Chapter 346: Chapter 346: Want to Strangle Her (4)_1
Ji Yunhuan smiled and said, "He must have been very cute when he was little."
"Cute he was, but he was also quite naughty. You see him now, looking very reliable as Dr. Bai, but when he was a child, he was quite the troublemaker. Our family had a dog back then, and every day, he would wrap the dog’s legs in bandages more than ten times. There was one time the dog couldn’t stand him anymore and bit a big hole in the back of his pants. He was so scared his face turned green."
Imagining the serious-looking Bai Liyan in such a funny situation, Ji Yunhuan couldn’t help but laugh.
When Bai Liyan returned, he overheard his mother telling Ji Yunhuan his childhood embarrassments. He interrupted them, "Mom."
His mother looked at him and laughed, "What’s wrong? Afraid I’ll badmouth you? What are you afraid of? She’s your wife. She’ll know eventually."
Ji Yunhuan glanced at Bai Liyan. The word "wife" always made her feel a bit awkward.
Bai Liyan sat down. "Weren’t you going to the Qi Family with Dad? You should get going."
Just as he finished speaking, Uncle Bai came downstairs. He had changed his clothes and was ready to go out.
He rarely had the time to come over here, so he naturally had to visit old friends.
Hearing the name Qi Family, Ji Yunhuan’s eyes darkened. Unconsciously thinking of Qi Cheng, her heart ached. Fortunately, she quickly forced herself to snap out of it.
The aunt and uncle soon left, leaving only her and Bai Liyan at home.
She looked at Bai Liyan worriedly. "How are we going to end this deception with your parents?"
"If you don’t plan to marry anyone else and stay with me forever, then there’s no need to end it. Anyway, after that commotion with Qi Cheng, you can’t marry anyone else but me."
"Are you serious? I’ll really marry you then." Ji Yunhuan teased, "Actually, thinking about it, marrying you, I’m quite lucky. So many women cry wanting to marry you, but you end up marrying me."
Bai Liyan only smiled slightly as she spoke.
After all, besides Ji Yunhuan, he hadn’t intended to marry anyone else. So far, no other woman had caught his eye.
Bai Liyan had someone bring his computer over, as he still had some work to deal with today.
Ji Yunhuan asked, "What have you been doing since you stopped being a doctor?"
"Business," he answered simply.
"Do you know how to do business?" Ji Yunhuan’s eyes were filled with doubt.
Bai Liyan glanced at her. "I’m quite okay at it. Not a lot of money, but enough to support you comfortably."
He seemed genuinely prepared to marry Ji Yunhuan.
Ji Yunhuan felt a bit awkward by his seriousness. "Bai Liyan, don’t you have any woman you like?"
"Like?" The word made Bai Liyan slightly dazed. "I didn’t before. Maybe in the future."
His gaze swept across Ji Yunhuan’s face and quickly moved back to the computer.
Ji Yunhuan didn’t notice his small action. "Then isn’t that it? If you marry me and regret it later, I don’t want to marry you only to get divorced. A second marriage is already a downgrade, and a third marriage is even worse. I might as well not marry anyone."
After she finished speaking, Bai Liyan didn’t respond further. She sat beside him quietly.
After a while, Bai Liyan looked up seriously, "Since I’ll marry you, there’s no talk of divorce."
"..." Ji Yunhuan was left somewhat at a loss by his words.
She couldn’t help but think he wouldn’t be serious, right?
Bai Liyan glanced at the time. "It’s getting late. I’ll take you to your room. You should get some sleep."
The doctor said her health wasn’t great, indicating her recent rest and nutrition were insufficient.
Ji Yunhuan was also feeling a bit sleepy.
Moreover, chatting with Bai Liyan always seemed to hit a dead end.
When they got upstairs, Bai Liyan followed her into the room to get some work documents. Ji Yunhuan felt embarrassed about taking over his room, "I can sleep in another room."
"I know." He looked at her helplessly, "But my mom will scold me."
"Auntie is so nice. She would scold people?"
"She can be fierce when she scolds." Bai Liyan said, "You sleep here, I’ll sleep next door. Don’t worry so much about me. Remember when you were sick, and I took care of you? You’ll just be staying at my house for a few days. Are you that afraid?"
That time, when they returned from the cemetery and were trapped in a hotel, she fell ill, and he stayed with her all night.
Remembering that time, Ji Yunhuan indeed felt assured. Since she had already taken a bath when she got back, she was too tired to wash up again and went straight to bed.
Bai Liyan took his things and stood at the door. "Call me if you need anything. I’ll be in the next room."
"Mm." She felt quite guilty for taking his room but had no other option.
Bai Liyan turned off the room’s main lights before leaving, only leaving the sleep lamp on. Leaning against the pillow, she thought about everything that had happened today, still feeling heartache.

Tonight, the starry sky was brilliant. Qi Cheng sat by the floor-to-ceiling window in Jingyang Tower, looking at the brilliantly lit city below, recalling Ji Yunhuan’s words to him, that people who liked high places were either childish or lonely.
He thought that with her, he wouldn’t need this place anymore. But in the end, he couldn’t help but hide himself in the highest place of this city.
Bai Liyan was one of his best friends. After Su Molang left, he had only this dependable brother left. But in the end, Bai Liyan took the woman he loved most.
Maybe, just as Bai Liyan said, he was the one who took Ji Yunhuan first. So, he deserved this outcome.
Karma in this world really was timely.
He sat on the sofa, looking out the window, smoking cigarette after cigarette. By dawn, Assistant Gao walked in, seeing him leaning on the sofa with his eyes slightly closed.
Assistant Gao walked over and covered him with a light blanket, waking Qi Cheng at that moment.
He glanced at Assistant Gao and sat up straight.
"Sir," Assistant Gao looked at the faint weariness under his eyes, "You didn’t sleep all night, did you?"
Qi Cheng sat on the sofa, not moving, staring at the bright outside light. He ordered, "Draw the curtains."
Assistant Gao quickly walked over and pulled the curtains, dimming the room’s light.
Assistant Gao asked, "Shall I prepare breakfast for you?"
"No need." He rubbed his brows, trying to relieve the night’s fatigue. He hadn’t known before how exhausting it could be to miss someone.
Looking at Mr. Qi, Assistant Gao said, "Although it’s summer, you should still take care of yourself. Don’t wear yourself out."
Qi Cheng looked at him, couldn’t help but laugh, "I didn’t expect you to end up looking after me."
"Caring for you is my duty."
