Qi Cheng didn’t remember, no matter how much others suspected, they couldn’t do anything to her.
So, she sat up and looked at Qi Cheng, her eyes full of concern, "You’re awake?"
The housekeeper looked at Ji Yunhuan with an expression of bitter resentment, making her feel hated to the core.
Freshly awake, Ji Yunhuan’s black hair cascaded, slightly messy, giving her a touch of laziness that did not detract from her beauty. If anything, it made her look even more charming.
Qi Cheng looked at her, "Didn’t expect you to care so much about me."
Ji Yunhuan moved her ears slightly. If she didn’t mishear, his words carried a hint of sarcasm.
She couldn’t help but scrutinize him, trying to see if he remembered last night’s events but was just pretending not to.
The wound she hit, covered by a piece of gauze, did not detract from his handsome face at all.
His eyes were deep, making it hard to understand what he was thinking.
However, Ji Yunhuan thought, if he really knew she had hit him, given his pettiness, he surely wouldn’t pretend not to know.
She said to Qi Cheng, "You drank so much last night, got pretty drunk, and then somehow injured yourself. Of course, I would be worried. Now seeing you awake, I can relax."
After expressing her concern, she went to wash up.
Watching her enter the bathroom, the housekeeper still looked at Qi Cheng with dissatisfaction, "Sir, do you really not remember last night’s events?"
"What do you want to say?" Qi Cheng looked in the direction of the bathroom.
The housekeeper said, "After you came back last night, Madam said she would take care of you. I went downstairs, and when I came back, I saw you injured. I always feel this has something to do with Madam..."
Ji Yunhuan was washing her face when the bathroom door opened. Qi Cheng, dressed in pajamas, stood at the door, the gauze on his head conspicuous. He stared at her, seemingly wishing to bore a hole in her back with his gaze.
Ji Yunhuan continued to wash her face, casually asking, "Mr. Qi, do you need something?"
The housekeeper must have already tattled on her.
He trusted the housekeeper so much that he would surely believe what she said. So, he was likely here to cause trouble.
Yet he acted extremely calm, making Ji Yunhuan feel unprecedentedly nervous. This man had the ability to drive people crazy.
"The housekeeper said you hit me last night?" Qi Cheng asked calmly.
Ji Yunhuan denied, "No."
Knowing that the more words said, the more flaws there would be, she did not elaborate.
Just then, Qi Cheng walked over and hugged her from behind, resting his face on her shoulder. This intimate gesture between lovers made her freeze, her whole body breaking out in goosebumps.
What was he trying to do?
Qi Cheng looked down at her, "What’s with the hickey on your neck?"
Ji Yunhuan instinctively clutched her clothes, "Mr. Qi, you’re shameless!"
"Why would looking at my own wife be shameless?" He looked at her calmly with a slight smile on his lips.
His gaze made Ji Yunhuan feel that this man knew everything.
She averted her eyes and said, "You were drunk last night. When I was helping you undress, you suddenly went crazy kissing me. What, do you think I was sneaking around?"
"Did we, uh, get to the last step last night?" he asked curiously like a child.
Ji Yunhuan pushed him away, "Of course not."
"Why?" he asked, puzzled.
Judging by his confused look, it was certain he really didn’t remember what happened last night.
"What do you mean, why?"
"I kissed you like that, why stop?" he asked a sharp question.
Ji Yunhuan made up a reason, "How would I know? Maybe you drank too much and couldn’t function down there."
"..." Qi Cheng’s face darkened, "Wanna make up for it now?"
He pressed against her, letting her feel his morning ’enthusiasm.’
